We haven't had TV in ten years. After supper I clean the kitchen while my husband does his nightly chores. We usually read or talk, spend time with our rabbit and get ready for bed. Sometimes I will work on a project or make my list for the next day. Not having TV is the most peace I've ever had.❤

We haven't had tv for about 15 years now. We don't miss it at all. My husband enjoys putting puzzles together or reading. I knit, crochet, sew, or quilt. Our house is so peaceful.

I have a tv. I watch it occasionally. I prefer to watch youtube videos while I crochet. I also make some crafts from time to time or work on a puzzle. My latest puzzle was Thomas Kinkade's "Christmas Story". That was my husband's favorite movie so I put the puzzle together, glued it, and framed it. I hung it up during the holiday in memory of my husband. I loved it so much that I left it up for winter.

As a disabled person it is hard for me to position myself on plush/fabric car seats. My garments grab fabric against fabric and make it impossible to slide. An old deflated mylar bag on the car seat is a complete game changer. You can turn and slide like Teflon!

We didn't have a TV for 3 years. I miss not having a TV. Every night we would do a family devotion and have family alter time. Each of us kids included would take turns praying. It was definitely something that put us more in tune with the Lord. It's amazing how much the TV can just take time away from us.

I started copying the Psalms in a three ring binder notebook a while back using colored markers. I draw in there some, write notes in there some. I sit at the table to do it while hubby watches westerns. (I could be content without a TV, but he could not and I would never ask him to do without)
Other things are audiobooks, jigsaw puzzles, sewing a quilt top together (a simple, non-complicated design).
    And I watch UA-cam videos!😁💜

We are not the norm. We enjoy and watch a lot of TV. This is one of the things we do splurge on. We are not in debt, and we enjoy watching cable tv most evenings together. Usually, during the day, we are working around the house, exercising, we bowl on a league, etc. As you say, everyone's journey is different.

Too many people tied to their electronic devices, especially the younger ones. And then Covid hit,and made EVERYBODY socially isolated. Nobody had conversations that didn't involve a device. Sadly, this still persists.
My friend's son & his wife are so bad...they sit on opposite ends of the couch & text each other. Hours go by, and they haven't said a single word to each other. The worst part is - they have a speech impaired, slightly learning disabled child. They're SUPPOSED to be going over the lessons that the speech pathologist had worked on earlier, and also reviewing what was taught in the classroom, to reinforce the lesson. But no...they plunk the child down in front of the tv, with tablet in hand, to play a video game, while they sit there texting.
My friend and his ex-wife, as well as their other sons, have tried pointing out that this isn't helping the child - at all, but it just falls on deaf ears. Poor child.

I've done pot pies with leftovers - but I really like the lattice top idea. Very slick. And the mylar balloon as wrapping is brilliant. I did the ushering thing when my children were small as an outlet where I could see adults. The shows were wonderful and fed my inner artist - haha. (Plus I let Daddy experience 6 kids by himself for a few hours here and there.) Very happy for you to have this opportunity.

I haven't had a TV in years, but I have a nice big computer monitor. I watch too much UA-cam each day, probably (gulp) two hours a day. I'm SO much more productive when I turn it off. I read about 200 books a year, so I always have a library book handy. I listen to audio books when walking or gardening. I plan my garden or start seeds this time of year. I do chores in the evening and occasionally watch a DVD. UA-cam definitely eats into my productivity, although I've saved a bunch of money fixing things on my own with DIY tutorials. Thanks for all the tips you share!

I find UA-cam does same to me, but I follow people on different things and have about 20 that post weekly, some 2x and some once a month. So depending when the content comes out in my uk time depends what day I watch and depending what I’m doing depends when, sometimes I fine like a Sunday 4-5 put them out so I don’t get them all watched and it carry’s it over, sometimes I have to prioritise what I’m gonna watch and some I watch back episodes like on here. So I can learn more.

I don’t watch a ton of tv…maybe an hour a week, but I am guilty of scrolling on Tik Tok and other social media and I need to put a limit on that big time. Before I know it, hours have gone by and I could have done something more enriching. I know why I do it too…to procrastinate on things I need to do. Reading these suggestions is so helpful and I am going to work on being more mindful with social media consumption by doing other activities instead and getting behind the why I am procrastinating on certain things.

Several years ago when my daughter started college and moved away I was an empty nest and felt totally lost. Thankfully a couple ladies I met at a graduation party suggested that I look into working at our local Auditorium as a ticket taker. They had done it for a season and enjoyed it. Needless to say I made a call and with their referral I worked there only a few shows or concerts a month and only a few hours each time but made many friends. I did that little side gig for 6 years. The money wasn't what was important as much as getting out and meeting people. Also I got to see so many concerts, plays and performances during our breaks. Willie Nelson, Robin Williams, Carol Burnett just to name drop a few. If I wasn't working I would never have paid to go and enjoy these performances. It was so helpful to transition from the empty nest to getting out and socialize without spending money. I'm sure you and Paul will have so much fun. Enjoy!

When you made your veg and turkey mixture and had the puff pastry, I thought you were going to fill squares of pastry with the mixture and bake them, kind of like a “hand pie” only savory instead of sweet. But your casserole looked really good! I was impressed by that lattice work, Paul….😉
I watch tv usually from around 7:30-9:00pm with my husband. We have a few shows we like to watch together, like NCIS, Vera. We usually watch on Paramount+, but since the new NCIS season just started, that’s the one show we watch on live tv. We also like Biblical shows and some movies if they aren’t too risqué…😂
I do my exercising, errands, crocheting and any cooking I want to accomplish during the day. By evening, I’m tired and just want to watch a few shows and go to bed. When it’s my turn to play the piano at church, I practice a lot during the day.
I’m glad you asked that question because I’m sure a lot of us are curious as to what others do, too.
    God bless you both!❤

I knit so I listen to audiobooks I’ve downloaded from the library. I listen to whatever strikes my fancy. Sometimes I listen to podcast as well. . This year I’m teaching myself to crochet so I do watch UA-cam videos. I live alone so sometimes the tv is on for “company”. Durning summer when it stays light longer I usually go out and tend to my yard and garden after dinner. I find that relaxing and it kind of helps settle my dinner. Or I go for a stroll around the neighborhood.

I'm very pleased to see that you have almost 60K subscribers. Your channel so desrves to do well Emmy & Paul.
I've got to applaud you on your new venture of volunteering at your local theatre. What a fabulous idea and especially as you both enjoy music so much. I'm so happy for you both that such an ideal opportunity came along. You're both having a wonderful and very fruitful retirement. You two are just so positive, so lovely and so talented too. Just loved this video.
By the way Emmy I thought your nails looked lovely and your outfit was such a pretty colour as well.
My husband and I if we're not watching TV, like to chat and remember holidays we've had, look at photos of places we've been to, share laughter over Charlie Brown books, take a walk together or play board games or cards. As you say though, it's easy to watch too many of our favourite You Tube videos when we're both tired and weary from our day at work. We don't watch television, but we do watch too much UA-cam at times (mostly travelling around Japan, Sweden, Copenhagen, Switzerland).
God bless you both and thanks for your excellent channel. Have a good week.❤

We do watch a movie and then turn off the TV and play a board game but only use the cards and don’t keep score. The cards are like trivia or name 5 of something, or sometimes we use “breaking the ice” type cards that ask about a favorite memory or first car or something. We’ve been married 23 years and I’m still learning new things about my husband.

I watch about an hour of tv a day. That's Jeopardy and the news. Sometimes on Saturday nights I watch an old 80's or 90's movie. What I have been doing to to amuse myself this winter is go to the once a month craft class at the library, which is free, and I am on the library's Board of Trustees. I've been walking at the mall to build up my endurance after gel shots in my knees. I found a 2024 planner for $3 and fell in love with it. So nice to have room to write in the blocks.

My honey is a huge tv watcher. I am not, at all. He likes when I sit with him. I join him a few hours before bedtime, specific sporting events and sometimes we will watch a movie together. I am a big time reader and I like listening to things on my phone or iPad. I have bluetooth hearing aids so I can listen and not disturb anyone. Our electric is greatly reduced at 11pm. So I stay up, reading. At 11:05pm I turn on the dryer or dishwasher, when needed. I am more of a night owl and honey is a definate morning person. Years ago I got rid of all but 1 tv and it is in the family room. When my daughter moved out I made her take her tv. My honey would have multiple tvs on at a time so he could hear it no matter where he was. I enjoy a quiet house. 🤣🤣 we can be opposites but made it 41 years❤

We love community theater! We are blessed to be in between two towns, each with a theater that has been in operation for decades. We haven’t gone for a while due to my husband’s disability.
I volunteer at church as a lector and bring home altar linens to launder and iron.
My husband and I got rid of cable and stream our television programs. We watch TV every evening, and sometimes afternoons. We watch a lot of documentary programs, and love old movies. We also enjoy murder mysteries, like Charlie Chan, Bull Drummond, even Nancy Drew 😁 and the sci-fi movies from the forties and fifties. 😵‍💫
Usually while the movie is on, I’ll be crocheting and hubby is working on a jigsaw puzzle. Often we treat ourselves to popcorn or ice cream.

I cut up my cardboard (toilet paper rolls, paper towel rolls, cereal boxes etc) into small pieces for my composting....it's amazing how much household cardboard items accumulate each week...it is very relaxing and quiet, I also quilt (using up my stash of fabric instead of buying new) I also notice when I do these items instead of sitting in front of the TV at night, I am not snacking, so I am not gaining weight. I am also saving money by not eating needlessly.

My husband and I both enjoy television, but if it were up to me alone, I'd be content with no TV a few evenings a week. I crochet and enjoy audio books (via the library, of course... free, free, free), but I also enjoy free old-time radio programs available via UA-cam and Internet Archive. I'm in my mid-fifties, but must be an old soul as things from the past have always resonated with me. The old mystery shows like The Shadow and Suspense are so fun to listen to. I like to imagine I'm sitting around the radio of an evening working on my projects just as they did in many years past.😊

We are rewatching our favorite sitcoms, Friends and The Big Bang Theory with a PBS Masterpiece sometimes in the mix. Otherwise in the evening we talk about our days, discuss the different news items my husband found interesting, he might read while I work on cross stitch.
