Nice vid! I love how much space MIDI saves, and how inventive people are getting with getting the maximum use out of a pedal vs analog where it's generally one setting and that's all you get. @Morningstar Engineering have an amazing product and each release of their firmware it gets better and better.
Morningstar is the best! Just yesterday for a tune, I used the "toggle" setting to switch between verse effects and chorus effects and then when the bridge comes I just click that toggle and it set the "verse/chorus" toggle to where it needs to be! Just amazing stuff that I nerd out on pretty hard!
Thanks - got a follow. Neat setup - gives me some ideas for my own MIDI based board. The chasebliss preamp thing is gonzo and $$$ - do you think you could get by w/ just your stomp? I ask as I'm using a GT-CORE/MC-6/GE-500 and all this could be done in the song preset (albeit clumsily). Also, are you using hook and loop to hold the (very expensive) bits together?
Hey Robert! Thanks for the comment and the cool words! You can definitely get by with a GT1000 and a MC6. In fact, I recently built a super simple board that has only a GT1000core and and MC8 (I like the extra foot space and 8 foot switches). I love my MC6 too though! The Morningstar really opens up the possibilities on those mega pedals that only have 3 buttons (Hx Stomp, Gt1000, FM3, etc.)! I use the Vertex Effects Power Grip, and it's awesome! Highly recommended.
That’s awesome man, I have the HX Stomp and Morningstar MC8 now I just need the rest 😅 curious if you have any of your HX Stomp presets available for download?
Hey Kane. I don’t yet. But I may at some point put them up on my website. I build presets for every song I have for guitar and for my other band on bass! Tons of ‘em!
Hey thanks for the question. A couple reasons actually, ainly the size being a big factor. I wanted this rig to be as small as possible so I could fly with it in the cabin with me. Additionally, I use this rig not just for guitar and vocals, but also bass. So I use the HX Stomp for my "bass amp" too! The three extra blocks would have been nice though, but since I've created separate Presets for each song I have, I haven't needed more than 8 blocks so far!
@@ZacharyKibbeeofficial yep makes sense, I went for the Hx effects partly because I didn’t need amp modelling and partly because of the extra switches (I don’t use MiIDI it scares me 😱) however interesting that it now has 8 blocks, when I was looking at it you could only have 6 so in reality the difference is only 1 block now!
Nice setup! Wondering how you did configured it to get the ve500 to respond via midi. I have some problems to get it down on my rig. Can explain more please?
Great video thanks! I’m a synth player gone guitar - so I’m totally into midi. Just wondered how you organise set lists? Is it in the Morningstar? I have all my PC numbers synced up the same across my midi devices - but it’s in a locked order. It’d be great to be able to keep the PC numbers but reorder them for different set lists.
Nice video! When you programmed your VE-500 using MC8 did you use CC# or Program Changes? I can’t find any info on this from Boss or Morningstar… Thanks man!
Hey Rick. I would use both. To jump to a Preset you use a PC to get to that Preset, and CC messages to bypass/engage/alter effects. Boss does this weird thing where you can "assign" CC messages to nearly anything in their multi-effects pedals like the VE-500 and GT-1000. There's a page in the VE-500 where you set that up. Does that make sense? Send me a message if you need more info.
How do you like the Boss VE-500? I've tried some digital vocal effects units like the Voicelive 2, but it wasn't really cooperative with any PA's in the live situations I tried it with. The volume was hardly present and when I'd turn up I always got feedback. I was using it at a gig with a band and the back up vocalists in the band were way louder going direct to the PA. Ended up taking it out of my signal path to sing straight in. I love the sounds I've heard with that Boss unit, especially because you can run it in stereo. But I'm hesitant to get my hopes up over it.
Hey Armando! Thanks for the comment. I really like it! It’s great for delays and weird effects like tremolo and phaser. I even use the distortions from time to time. And the stereo is a huge plus for that as well! It’s definitely more functional than the TC Helicon stuff and it has its own computer app which is great for deep-diving and fine tuning your presets.
@@ZacharyKibbeeofficial Do you have issues when it comes to using with a PA? When using the voicelive in my past, it seemed like the digital modeling wasn't compatible with the PA. Have you had that lack of presence / volume with the VE-500? I noticed my backing vocalists were louder in the mix that I was with the voicelive and that's what I want to avoid. Seemed like it could have been a digital thing?
Nice board. Great vibe in your video.
Hey thanks a lot!
Wow! Very cool! Thanks for sharing 😎👍

Very nice, great job
killer board! Subscribed!! ~cheers
Got my sub. Great everything
Thanks for amazing video!Want to know the setting of your vocal fx in VE-500:)that‘s killer❤

Nice rig, out of interest why the HX stomp as opposed to HX effects as you have a separate amp/IR loader. It would give you 3 extra blocks

Sweet … any thoughts on using stomp with VE ONLY … SNAPSHOTS TRIGGERING Midi? If so … ?

do u know where can i find the "MIDI implementation chart"? i cant find it. :(
Awesome. Who would've know that all you have to do to get a professional touring rig is spend $6K on a pedalboard?
Hi.. how about the tone using sennheiser xwd pedal? they save the tone clearly?
I like it. It’s a nice buffered signal, sounds very clear to me!
@@ZacharyKibbeeofficial you ever played with shuge glxd16 ? which best?
I’ve used the 14 model for years. I wanted the 16 but it was back ordered and I was anxious! I think they’re both great tbh
I have the same concept on my board. Midi is king…..
It really is!
Booooooooring
