      None, honestly. A7S III and R6 are much better deals at this price point. On the other hand, if you slash the prices of the Original Z6 under 1000 USD... that would definitely be tempting.

      The is the most incrimental upgrade ever. It's just kind of sad. I really feel for the people who bought the Z6, like myself. This is just what the Z6 should have been.
      The battery grip with shutter button, power through usb-c, dual card slots, 4k 60, clean EVF output, wireless firmware update... they were just hurrying and slacking. These features are basic.
      And still.... no N-log profile for non-hdmi output? And ofc they won't give these updates to the Z6, that would wreck their Z6II sales.

      Nikon just updated the lens roadmap but didn't give any dates. This system cannot go far without supporting lenses and the lens adapter is just a band-aid.

    One of the coolest review of the new generation Z cameras. I am at a crossroad, hesitant to migrate to mirrorless territory after more than 30 years of using NIKON DSLRs. It is true that the Zs are really upgraded and convenient cameras. But I will miss the robust, rounded and hefty bodies of DSLRs not to forget the easy to use function buttons laid out conveniently on the body of the cameras. Ever since the mirrorless cameras were rolled out the design and the look of these cameras had always set me back from buying. Of course look is a subjective matter but every body will agree that mirrorless cameras look quite linear and quite empty on the top and always too small one ends up buying the dedicated bracket because their pinky slips. Design wise it is going back to the FM series but with add on hand grip. But one thing I like about the second generation Z series is that it is battery grip compatible (as I do portrait, a grip is a must) and the coupling is done by inserting the protruded part of the grip into the body of the camera which i think will be more secure than the ones available with the high end DSLRs like D850. No matter how much the company claims there is always a noticeable movement where DSLR bodies join the grip. Maybe time has come to migrate to the mirrorless territory and thanks to your review.

      Yep, I'll be doing the same with both my Z6 and Z7.. Many people on this comment section aren't familiar with the way Nikon does things. The only difference is they are calling them the II's. Usually it's just called the S version. This is a constant with this company and I will be upgrading. Then again I use them professionally and the Z7 has let me down a few times at events and weddings with it's weak autofocus compared to the competition.

I have 4 128gb XQD cards and I would only shoot for a little before swapping out and dumping the other card which would be saving to a raid 0 drive. Wasn't pretty but it is what it is. I´m happy for that new camera. Great with two card slots on Z7II and reliable usb-c, for tethering. I was testing Z7 and I´m stoked about the quality and a stable cable connection. I´m just waiting for the Z7II to be available and I will make and upgrade from my old buddy, the D800. I was using the standard F (24-70 and 70-200, 2.8) lenses on Z7 and they performed excellent with an adapter. Well done Nikon! I´m happy that I don´t need to make transition to Canon or Sony.

    I'm a Nikon and Canon user currently using the D600, D800 Nikon dSLR's and the Canon 6D and 5Ds and I've been thinking about getting into a mirrorless body and the problem I have with Nikon is the lack of AF compatibly with my older Nikon, Tamron, Tokina and Sigma lenses. With the Canon R5 and R6 everyone of my Canon EF lenses some of which were made in the 1980's AF with those bodies with appropriate R mount adapter which is something I can't do with Nikon! I didn't but the AF Nikkor 85 f/1.4 to focus manually nor did I buy my Sigma 300 f/2.8 HSM and 500 f/4.5 HSM lenses to focus manually, I got them for their great image quality plus they auto focus. Long story short, I want to get into a system that doesn't require a major lens upgrade to maintain auto focus and Nikon doesn't care about photographers with older lenses and mirrorless bodies, this is the reason Canon and Sony out sell Nikon. I've been using Nikon since 1975 and love every one of their camera and lenses but I can no longer support Nikon!

    Thank you for your review. I was a Nikon shooter for years. My last Nikon is my D810 and D750. I still have both of cameras along with my Nikkor lenses. I moved to Micro 43rds about 5 years ago. I am not convinded that Olympus and Panasonic will continue to upgrade their cameras and lenses for the Micro 4/3rds system. As this equipment stands, they are excellent, but what will their future be? Now I am questioning if it is time to go back to Nikon on their new Mirrorless cameras. My biggest interest would be the speed and accuracy of the auto focus system for "birds in flight". I'm interested in auto focus that can track moving objects quickly and with a high degree of in focus accuracy. Lets say over 80% in focus. What do you think?

    The burst rate is confusing. With all the fine print it is hard to compare. I am coming from a D500. Shooting 14 bit raw lossless compression at 10fps into an XQD card in AF-C, single point or group mode, full auto focus and auto exposure and no concern of reaching the buffer limit. Specs say around 200 shots to reach the buffer limit. Never got there. How many fps will I get with both the 6ii and 7ii and what is the buffer limits using similar settings as I have outlined for the D500? Also, do I need to have a CF Express card to reach these numbers or will my XQD and SD cards reach these numbers?

The *Tech Specs* tab on Nikon USA's website list under the Shutter section indicates the top continuous shooting speed at full resolution is 14 frames per second. More information referring to burst speed at different settings, buffer size, and number of images would typically be listed in the instruction manual. Unfortunately, as the camera was just announced yesterday and as only pre-production cameras are currently being used for reviews, the instruction manual has not yet been released by Nikon for more detailed information about burst shooting.

      If you are interested in purchasing a mirrorless digital camera, I think the Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera would be a very good option for your usage needs. The main benefits the Nikon D6 DSLR camera (or an equivalent Z-series camera option) would have over the other cameras you've listed above (from my perspective) would be continuous burst speed with continuous autofocus and battery life. If you are shooting sports or fast-moving subjects, then you may wish to rent a mirrorless camera for a few days and put it through the paces to see if it will fit your tracking and autofocus needs. For all other usages, I think the mirrorless cameras would be on equal footing, and in regards to video performance, would exceed the performance of your current DSLR cameras.

      Only one manufacturer does this, and that's Canon. It's a neat idea, but you have to turn off the camera and wait for it to perform the action. For an event photographer that needs to switch lens fast, this feature will not work. I think this is a great feature for landscape photographers.

      Unfortunately, no, I am not sure when the Nikon Z7 II will be listed as "In Stock" on our website. The Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera is a new camera that has recently been announced, but which also is shipping from Nikon in small quantities at this time. We currently do not have inventory of the camera, although the camera is available for pre-order by clicking the blue "ADD TO CART" button on our website. All pre-orders must be filled before the camera will be listed as "IN STOCK" online or in our NYC Superstore, and pre-orders will be shipped in the order in which they were originally received.
      The best I can state is if you are sure you want to purchase the Nikon Z7 II, the fastest way would be to place a pre-order for the unit, as you would be in the queue to receive the camera in the order in which the pre-order was placed. Otherwise, if you would rather wait for the item to be listed as "IN STOCK" in our inventory before placing your order, I would recommend to click the white "Request Stock Alert" button on our website on the link included below and enter your e-mail address, and we will e-mail you once the item is in stock and available for shipping or store pickup.

      Unfortunately, I am not certain. While the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II were used in the above video, the cameras were pre-production models, and the final production cameras have not yet begun to ship. According to Mark Cruz, a Senior Product Manager at Nikon, they have added an option to use Eye AF and Animal AF in Wide Area AF Mode, which makes it possible to only look for eyes in a smaller area of the frame. This allows you to isolate your preferred subject from other people, animals, or distracting objects outside the selected area. You may also use both Eye AF and Animal AF during video recording. Also, the Canon EOS R5 and R6 Mirrorless Digital Cameras are also still in short supply and on pre-order/back-order, but those who have been able to test the camera have stated it has great Eye AF and Animal AF performance. We will have to wait until the Nikon Z6 II and Z7 II are actually available and for users to get the cameras in-hand to be able to see comparison testing between the cameras.

    • @Smoothblue90
      @Smoothblue90 3 роки тому

      I would say that the overall autofocus and low-light performance will not be better or substantially better than the d750. The difference is going to be in the shooting experience. Using an evf. Having auto focus points that go all the way to the edge of the frame. Having a autofocus point joystick. Having some sort of eye autofocus. The problem that I noticed on Facebook with the Z6 was that so many of the Z6 owners like the new camera so much I believe that they were overstating how much better they felt it was than the d750. I read at least two people who sold their Z6 to go back to the d750. And one person who said that the Z7 performance was not as quick as his d850. So Snappy performance has continued to be with the DSLRs.

      @BandH  3 роки тому

      Yes, both the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Digital Camera and the Nikon Z7 II Mirrorless Digital Camera offer in-camera battery charging via the camera's USB-C port. Nikon states that with a universal USB Type C cable (sold separately), you can provide constant power to the Z 7II, charge your battery, stream footage and transfer photos and videos. Nikon also states that the MB-N11 features a USB-C connection which means you can power the batteries from a portable charger or AC power supply, even while connected to a computer. Or charge the batteries within the grip via USB when you’re not using the camera. You may transfer ull resolution RAW images, JPGs and even 4K video files right to your phone, wirelessly. You may also transfer your shots directly to a PC or Mac over Wi-Fi, but it requires the use of Nikon's free Wireless Transmitter Utility software. You may use the second memory card slot either for overflow (as you state you are currently using), or you may record videos to one memory card and still images to another memory card, or you may record RAW images to one card, and JPEG images to the second card. Which option you choose will depend on which may best fit your shooting style, if you are shooting both RAW and JPEG images, or if you are shooting both video and still images. However, an immediate backup or overflow are both popular options.

      The cameras we carry would come with the most recent firmware available from the manufacturer at the time the camera was shipped to us from Nikon. As the Nikon Z6 II Mirrorless Digital Camera was just recently announced and is still shipping from the manufacturer, I expect it will have the current firmware available (especially as Nikon has not listed any firmware updates for the Nikon Z6 II as of the date/time of this reply). Depending on how long the Nikon Z6 has been in our inventory (or the time it took to ship from Japan to Nikon USA), as Nikon released the most recent firmware upgrade (version 3.12) on October 15, 2020, the original Nikon Z6 you receive may or may not have the most recent firmware. In either case, the firmware update from Nikon is a free download on their website, and I recommend to always check the firmware update listed in your camera upon receipt. If the camera you receive does not have the most recent firmware, you may download it from Nikon's website for free; the instructions to update the firmware are also listed on Nikon's website.

      @@BandH I heard for the price difference between the two that the image quality on the z6ii is better and takes better pictures in the night.

    Will the new battery grip be backwards compatible?

    • @godboy159
      @godboy159 3 роки тому +3

      I'm thinking not since the problem with the old z6 and z7 is the fact that they didn't put electronics in the camera for the battery grip to communicate with the camera.

      Unfortunately, the MB-N11 is specific to the Z6 II and Z7 II only.

    Well a near perfect cameras the Z7ii looks so nice now its time to make the jump from my D850, with the only spanner is should I waite for the rumoured Z9. I am not sure........ Thank you Nikon and B&H.

      Z7ii is 4 grand. The Z9 will probably be 7 grand. Easy choice if what you need is something like a D850.

    Can anyone confirm whether the cameras can write video to both cards at the same time?

    • @BandH
      @BandH  3 роки тому +2

      According to Mark Cruz, senior product manager at Nikon, he states the dual memory card storage options would be overflow (when one card is filled, it immediately starts to use the second card), backup (the same data is written to both memory cards simultaneously), or shooting RAW images to one card and JPEG images to a second card when recording video. Unfortunately, they did not indicate dual video recording as a option with the dual memory card setup.

    • @uncle0eric
      @uncle0eric 3 роки тому

      A lot of people trivialize this, but Nikon is missing out on the fact that a huge and growing chunk of the camera market consists of people who want to create content for platforms like UA-cam. Nikon is marginalizing them. Huge mistake, in my opinion.

    • @Smoothblue90
      @Smoothblue90 3 роки тому

      And the significance is not just with the customers. They should know that the reviewers on UA-cam who video themselves will be hard on Nikon for that.

    The Z6II and the Z7II are near identical judging off this video, aside from the megapixels being vastly different. I don't think that justifies a $1000+ markup though..
