Brilliant song and the video is thought provoking. It was meant to be an anti-suicide song, which is evident in parts. It became an all-inclusive song for anyone facing life's trials: loss, confusion, doubt, insecurity, or any other mental event.
Great song pick! This song should remind us to be kind to one an other. You never know what somebody is going through. A random act of kindness, or something as simple as a smile could mean so much to another person.
I read somewhere that this song has pulled people back from the brink of suicide on numerous occasions. I believe it. It’s helped me through quite a few rough times. Thanks for the reaction!
REM is from Athens, Ga and were still kicking around town when I was in school there. Three of the four still live there. Also home to B-52s, Widespread Panic, Drive-by Truckers, of Montreal, Neutral Milk Hotel, Vigilantes of Love, Pylon, Gresham Disco, the Glands, Love Tractor, Dead Confederate, Black Crowes, Matthew Sweet, Azure Ray, Vic Chesnutt, Elf Power, Japancakes, the Whigs, Olivia Tremor Control… so so many amazing bands from a little town. It’s the birthplace of indie music, according to the NY Times.
R.E.M happens when you're in a dream state. Been watching the snow come down all morning while listening to Merle Haggard. You might give listen to Today I Started Loving You Again One of the longer live versions. Or Tonight the Bottle Left me Down 🤠🐂
This video always brings me to tears. I guess just seeing that everyone is going through crap, even though you do not know. Thanks for the reaction. Very powerful song, indeed!
:) Agreed. *Nobody gets out of life alive - Nobody.* :D I remind myself of *that* every single day with a simple magnet stuck on the fridge in my kitchen that reads "Good health simply means you're dying at the slowest rate possible." I suppose that's why I support the Golden Rule. I'd like to be kind to as many people as I can each and every day *because* I realize that "everybody hurts" sometime.
You should check out It's the End of the World As We Know It. I did a cover of that one a couple of years ago. It's always been one of my favorite songs from them.
Let's Gooo! REM is one of my favorites. Losing my religion from them. Canada's Tragically Hip is what I like to compare to REM. Please check out New Orleans is sinking studio version from the Hip Great reaction and Peace out Steven 🙏 ☮️ ✌️BTW this is one of the songs that helped me through some difficult times 😢😊

REM was one of the best shows I ever saw. Just one hit after another.
Whenever you listen to this song, you have to listen to "Shiney Happy People" afterword, to cheer you up 🙂

Thank you for playing this one, I haven’t heard it for years. It’s true, we all cry sometime.

Love your insight on the human condition.❤
Such a great great song!
Next up…. “It’s The End Of The World As We Know It”. Banger of Bangers!
I’ve not heard this in a while - got me crying 😢
Great song
I second Orange Crush, and also add Imitation of Life as well.
John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame provides the string arrangement on this.
REM : that’s a good one . Real close to R E O , react to them doing Roll With the Changes . Please
This one got to me today. I’m feeling despair at the moment. Simple but effective song
Hang in there, just remember tomorrow is a new day!
Thank you for reaching out, it means a lot. I will definitely keep fighting through this
Simple message from this song says it all……Hold on.
🇬🇧
Hoping that you you feel much better soon🙏hang on, and never give up🫂
I'm not feeling so well either these days. But we will make it. Cheer up my friend. Sending you best wishes
Really glad you didn't do the studio version. As powerfully moving as the song itself is, the video is exponentially more so!

I hope you'll check out Orange Crush by REM. It's about the toxic Agent Orange during the Vietnam war.
Good job. Vital to know we can all help each other.
