In this first video we begin in Killarney and initially head towards Muckross House and witness the jaunting cabs. Next we head over to the Torc Waterfall which has one of the highest drops within Ireland. At the top of the waterfall we find ourselves on the Old Kenmare Road. This is a great trail and we will use it again on our return and completion of the Kerry Way.
We now head in a westerly direction over Galway's Bridge and towards Lord Brandon's Cottage, which is now an open air cafe. We enjoy our coffee and cake but note only cash is taken, before heading over to the Black Valley.
Through the Black Valley we go through the Birdie Pass, along Lack Road and climb Bean Dhearg mountain. It is on the shoulder of this mountain we do our first night of wild camping. We have a great view looking down the valley towards our next target of Glencar.
This is the first video in a series of three and these will be published every Tuesday at 16:00 GMT.
