RC32 yeah :D I remembered the last time I checked he'd released like 300 and something albums, was just wondering if it had really been so long since I last checked out his catalog... ;)
Rob has always said that Primus inspired him a lot and it shows when you listen to the intro of Jilly's on smack. You can see where he got the inspiration for rain.
I was playing guitar, my friend is on the phone and I start playing something random with delay and distortion. He apparently really liked it cause he wants to learn it
@@Person-cv9dj The thing that blows my mind is they actually have the same technique...literally. You can tell he took some lessons from PG. But very different styles of playing. Crazy. Perfect example of how the same map can lead you to very different places.
Tom Delonge's intro riff for "The Adventure" from Angels and Airwaves is a beautiful delay riff, it sorta makes you feel like you're about to embark on a life changing journey.
Lovely chord progression! Very relaxed and ethereal. That delay sounds incredible. Keep up the good work, Tyler! You’re an excellent inspiration to me and the rest of us. 🤘🏼
Really, Buckethead is probably the best guitarist of all time, he has made 300+ albums in about 40(?) years and has mastered A LOT of generes, including flamenco, jazz, blues, rock, hardrock, metal, thrash metal, and more! He is the best person I've possibly ever seen (excepting Keanu Reeves), he gives presents to the crown in his live shows, always changes his songs a bit also when live. He has made songs for his parents when they passed away. He never drinks, he is very good mood guy. He is really awesome, my hero!
The way he gets his delay effect (in big sur moon colma album 1998) was through a really old MIDI effects module called an Alesis MIDI verb II. It sells for like $200 now days.
Glad to see you stepping more in Buckethead. I remember you saying you liked his ballads, but his intensive soloing may also be worthy of exploration. There are some who look prudishly on it and say, "it's just flashy technique". I think it's all musical. I'd challenge anyone who believes the former is the case, to release a full length album every month that is as varied, and diverse in term of neck exploration. If a person could actually do this, they'd be as revered. So why hasn't this happened? It becomes much easier for people to say "it's just technique", which I think is a cop-out. Or, in some cases, people do fairly say "just not my kind of music." And I can respect that argument. But for people who put it simply in the "I'm not impressed, it's just technique" category, I implore you to mimic it as fervently. I'd like people to really think about this.
Buckethead's Soothsayer pre solo three notes per string lick is absolutely one of my favorite licks of all time, it sounds way faster than it really is, and really alien like. It'd be cool if you insert that one on one of your legendary licks videos.
This effect was used by Eddie Van Halen - Cathedral, Yngwie Malmsteen Blackstar after the acoustic intro & Nuno Bettencourt - Used it on flight of the wounded bumblebee. Yngwie Malmsteen Blackstar, Paul Gilbert - The Echo Song & Cacophany - Desert Island to name a few. Great Vid \m/

This reminded me of another song when you did your little example at the beginning called Julia by Distant Signals. I gotta say I love this sound. It's imo one of the most entrancing guitar sounds that I don't see myself getting really tired of listening to, but I do think that there is something else that is hidden with this technique that I think will be famous down the line. I don't know what it is, but I feel like there's something more that could be done to give this a really unique sound...
Razor King by the late great Ronnie Montrose ! He used this effect in his band Gamma. Judas Priest Invader is another great analog. It's a great effect.
It's a alesis midiverb ii on setting 98 with the mix level just past the 12 o clock position, and the input cranked as well as the output so the overload light comes on every time he hits a note. He definitely uses that dotted eighth delay on alot of his songs too, check out forneau cosmique. Also use only upstrokes and it really gets that tone down perfect.
Van Halen did this in 1982 on Diver Down “ Cathedral” but my favorite example is Blues Saraceno “Into the storm” where he uses the volume knob to swell the notes at the same time And of course Malmsteen “ echo etude”
Cool vid.Got quite a bit of Xvive goodness. Seems like all the patents have run out so...... Got the W3 Memory Analogue Delay recently and if I didn't see the label it's a Memory Man. Have a great 2020 bud. Cheers.

Tyler! Please do another Buckethead vid. Please!?!? 🙏🤞 I just learned my first Buckethead song...well part of it lol. I learned the rhythm part to "Interworld and The New Innocence" by Praxis, a band Buckethead played lead guitar in way back when. Field thought it was going to stay acoustic but when we eventually recorded it everything came together as you will hear. The video is of a waterfall I built out of boredom for my studios lobby. I named the song ECHOMAN because of the lick but mainly because no one else came up with titles to the mass of tunes we recorded back then and it fit and obviously still works. NOTES: The story about Echoman in the notes is half true and half bbullshit as there never was any 007 soundtrack as a reason to record it but it sounded like it so it's available Mr Broccoli. AND NOTE 2> Whenever Field wanted to use that particular dotted eighth note setting when we jammed live daily it literally took him a more than a few minutes to dial it in by trial and error to get it just right as it reset every time it powered off and could not be saved using standard knob switches that needed new dialing every time. ENJOY I hope...
Will Buckethead ever reveal his true identity?
He shouldnt. Buckethead is a symbol, the man underneath doesnt matter, it's what he does that defines him.
We know his identity. He is a robot that was raised by chickens, what more is there to find out??
Maybe Buckethead is TheDooo !
No because his buck is his head

Yeah and he plays it a lot faster than the studio version now. Like at least 25% uptempo wich is insaneeee
A tip for people wanting to play Big Sur Moon: Buckethead up picks every note instead of down picking. It gives a much different tone.

Try not to make a mistake with delay, you'll hear it forever. Kmac2021 is one of many unfortunate victims.
I own a tape echo and it can get nuts when feedback keeps looping
