    I am using a tender purple ink, and I'm quite liking it. I use a fine nib, and I feel that broader nibs do a better job of bringing the colours to life.

    Great inks with an intelligent and useful bottle.

      It's a good design where Waterman allow you to angle the bottle to get the last amounts of ink out of the bottle.

    There is one ink missing by waterman which is the mysterious blue the blue-black ink by Waterman. I own all of the Waterman inks and i like most of them i use them fairly regularly. They for sure are underrated.

      The blue-black is the one Waterman ink I don't have, mostly because I'm not partial to blue-blacks.

    Waterman Inspired Blue is one of my favourite inks. I was going to make 2020 my year of only buying inks in brick and mortar shops which meant Waterman would be to the forefront as they are readily available to me locally. Well, 2020 didn’t want that to happen. Maybe 2022 will be that year.

    Hello Dave! I am really enjoying your ink comparison videos! They are so relatable and inks not insanely expensive. The Waterman inks were some of my first and still most trusted inks. I love them for trying new pens. Once you know the ink you can see what the pen is contributing. Thanks for the great work.

    You have such nice handwriting. You put me onto Franklin Christoph Spanish Blue, which I love. Waterman inks are beautiful. I have Tender Purple and Serenity Blue, but I’d go for Inspired Blue and Harmonious Green. Groovy vid.

      @PenultimateDave  3 роки тому +1

      Thank you I never really think as my handwriting as good, I'm always wanting to improve on it, but it has become a lot better over the past few years.
      FC Spanish Blue is a great colour, glad you are liking it too! Tender Purple is a purple I don't use much, and I don't really know why as it's a nice purple. My favourite is Inspired Blue, although I went through a stage of using a lot of Serenity/Florida Blue at one stage. Harmonious Green I rarely use.

    Florida Blue was my first ever ink, followed up by the Black (still never opened from years ago). Seriously great inks and the Florida / Serenity Blue is just a perfect ink. Thanks Dave 👍🏻🙂

    Thanks again for another interesting video. I have a bottle of the Serenity Blue, and when it is used in a wet nib, I have a nice amount of sheen show up where the ink pools a bit in my writing. And there's barely any at all with your Florida Blue that I could see.

    I pretty much only use Waterman inks in my pens. I know they don't have the huge variety of other brands, but Richard Binder did ink tests several years ago (you can still find them on his website) and Waterman came out as the best overall inks for the well being of pens, and Diamine about the same rating as Waterman. I tend to be fine with the limited colors of Waterman, although I do have a custom mix of my own, which is a combination of two Waterman inks (I call it Symphonious Teal🙂). At this point I use Diamine Cerise as my red, but that's it. When I run out, I will switch to Waterman Audacious Red. I love Waterman inks. Very good performance. Thanks for this video!

    I like the waterman purple and mysterious blue. They make some nice ink! Not a favorite brand, but great for the price!
    Brown sheening ink: Bungubox Piano Mahogany, Sailor 50 States Texas, Robert Oster Cafe Crema (only on Tomoe when really wet), Robert Oster Hippo Purple (Hippo Noto exclusive, and again, TR and wet), Kobe #39 Brick Brown Red. Those are the browns with sheen in my collection, at least.

    • @johnathanrhoades7751
      @johnathanrhoades7751 3 роки тому +1

      @Sagnik Adhikary some have more sheen than others, but they're all a little lower sheen. It is definitely there, though. The non-Robert Ostet inks are also stupidly pricey...

    I don't think my colour sense is developed enough to appreciate the subtlety of these colours. The exception is the Tender Purple which I do use and enjoy immensely. Thanks for the video though. It's always good to see different things even if they are not what I would choose.
    Adding, your videos have superb colour calibration. Thumbs up!

    Word around the FP community is that Waterman Tender Purple is a dupe for Colorverse Hayabusa. The one without the shimmer.
    I'm finally starting to see it at least for this video. It even has gold sheen and even green. Tender Purple tends toward a mid-purple whenever I see it on internet scans.

    A little late but I use audacious red and I've seen a lot of feathering with it. It doesn't really work well with medium nibs, such as jinhao. Can you verify? Any suggestions?

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  Рік тому +2

      I've never seen issues with medium or fine nibs for audacious red. I think it depends on the paper you are using, if there's a lot of fibers in the paper, then it will be more prone to feathering. Try to aim for a higher gsm count on paper, 100 or 120gsm would be better or go for Rhodia or Clairefontaine 80 or 90gsm.

      @@PenultimateDave hey, I learned from some colleagues that my ink deteriorated as it's dye separated from the base, rendering it useless. I don't know why it happened because I always maintain good hygiene with my stationary.

    Great video, love the swatches and how the dip pen lays down a good amount of ink. I love Waterman inks as not only great value, but lovely colours. My favourites Tender purple and Harmonious green. I have the Inspired blue on my wish list. Also I have found Diamine Nutcracker to show some sheen on Fabiano paper. I have yet to try it on TR paper.

    Dave, where is the Mysterious Blue? That's the one I really wanted you to review. For me it writes a bit like a traditional blue-black, but dries to have considerable teal over a day or so. Really want your reaction to that. I've mixed it 3:1 with Tender Purple to get a colour between Florida Blue and a purply-blue reminiscent of tanzanite. Tell us what you think, please!

      They are simple, well behaved, and as safe as it gets, like the Pelikan 4001 or parker Quink. If you want to explore, try Diamine, Noodler's, kwz, and I highly recommend Lamy's Turmaline before it's out of stock.

    • @PenultimateDave
      @PenultimateDave  3 роки тому

      The pen is the William Shakour Titan, it’s a pen made by a UK Pen Collector William Shakour.
      I have a review of two of his Titan's at ua-cam.com/video/2lJrH6Y4Ebw/v-deo.html and another one at ua-cam.com/video/dweMrPGta5s/v-deo.html
      He doesn’t have a website, he’s on Instagram as instagram.com/williamshakour and can make pens to order.

      You are right, I think that's why most don't go for Waterman inks, the range is very small indeed and the colours don't always appeal to everyone.
