DreamHack even questioned if this should be an ongoing tradition for them, simply due to how big of a splash Hololive made. I can foresee another concert at another DreamHack soon.

normally, the best thing for a company to do IS to ignore controversies. You ride out the wave of outrage until it dies down and people move on to a new outrage. Niji's problem, though, is they keep getting more and more controversies and so none of them have a chance to die down.

Also, the stuff they put together for the concert wasn't actually half bad. Hell, they had cameras up for Moona and Risu, and they were doing attendee highlight cams, and people started doing Honkai Star Rail pulls lol. Yup, even I was guilty of doing that. Even after Sayu's whistle blowing and knowing what went on behind the scenes, I kept on watching their talents. Selen's termination changed all that and exposed just how corrupt and greedy this company really is, and how much better Hololive is by comparison.
Here's the thing. I dislike Holo's focus on idol stuff and singing. I am initially attracted to Niji's approach of "normal people streaming as friends" concept. Then these happen. The alternative needs to combine the virality and cult sensation of Holo with the original vision of NijiEN.

It should be noted: It's almost guaranteed that Niji-staff is blaming the talents for the low turn-out. Singaporean here, not surprised , there were no ads whatsoever, no one was talking about it, only time i heard about this event was when i watched Khyo. Plus, i dont think Singaporeans would take one 1-day leave for this event.
This took place on Saturday, so no need to take leave unless you work shifts. But yeah there was no advertising at all, and the tickets were rather expensive.
As a Singaporean and an avid niji fan, I’d like to say: yes I knew about this performance but I didn’t go. There’s quite a few factors actually: 1. They started marketing this event on social media not long after the whole selen/doki controversy so obviously it was when a lot of people decided to take a break from nijisanji (including myself) 2. I don’t think it was marketed outside of social media (other than 1 Instagram page I didn’t see any other info about it) 3. The tickets are expensive. (Do keep in mind that Singapore had just went through like 3 concert fevers from Taylor Swift, Cold Play and Bruno Mars so a lot of people are broke + I’m just a zero income student so I can’t afford) 4. All the other avid cosplayers and otakus were at another anime convention (Doujima and AFAID) during the same weekend. 5. While a large portion of otakus are adults with disposable income, another large portion of otakus are also students who are busy studying (most students have tuition etc. on the weekends so the event being held on a random Saturday and not during the holidays does not help) * otakus in this sense would be niji’s target audience
This makes me sad. Coming to an event as a performer, expecting a warm reception just to see that only a hand full of people care would absolutely destroy me. I didn't watch the event, even digitally, but I do respect the talents if they managed to hold themselves together during their performance. But I also feel bad for the fans that were looking forward to the event. Showing up in person, looking forward to feeling some comradery and sense of community and not only being one of the only people in an empty room, but also paying for the privilege to see a very low quality production must make you feel pretty dumb. I really hope the appropriate lessons are being learned, because at this point the only people happy are probably the ones looking for a trashfire.
Alright I'll be the one to say it, Nijisanji is a SCAM COMPANY. Like where is Niji's money even going at this point?! Riku needs to be investigated cause something is not adding up here.
It looks like a scam company but it's your typical JP Short term profit company. Riku is just greedy much like how the CEO of Nexas is gonna be that greedy
I'm pretty sure Riku Tazumi is trying to get as much money out of this as possible and actively lets the whole company run on life support. I mean, if you look at their public financial records, that is literally what is happening. Nothing gets reinvested, tens of millions of dollars just reamain unused. I think he genuinely exclusively cares about money and has zero passion for Vtubing or even just beeing good at what he does. It is pure, raw greed.
And now we have Nexus which looks to be Nijisanji x 100000. Battle royales for your talent? Debuting 100 talents all at once with performance-based pay on a platform that no one has heard of and is in alpha? Someone took a look at Nijisanji and said SIGN ME UP FOR CRAZY! lol.

That VTuber concert that everyone memed on with the VTuber singing and then showing his eyes for the first time. Tho, the latter gets a pass because it's from something that's of less popularity compared to Nijisanji.
The comparison between the two events can actually go beyond just the production value, but really the sheer difference in company cultures. The fact that Hololive can send talents from all three branches shows how well it's worked to have the branches consistently collab, interact, and form real friendships with each other. The fact that they set up a full 3D concert shows that they care more about supporting the talents and their creativity wherever they are in the world, whereas Niji is infamous for hoarding their 3D assets and equipment within Japan. And the fact that Holo put in this much effort for a sub-event of a much larger gaming event shows genuine humility and also pragmatic good sense in trying to introduce adjacent fandoms to vtubers. I don't really want to come off as a fanboy, but these are all values that don't just come with every company out there, let alone all together in a single one.

This took place on Saturday, so no need to take leave unless you work shifts. But yeah there was no advertising at all, and the tickets were rather expensive.
As a Singaporean and an avid niji fan, I’d like to say: yes I knew about this performance but I didn’t go. There’s quite a few factors actually:
1. They started marketing this event on social media not long after the whole selen/doki controversy so obviously it was when a lot of people decided to take a break from nijisanji (including myself)
2. I don’t think it was marketed outside of social media (other than 1 Instagram page I didn’t see any other info about it)
3. The tickets are expensive. (Do keep in mind that Singapore had just went through like 3 concert fevers from Taylor Swift, Cold Play and Bruno Mars so a lot of people are broke + I’m just a zero income student so I can’t afford)
4. All the other avid cosplayers and otakus were at another anime convention (Doujima and AFAID) during the same weekend.
5. While a large portion of otakus are adults with disposable income, another large portion of otakus are also students who are busy studying (most students have tuition etc. on the weekends so the event being held on a random Saturday and not during the holidays does not help)
* otakus in this sense would be niji’s target audience
This makes me sad. Coming to an event as a performer, expecting a warm reception just to see that only a hand full of people care would absolutely destroy me. I didn't watch the event, even digitally, but I do respect the talents if they managed to hold themselves together during their performance.
But I also feel bad for the fans that were looking forward to the event. Showing up in person, looking forward to feeling some comradery and sense of community and not only being one of the only people in an empty room, but also paying for the privilege to see a very low quality production must make you feel pretty dumb.

I'm pretty sure Riku Tazumi is trying to get as much money out of this as possible and actively lets the whole company run on life support.

I can't help but think the Niji event would have been fine and well put together for a small but enthusiastic Vtuber company that is still finding it's feet. The problem is that Niji is well established, fairly large, and really should be pushing the benchmark with Hololive instead of struggling to keep up.
Nijisanji blew up too fast, especially with the Luxiem wave. With them, Tazumi found the golden goose and he's now milking it for every golden egg it still has before it dies.
I was at the dreamhack venue and the quality between Dreamhack and what i saw of Virtual Rhapsody was shocking.
What they're doing there is what they're doing on a normal karaoke stream. It's just that the screen is a lot bigger lmaooo
Man the crappy quality of the event makes me kind of feel bad for the talents… Niji won’t pay for them to actually have anything decent, just leech off them for cash
Nijisanji EN’s demise proceeding full speed.
The Miku Expo Concert Event is much better than the Virtual Rhapsody Nijisanji concert.
Don't compare that shit to Miku😅
Dont insult the OG of great virtual idols!
@@mukti5896 no mikuexpo this year was absolute dogshit like it was a screen with miku on it + some horror stories about the actual venue and stuff (iirc someone pissed on the floor and everyone around them just had to. stand in it cuz it was so full)
@@kosmalover True enough but still comparing an actual Person with a Program is not the same.
Fr 😭
A houndred and WHAT??????
Holy...
Hilarious that Millie is misspelled and spelled correctly on the same screen. I guess Nijisanji doesn't care about QA because that's just another way of inspection, lmao.
The crowd at hololive were amazing. (My voice is gone still lol)
The atmosphere is really amazing during Holo concerts. I remember the clip of the 2 fans dancing with each other to Nenes song and dance.
The contrast between this and their Anime Impulse reception earlier this year is tragic. Such a massive fall from grace.
The fact that Shu is the only one in this concert that isn't problematic is insane.
Alban???
@@mushroomexpress3049 Holostars seem to like him, so unless he did some really bad stuff he is cool as well.
@@mushroomexpress3049 Apologizes! I just woke up from a nap lol.
I would say Alban is in the good for now, along with Sonny too! But that's just my opinion.
@@ana_why12not sure about Sonny btw. Maybe right now he's ok, but he has quite amusing previous life...
Shu? Not problematic huh really? Well, i still remember back the he was talking shit about holo back then on discord lmao
Tbh I have two friends who are fans and I just have to play along with them because it is making them happy. But even they are disappointed with the company, they don’t put any money into niji thank god and they were sad to see everything go down. I’ve tried multiple times to say just ignore the shit going on and watch who they want and that I will look at the stuff going on. They were really upset and them being upset made me upset like idk what to do now…
Heart break will heal with times, just keep along with them, and maybe they would find new oshi's later, hopefully from a better agency.
@@signumxmagnum Only one of them has an Oshi in the agency I think it’s Petra I could be wrong tho the other ones oshi is U-San but if you know your know…
For those outrageous prices they demanded, I would expect a masterpiece. But it's Niji, sooo.... they didn't even try.
Not only was Hololive cheaper, but their performance was many leagues above them.
Also MILLLE? I know they are taking L's, but that's ridiculous.... 💀
Honestly, it's almost unfair to compare Niji concerts to Holo concerts since the two company really doesn't focus on the same things. But watching Niji get slammed for the shit their EN branch does is really satisfying.
Man, it must be a performer's worst nightmare to see empty hall on your show you were so excited for.
The yacht is at the bottom of the ocean and it still manages to catch on fire
Like something out of spongebob
2024 is good mannn, as a long time holo fan, i finally can freely mock at nijisanji without getting hated now damnn
Give the people what they want.
First rule of business.
You take care of your customers and they will take care of you.
Yeah. Too bad that is a rare practice lawl
As a Filipino, I'm happy for what Millie, and Nijisanji is experiencing right now because I now they deserved this 😂
ew ayusin mo muna grammar mo
Ah yes classic of hitting the shield but not the person 😂
crazy to think juurard looked up to millie at one point
I live in singapore and i didnt even realise there's a niji event.... but i even know about the dreamhack appearance lol
Their audience are like their heart... Its empty
This is just really sad. I pity the remaining loyal nijisanji fans. The niji management is just straight up extorting both their talents and their fans so that they can afford buying yachts.
Y'know what my first thought was when I saw the images and videos of the Virtual Rhapsody concert? That VTuber concert that everyone memed on with the VTuber singing and then showing his eyes for the first time. Tho, the latter gets a pass because it's from something that's of less popularity compared to Nijisanji.
3:41 OMG YOU CAN REALLY SEE THE CURSOR, on the left purple bow and then on the neck, bro... that's so shit...
This is the karma i want for nijisanji, not the harassment on Twitter
Even Kobo's daily live stream is more livelier than niji concert😂😂
Well, as long as riku stand as chief the negative respond for niji as blackcorp will always stay not the mention of his dissapointing counter respond as well as niji services towards their fan that really low compared to its neighbours😂
I do watch Riku's tweet. The fact that he attend someone else's concert but not the livers really shows that Riku doesn't care about the livers, he care about his money and a bunch of yes man (and bootlicker as well) to take care of his yacht.
Whose concert did he attend?
@@kylewood4488-b9r idk, he didn't give any description about it, but you can check his tweet
@@alifdanial8007 its ChroNoiR concert..
@@alifdanial8007 "attend someone else's concert but not the livers"
I just checked his tweets, it's literally ROF-MAO and chronoir...? Riku do be getting Ls but god damn y'all got to be doing some simple reading 🥱
@@rad2400 but still, why is he not giving any description or explanation at all if he attended the concert?
I mean a 30% drop in their YTD stock chart is also negligible, right? No big deal, it is not like they are on their last legs before the company, at least their EN branch, collapses.
Its like the Willie Wonka Experience all over again
Niji gonna Niji, what a joke.
Genuinely feel bad for the livers that have had to push through this last few months that werent involved at all. A bunch of these talents will have been basically forced into doing this and hold the role of face of the event while the bs team in charge of actually setting up and running the event in the background did a god-awful job of it. Mis-spelling Millie's name on the exact same slide as the correct spelling, the cursor, the shoddy venue setup, the fucking PRICE???? awful.. Pleading to all of the livers to refuse contract renewals at all costs.
Niji's event being more expansive is understandable. The upkeep cost of the yacht and his McLaren is high. Dude's got to do what dude's got to do.
Then ask Riku this: "what's the color of your McLaren?" 😂😂😂
Actually anyone at Dreamhack could attend the Hololive concert for free, they had general admission seats which anyone could walk in and watch the concert. Upgraded seats were better ofc, but the fact u could watch a proper Hololive concert with standard Dreamhack admission is insane
“Nijisanji is a multibillion dollar company and has the money to make these concerts better,” at this rate, not for long.
Bruh, so long as they have tons of talents to mooch off of. They'll still be making money regardless
@@BeyondDaX All they have to do is cast off the EN branch (as it's losing them money, only accounts for 20% of their total revenue, and is now riddled with scandals), focus more on the domestic (JP) market, and they'll probably be good for a few more years.
2:33 eh I don't feel bad. The livers themselves hardly feel an impact from people now showing up anyway since I am sure their share of ticket sales is quite negligible.
There was audio scuff from the online stream ! But I do think the criticisms should also be towards the hosting concert organisation - which seems to be fairly new imo, because the promotions for this event has its scuff too
yeah...i'm feeling this could be their last straw to be in the company.
No, no, they didn't misspell Millie's name, she just took that L after the Niji Drama
110 USD FOR A NORMAL SEAT 💀
Btw, they wrote Milllie's name accurate. She just took another L with her so it kinda fits the lore.
