Made this again. This time I used the heavy cream and the bow-tie pasta. But I still used Knorr bouillon cube instead of chicken broth. Knorr has a few more spices and salt so I do not add salt. And I brown my sausage then add the onions and green onions and celery and cook until browned and soft and then add the garlic and cook a minute. Then add the rest of the ingredients. We love this recipe and I make it at least every other week. It is so tasty and delicious. I am so glad I found this recipe. Someone said I didn’t make the recipe with my slight changes. Hello from central Alabama. USA. I’m a chef and baker of 30 years. I say this dish is world class, I am excited to see more. I like how you use cheddar, which has a sharpness that will contrast nicely with the cream. Very nice.
Just made this tonight according to the exact recipe down to measuring EVERYTHING. It's legit. I ate a big bowl of it, and been taking bites at the cooking dish all night lol.
I'm from Puerto Rico but living in the United States. I'm about to make this recipe right now but with a couple substitutions. I bought ground elk and have no idea what to do with it so I'm using it in this recipe instead of smoked sausage and adding one extra garlic clove. I personally don't eat mushrooms so I'm throwing in a large red bell pepper and I might put baby spinach as well. I'm just rewatching the video and then getting started. I'm excited to make my first German recipe ever.
We just finished eating. I ended up leaving out the spinach and for spices I added some basic Puerto Rican Adobo spice. Salt, pepper, garlic powder, oregano and a bit of turmeric. This is so delicious! I'll have to try more German recipes.
NICE! Elk is a great meat, just is more on the lean side than people are used to when it comes to hamburgers, especially sausage. I'm glad to hear it worked out for you! Next- try beer brats with onions and sauerkraut!! Won't be disappointed!
Just tried this out, and it came out awesome! The only different thing I added was a small amount of warmed up sauerkraut at the end. It really brings out a different taste into it.

Justin Harvie, I love sauerkraut, but never had it with pasta. I will try it when I make this. I will also add a bit of paper-thin sliced celery and some red peppers and use a white cheese not cheddar. Maybe a mix of asiago and Parmigiano. What other standard type recipes do you add kraut to? I'm trying to up my fermented food game. Cheers! Peace be with you.
@@SisterShirley I don't use it in too many other foods. With this recipe, I warmed up the kraut in a small saucepan, just on low heat while I make the rest of it. Then at the end, combine everything into one pot. The only other spots I use kraut in are with bratwurst (usually spread over it on a bun) or with pierogies, a polish-type dumpling. Other fermented foods I enjoy are pickled cucumbers (pickles, or relish) that I use in quite a bit of foods, or as a side. I also put relish into like potato salad or cole slaw, etc. I also like jalapeno relish and I add that in several foods. I have a large list of recipes that I've tried in the past and others I've generated for healthy, multi-day crockpot/slowcooker meals to extend my week's worth of food for cheap. I'll tell you them if you want. Peace be with you as well.

My only changes will be adding a few seedless young peppers (batonnet) along with the onions (sweet), and either Gouda or Havarti (on the sharper side) instead of the cheddar. Otherwise, a perfect option for supper! Thank you again.
Damn, best pasta I’ve had bar none. So simple and fun to make. Used regular smoked sausage and was delish. I also threw some chopped green peppers that I had left over in with the onions and mushrooms. Not sure it made a difference but what the hell. Thanks for the great recipe.

Hello, from California! This looks delicious and hearty. I just added it to this week’s dinner recipe plan, as I have everything but the sausage. My fresh tomatoes from the garden will have a happy home. Thanks for sharing 💕
I decided to make this because it looked delicious and easy to make. I did make it a little different. I didn’t use and oil instead I browned my sausage then added my onions and I added two chopped green onions because I like them and about a half a stalk of celery because I had one and I used a half of a very large onion and cooked them until they were soft and a bit browned then I added the garlic and I added a jar of mushrooms because I had one. Then I added about half of a small carton of cherry tomatoes cut in half. Cooked that a bit then I added the pasta and I had to use Penne pasta because my husband went to two stores and no bow tie pasta. And I used milk instead of heavy cream and I used a Knorr brand chicken bouillon cube in two cups water that I had cooked to melt the cube. I let that cook then added the cheese. We loved it. It was very tasty. I will definitely be making it again. I do not believe my slight changes altered the taste in any way. Maybe the milk made it less rich but it was so flavorful I don’t think we missed the cream. And the pasta I think was close to the texture of the bow tie. So I am adding this dish to our regular monthly meals. Thank you for a new and flavorful dish.

I live in southwest Indiana in the USA. It's quite a German-ethnic region of the country and I myself am more than 1/4 German. Seeing this recipe made looks absolutely delicious. I have to try and make this sometime.
Thank you for watching! We are glad to see you on our channel!
Hey. I'm from Germany and I will travel to the US tomorrow because of an exchange. Are there some cities where it is worth to travel to, to see what German-US Culture is?😂
@@nickgehrmann7259 there are several towns that have German or Bavarian inspiration, although they're more for tourism than anything else. However, one that comes to mind is Frankenmuth, Michigan. It has the world's largest Christmas store, Bronner's, and is a popular tourist location in the state.
@@AlcoLoco251 Are there events like the Oktoberfest in Munich as well? That would something I would safe take part 🙈. Do you know Purdue University? I will study there
@@nickgehrmann7259 I know there are, but I'm not sure where they are held. I am familiar with Purdue. It's one of the three big Colleges in Indiana.

There are a lot of things about this that I don't like personally, but it has inspired me to make my own variation. I am sure a lot of people will try, and love, this recipe; but as for me, I would like to thank you for getting my creative juices flowing. Well done 👍

Never thought I could succeed in cooking. This taste so good proud of myself
Questa ricetta è una bestemmia culinaria
You can also use canned tomatoes. These usually have more flavour. You just have to reduce the amount of chicken stock.

This is the first recipe of yours I watched on UA-cam. Looks incredible! I am now a subscriber. I haven't tried it yet but I will. Many of your other recipes look fantastic as well. Being able to see great cinematography, editing, music and dish in one video and also learn German as well??? This is the best cooking channel I've watched and I've watched plenty of them. Keep it up! :D
I am sure glad I found your channel. This is the first of your recipes I have tried and it turned out very good. I didn't have an fresh tomatoes so I used a can of diced. I should have drained the tomatoes. I ended up with too much liquid, and I had to overcook the pasta a bit to reduce the sauce. Next time it will be better. Exactly as advertised, cheap, easy, fairly quick to prepare and tasty. A winning combination for sure. My wife was pleased when she got home from work and that is always a good thing. From North East Arkansas USA, thank you and God Bless. .
I just stumbled across your video this morning all the way in Louisiana! Now I’m making it for dinner tonight! It just looked way too delicious!

Thank you for the recipe! I tried this my first time today, and i’m so happy!! Me and my husband loved this recipe! Keep it up! For me, this recipe brings a little bit from back home, specifically the smoked sausage ❤️
Just made this tonight. It tasted amazing thanks so much for the recipe:)
Definitely start by searing that sausage well... Set sside then build the onion / mushroom base snd then add the seared sausage.
My mother would cook pasta like this from time to time.
