Welcome back! After completing our work season we had a two week window between two weddings in the North East. So we looked the map and searched for some smaller bike tours that we could drive to and bike in that timeframe. We landed on the GAP and C&O towpath. A total of 335 miles, starting in Pittsburgh PA and ending in Washington DC. After doing minimal research as we tend to do for our bike tours Dre's parents dropped us off in Pittsburgh. Maisha was really excited to see that her bike trailer was packed! We are still not sure if she loves the van or the bike trailer more!
In todays video, we biked the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail from Pittsburgh, PA to Smithton, PA for a total of 39.9 miles. We were excited to start a new bike adventure with Maisha. After biking 74 days with her on the East Coast Greenway we can't image doing a bike tour without her.
We hope you enjoy this video and comment below if you have any questions about our gear or about the GAP & C&O towpath. We would love to hear from you!
Don't forget to subscribe!! If you want us to do more bike tours let us know in the comments below!

...Thank you! I've been wondering about attaching a pet carrier to my bike but wasn't sure if it was a good idea; I'm going to try it. :)

Hey Guys! Great to see you all bike touring again!! My son and I did the C&O last June and it was great, even the "Paw Paw Tunnel Hike a Bike" as we had a picnic lunch on top of the mountain with gorgeous views and a nice breeze. This June we are riding both the GAP and C&O. Looking forward to the rest of your trip as a preview to our own. Take care and stay safe!

Really enjoyed your ECG series and glad to see you’re touring again. I did the C&O last August and I’m looking forward to your take on the beautiful WV spots. Good luck on the Paw Paw bypass!

@@suits2sandals I rode the GAP Trail from Pittsburgh to Cumberland it was awesome. The first day I ended up doing most of it 118 miles and finished up the following morning. If I would do it again I would slow down and explore more surroundings.

Nice coverage. I watched your ECG videos and looking at these. I plan on doing the GAP, C&O, Custis trail to W&OD. I live about 1/2 off of the W&OD and can ride back to my front door. My initial bikepacking / touring ride will be the Greenbrier River Trail in WV with my son before he heads off to college. Thanks for the vids!

I forgot to ask... how is the carrier holding up? And did you experience any issues along the way. Thanks again.

Really good, 3500 miles of use and no issues.

I'm thinking of taking my labrador retriever with me. He is 10 years old and weighs 88lbs. He was around 70 in younger years and is currently working back to that weight. I ordered the burley bark ranger xl. I'm worried about the weight. I am towing with a fuji touring bike. My only concern with that is the rear wheel is quick release. Any advise here? All my other gear is top end UL stuff so I'm hoping that will help?

We didn't have any issues with the quick release on this trail or the C&O. Bigger gravel can be an issue but you can tighten the quick release bolt. It makes a big difference if you have any issues l.
