Nate! Thanks for having me. This conversation had a lot of depth and I love it! We gotta do a part 2 lol
Andy gets my vote for most underrated drummer in the world right now. I have seen him play and execute ideas FLAWLESSLY that I didn't believe were humanly possible. His phrasing on the drums is so unique and his groove and pocket are incredibly tight. On top of that, he is also a very humble and down to earth guy. Watching his videos on Instagram I was sure he was speeding them up, of course. After seeing him play live what I need to figure out now is how he manages to speed up real life 😅
same actually
Another astonishing player I had never heard of. The younger drummers of today are blowing me away. What he said about younger guys wanting to get the chops fast is a good word. At my age, I am all about slow and steady wins the race when it comes to practice. Also in the end, it's about being a musician who plays music well, not just drums magnificently. Andy is very smart in recognizing the bigger picture.
Super inspiring. Never get tired of Andy’s perspectives
Jamire Williams is killa - His Album Erimaj and also the stuff he does with Marc De Clive Lowe - An absolute Heavy Weight - Love Andy's Energy Mind blowing player, explosive in the right places - I was looking for some inspiration and he sparked it for me in this vid ... THANKS GUYS :)

The GOATTT
Yo. Andy is interesting. I like where this conversation led into the second half portion of the video. I had to pause and watch him on a solo. He's definitely in the vein of Dennis Chambers. I couldn't believe he was keeping the 1 (downbeat) hidden yet transparent. It was a great test for me to count (I lost him once or twice). And yet he was imposing melodies (not just rhythms) over the pulse.
Yeah...I guess Meinl is looked at as top dog still. Lol. I still love Sabian and the old Turkish cymbals.
Love this cats convo!♥
Killer player!!
10:07 In a world of the profane and vulgar, I respect and appreciate this prayer and pursuit.
