Diamine Pansy is a very close dupe of Dark Lilac. The only difference is the colour of the sheen is slightly more on the green side of gold, whereas the Dark Lilac has more of a yellow gold sheen. It's close enough for me :)
Great comparisons as normal! Thanks for continuing this series. Lamy Bronze is a nice bright outliner and very usable. I wonder if anyone knows of a recipe for faux Lamy Petrol using Lamy Turquoise or Turmaline and Lamy Black? I've heard this works but don't know the proportions. Will have to try the faux dark lilac but using another navy or blue black I have on hand.
I needed this. I have a bottle of Lamy Bronze that I purchased in Fargo, ND several years ago, but could not remember its name. (of course it's not printed anywhere) But your words helped me figure it out. And that's actually the only one out of this selection that I own!
I really enjoy your videos, Dave, especially the ink comparisons. Regarding your Shakour dip pen; William is making one for me and I'm wondering how difficult it is to clean.
It's very easy to clean Jackie, as easy as any piston pen, but you can unscrew the nib easily if you want to rinse it with water but also unscrew the entire section if you so wish.
I love Lamy Bronze and recently purchased a full bottle, although it is a bit on the dry side. As others have pointed out, Lamy Turmaline is much greener on my col-o-ring sample than on your TR.
I actually had some dark lilac cartridges and have mixed the faux recipe (wasn't worked out by me, I got it from others) and it is near identical including the levels of sheen. Not sure what adding some RO to the mix would do. Should add - the bronze - no particulate in it - ink was considered a disappointment by many, including me, at the time who were hoping for an actual bronze. As an orange it's not bad, if you want a lighter alterative to Pilot Iroshizuku Yu-Yake, Pilot Edelstein Mandarin, or Sailor Jentel Apricot/Shin Mosukai, then this is an option you may still be able to get cheaply.
I got a bottle of Bronze on clearance at 60% off and I still felt let down. It's a weird anemic tan/orange that only looks decent if you lay it on very thick.
@@MotoMarta I love the shade and the properties of the Lamy Bronze ink. I knew it was an orange ink when I bought it, so didn't expect anything else. But the shading is very nice and the ink doesn't crust like my Diamine Sunset. So I'm a very happy camper.
I was hoping you would be comparing Turmaline to Lamy Crystal Amazonite. It's supposed to be different but from the samples I have it looks absolutely identical when written with. ...and one is pretty much double the price of the other
I believe I've seen a Dark Lilac recipe that was something like 3 parts Pilot Iroshizuku Yama-budo to 1 part Shin-Kai, do you happen to have the recipe for this one? I find Lamy Turmaline ends up sheening surprisingly well in my Lamy 2000 F on TRP, it's been an excellent ink and pen combo for me.
Lamy (Faux) Dark Lilac Recipe The mix is Iroshizuku Yama-budo + Shin-Kai. The ratio is 3:1. If the mix is slightly too red, add a touch of Robert Oster Blue Denim.
I have a bottle of the Dark Lilac and matching Safari but Petrol is different story. I was able to get the Safari Petrol but although I was on the waiting list at three dealers for the ink I never got any. I don't understand why Lamy limits products like this when people are wanting to buy them.
At the time Lamy miscalculated things. Dark Lilac was the first SE to realyl take off and originally was just cartridges for Germany (European market much prefers carts over bottled ink) but some bottles were done for the US market. After that they decided to do a lot more bottled ink but underestimated how much would take (the retailers) and so the US was left with less than it expected. What did not help is the mixed reviews resulting it being on the shelves of some UK/Euro stores longer than expected. Since then they've been a lot better on the quantities, with the Vibrant Pink being re-released as part of the Crystal range I think there is some hope some of the better selling ones may also appear there (Turmaline please, though I do have a spare bottle).
@@dapprman Where are you getting the info that Vibrant Pink was re-released as part of the Crystal line? While there is a pink in that line, VP had a shimmer component, none of the Crystal inks do.
@Pensive Ink I could have sworn that yesterday I posted that Vanness does have KWZ in stock but it's not here now. Anyway, I've never ordered from Lemur but I guess I will give them a try.
It´s funny my Turmaline doesn´t look like yours at all. The other colors match my swatches but my Turmaline is much greener than yours tealy blue. Love that ink by the way and petrol..
The pen is the William Shakour Titan, it’s a pen made by a UK Pen Collector William Shakour. I have a review of two of his Titan's at ua-cam.com/video/2lJrH6Y4Ebw/v-deo.html and another one at ua-cam.com/video/dweMrPGta5s/v-deo.html He doesn’t have a website, he’s on Instagram as instagram.com/williamshakour and can make pens to order.

Great timing - just brought the Turmaline - looks great.

That Lamy Petrol is gorgeous! 😘 However, I can’t find it online. Only Lamy Blue and Turquoise.

The Lamy Turmaline is a great ink! If you do not have a full bottle you should get it. 😊 thanks!
I just ordered it. Looks great

I wish I had not missed out on the Lamy Petrol. Dark teal is my favorite!
That lamy petrol is my favorite of these! Azurite is nice too;)
I think our (U.S.) former president, in asking for a bronze tanning agent, may have gotten some Lamy Bronze 🙄.

"This isn't a bronze" - Every person who bought Lamy Bronze
Haha I was actually thinking the exact same thing when I was swabbing the ink!
Azurite makes my Platinum 3776 more wet and pleasent
I like the Turmaline a lot, but the actual gemstone is spelled tourmaline in English. In German it's Turmalin.
