    Do you need a mixer or can you go directly into the PA/speaker/amp? Why would I choose to have a mixer?

    • @JustAlliance
      @JustAlliance  Рік тому

      Hi Fiona! I think you could go either way. In my own experiences I've gone from my VE500 to my looper to PA. If you had to go from the VE500 to PA that would work as well provided you're using powered speakers. I don't now of I would go into a guitar Amp from the VE500....as the Amp would run the risk of coloring your voice.

      Hi Tom. I've never used it in that manner. Would it make sense to go out of your line out of the VE500 then into interface? I don't do too much of that sort of thing... but at a glance that would work. Let me know!

    Thank you for the video. By chance are you able to provide the gain/in out settings you used on both the ve 500 and the mixer along with if output in ve 500 was set to "mic" or "gain"? Sorry if thats too much info to ask..lol. Great video though !👍

    • @JustAlliance
      @JustAlliance  6 місяців тому

      Hey Harry!I will have to dig it out...I shot this forever ago (note the long COVID Quarantine haircut)...I will say this though...I've noticed that gain levels are going to fluctuate with different mics....mixers and more. I've had to boost on some gigs and cut back on others. Have you noticed this?

    • @7139Harry
      @7139Harry 6 місяців тому +1

      @@JustAlliance Actually there is a setting in the output menu that is a bit confusing - a toggle that indicates "gain" or "instrument". This switch greatly affects the output signal level. As the Boss is a pre-amp in itself I cant see why it should run into another pre-amp in the mixer. I would think the Boss is a line level output device. So assuming an instrument would be line level I have been running mine like that - "instrument" position not "gain"...and run mixer input level at line.
      The problem is that there are several
      combinations available between Boss outout settings and mixer input settings and any combo will work with tweaking. I'm just trying to make sure I get the correct starting point when setting up the intended output feature in setting for use with a standard mixer. 😀 Thanks !

  • @hifilowest

    I’m curious about the extent to which this can be used for adding different effects to a guitar signal and a vocal signal simultaneously. With this device, could you connect the instrument thru to an amp while connecting the vocal outs to the mixer?
    Could you also theoretically create a patch that adds a distortion effect to the guitar, and a reverb effect to the vocal (without the distortion)?
    Thank you for this helpful video!

    • @JustAlliance
      @JustAlliance  3 роки тому +1

      Hi Lauren! You can use your voice and guitar simultaneously on the TalkBox setting. Check out J. Leonard Jay's demo on it. Its pretty spot on. If you going GUITAR to EFFECTS to VE-500 I'm guessing the effects on your guitar pedalboard would be on your guitar...not your voice. The only effects on your voice are those that are onboard the VE-500. The oppositve side of that coin, would be running your guitar AND voice through your guitar pedalboard. Now you would have all the effects of your pedalboard AND the VE-500 at your disposal. As far as your question about adding distortion to the guitar and a reverb to the voice....that would be pretty tricky as you can only run one series of effects on the voice & guitar at a time. It sounds like you are looking for two different effects (one for voice...one for guitar). If that what you want, you can run a DS-1 on your pedalboard for guitar...then run your voice through the reverb (EQ and Compression as well) onboard the VE-500.
      Hope this helps!
      Circle back and let me know what happens!
      Have fun!!!

      @@JustAlliance Thank you for this! I kind of figured. I'm dreaming of a pedal that can change the vocal effect and guitar effect with one stomp. I'm sure it's out there but it may just be easier to get quicker at stomping haha. Still planning to use this one for vocals though! I'll let you know if I figure out any especially neat tricks.

    My main doubt is although it has a MIDI IN there’s nothing on the Manual that says you can use a keyboard to send MIDI to Harmony instead of a guitar , is it possible to use a keyboard MIDI out to control harmonies ?

      Wow. I’m back a year later. I have figured out a lot of things. But please keep these videos coming. Coincidentally I just bought an RE20 for a number of reasons but also dynamic mics seem to work better for vocoders and pitch effects. I would very much like to see a start to finish great vocal set up. I dunno, maybe show how you would make a perfect patch with a great harmony, your favorite eq settings, a good compression setting. I would just love to see an example of a patch made from the ground up with two great reverbs and a versatile harmony. I mean the pedal is so deep I feel like I need a place to start that I can tweak to my voice. But there are just so many options but there’s no graphic eq and so many parameters aren’t explained in the manual at all. Thanks for your help.

    You forgot to mention one of the most important parts, which is to press the stereo button on the Mixer, without pressing this having two XLRs is useless as it would just be Dual mono. When you press the stereo button, Channel 1 is 100% left speaker and channel 2 is 100% right.

      You can set it up multiple ways, but fwiw I go to the VE-500 (it's unbuffered), thru to my pitch shifting (pog-2), then to my fuzz, then into my switcher(or on to your distortion pedals) etc.

    If the VE-500 has pre-amps and your mixer has pre-amps do you have to worry about how to adjust your settings to compensate for double pre-amping or should you try to find a non pre-amped imput on your mixer?

    • @JustAlliance
      @JustAlliance  4 роки тому +1

      Great point! I agree. You do have to watch your pre amp levels. Maybe not turn them up as much.
      The mixer (in addition to having pre's) will also give you a wet/dry option for using the vocoder onboard as well.
