The only thing I would add is the difference in the process when applying in the UK. Many of the medical schools offer 2 programs, a 5 year program and an accelerated more intense 4-yr program which you can apply for entry if you have a first degree in almost anything because they love diversity. In the UK we used UCAS as a portal but you were only allowed to apply to 4 medical schools for the year. Most medical schools want a great UKCAT score ( UK version of MCAT) and there are sooooo many options. My problem was that my eye was too big. I applied to some of the most competitive medical schools in London lol and I can laugh looking back now but oh man that was disappointing Just like Adun said, do you research. Have a safety net and widen your options, you just never know!
Yesss this is a much needed bit of info. I didn’t know the process in the UK was like that. Kmllll but I wouldn’t call that a “problem” man 😂😂 ya eye SUPPOSED to be big! Man they the ones that missed out, not you!
I really feel like these US schools need more people dedicated to diversity and inclusion initiatives at their institutions. Changes need to happen now, not later.
Abby Olurin Dames they really do! Especially the schools that let you sit through their premed programs for just about $200K! Then have the nerve to turn around and say that you literally CANNOT apply to their Med program because of your nationality. Disgusting
They don’t even accept (barely) their black citizens. They want whites particularly males. And this is really evident once you start applying for masters and higher degrees. We will over come though!
I love this!! Such great advice and so many gems dropped! I think it’s so beautiful how our stories are so unique with both similarities and differences but we still ultimately get to the same destination. I guess that’s the beauty of life! 💕💕
Thank you so much girlie! 🙌🏾❤️❤️ Ain’t that the truth! I love hearing other people’s journey to and through med man. Each story is so unique with its own hurdles and obstacles. I don’t wanna say misery likes company lol but we really need to share more. It’ll really help us all to connect and inspire each other ❤️❤️
@@BahaMed Facts! And I agree. Last semester was ROUGH for me, but recently two of my good friends have been pressing upon me to share my "gems" as she calls it and gifts more. I had already felt the nudge from God as well, so I'm just trying to fit the time in my schedule to make sure I get it done.
Amazing Joey 😱😱Thank you so much for watching! ❤️❤️ I definitely plan on doing some videos like that in the near future. Now, It’s at the top of my priority list! 🤗
Baha Med Thanks. A lot. I pray I get accepted. I for 5 As and 4bs in BGCSEs. I’m also taking 3 APS but I didn’t see that as an exam while applying. Hopefully that will give me a chance. Unfortunately, we don’t do A levels over hear. But thanks to responding tho. 😁
Amazing Joey that’s great! Trust me, you’ll get in! I’ll be praying for you too! But don’t worry, you’re not from a country that needs A-levels to apply. Being from the Bahamas, you can apply with just your BGCSE’s, you don’t even need a bachelor’s degree. You can go there straight from high school and enter a program they call “pre-lim.” You’d do a year of pre-lim at UWI and then apply for Med directly after that. Of course, you can still do your bachelors degree and apply after (which is what I did). It’s entirely up to you!
Why did you choose to apply to UWI Mona rather than the St. Augustine Campus and the Cave Hill campus? Was it offering something different? Are the medical schools different? Were the other campuses not offering medical school? Just curious. Thanks xx
Thanks for watching! All 3 campuses offer medicine. UWI Mona, however, is most known for its medical program. Cave Hill is most known for law, etc. But I didn’t know this when I applied anyway😂. A friend of mine was at Mona and he suggested that I only apply to Mona. Maybe he took that into consideration, but at the time, I didn’t know anything so I just went with that lol
natacha Jnsimon thank you so much! ☺️❤️ i did OPT and received an EAD card (employment authorization document) which allowed me to work in the US for a year following graduation
I wouldn’t consider it a conversion. I’ll always have my MBBS, but I do plan on taking US boards and applying to the US match at some point. Idk when! Lol but some point 😂. Thanks so much for watching! 🙌🏾❤️
I think so! I don’t know much about csec but 15 sounds like a lot 😂. When I applied, I had just my bgcse’s (these are exams we take in high school in the Bahamas) and my bachelors degree as well. I think it definitely doesn’t hurt to apply!

But will you convert your MBBS TO MD to be able to work in the U.S.A
I wouldn’t consider it a conversion. I’ll always have my MBBS, but I do plan on taking US boards and applying to the US match at some point. Idk when! Lol but some point 😂. Thanks so much for watching! 🙌🏾❤️
You are so beautiful and awesome!❤❤😍❤😍
Abby Olurin Dames 🙈❤️❤️❤️

@@BahaMed lol ... 😂😂😂
do u think I'd get accepted to UWImed school if I have 15 csec subjects and a bachelor's degree but no cape?
I think so! I don’t know much about csec but 15 sounds like a lot 😂. When I applied, I had just my bgcse’s (these are exams we take in high school in the Bahamas) and my bachelors degree as well. I think it definitely doesn’t hurt to apply!
