I love him...to be able to just spend one hour with him, talking and laughing and asking questions would be a dream come true for me. I can't wait to see the movie about his life. What a sense of humor the universe must have to take away the ability to speak from the most intelligent being on our planet....so unfair and yet wonderful at the same time because nothing will can stop him from teaching us and communicating with us.
There are a few videos of him on youtube where he meets people but doesn't have much to say, so much for his magic talking machine.

How can he form sentences so fast with this method? When asks questions he answers in 5-10 seconds with full sentences, I can't imagine he waits for the cursor to stop on the right words everytime...
balkanmachine In the interviews that you are probably referring to, the parts where Hawking is developing his answer is cut out. Just a quick Google search and you can find full uncut interviews where it takes Professor Hawking minutes just to form a response. In some cases, Hawking has fully preformed phrases and answers to questions that he can load up quickly (common sentences like "How are you" etc, and answers to his most frequently asked questions). Keep in mind he uses his cheek muscles to control the software now, not a clicker, which may contribute to the speed of which he can respond
