What an incredibly well crafted tune. That fretless bass walking, solid drums, vocal, synth and guitar layering. The breakdown is so simple and clean. This is as much of The Twin Cities Music as anything out of the PRN camp.
Oh my fuck. I had a promo copy of this album when I was like eleven, friend of my father's worked for Polydor I think it was, and every so often he'd give us a stack of several dozen promo albums. Most of it sucked, but this is one of those that I loved. I didn't know why I liked it, it sounded strange, the cover art was hideous yet compelling to me and I'd play the album and stare at it - remember one dudes name was "Beej" or something. Lost the album a loooong time ago, haven't heard this since I was fourteen, happened to think of it, and it's so much better than I ever realized.
Remember being qeeked out on the rock of Gibraltar playing PONG before the burbs took the stage at Jay's Longhorn. The best house band in history. 🎸👍👏🎼🥁🇺🇸#BRAVO
My favorite Suburbs song...loved watching Halliday on the bass...such a great bass on this song. Really had it all, great lyrics, drumming, guitar...yeah! Used to play this song at 33.3 speed and it was very cool!
I use to do a strip tease to my boyfriend when he played this song back in the 80's. He's married now but hangs around my brother. When he walks by me he stars singing Waiting. It's great to know he'll never forget me because of this song & we are both in our 50s. ;-) BTW his wife doesn't have a clue about us being together in the 80s. She's a shithead anyway. My ex wishes he never met her.
Well I'm glad they gave a lot of screen time to Michael Halliday (bass) since he by any measure made the band go, even if it was mainly his fingers we see. But why did they not include any picture at all (apart from fingers) of what I think (?) was Chan Poling on the keyboards? Very strange. Great song though -- I wish someone would upload the entire first 9-song EP.
I saw these guys live at Madame Wong’s Chinatown (in Los Angeles) back in the 80’s. The dark haired singer had an odd “Stan Laurel” quality about him…..good show though. They were a great live band.
R.i.p Minneapolis. The good old days are gone.
This gets more spectacular with each passing year! We were SOOOOO lucky to live during those magical days!
most under-rated band ever
Seeing them this afternoon!
Minneapolis sucks now but at least we had....THIS!

Music, music transcends experiences and the Soul.
We are merely star dust and amazingly human beings at the same time!!!
David and Darlene's prom night on Roseanne: Season 5 brought me here.

I loved watching Michael on bass, plays it like noone else....
Mike is one of my all-time favorite bassists! He was awesome!
Killer bass

LOL, thanks for sharing.
Amazing what memories a song can bring back:)
I would try and sneak in to see these guys…too young. Fucking loved ‘em

They should have given more camera time to the bassist.. He drove this song.

Beej had the Billy Idol singing lips.
Happy Birthday Beej [04/30/21]

Oh, yeah, make the drummer and bass guitarist do all the work while you mince around with your fresh haircuts, you dualing queens!
