HEY, don't be bad talking the power stroke. I have replaced the oil passage o-rings on a 7.3 turbo on a pickup which the oil passages are on the bottom of the turbo. I was 60 years old, had to lay across the top of the engine and didn't whine as much as you two. It was my daughters truck so dad had to come through. I think I love this video the most because your doing something I've actually done before.

I felt your pain during the early part of the video. Worked out well at the end. I have to say the bus has a great paint job and the interior looks 'smick'.
The most important thing to remember about this repair job is that “ nobody’s happy if mama ain’t happy”

Mike, I retired from a school system, I had approx 40 school buses to keep running, I know all about those Banjo clamps, I cussed those bastards whenever I had to deal with them, we ran mostly 9 liters and DT466s, Good Job Mike, Jenna may even give you an At.At. Boy LOL
7.3 was made by International.

When you're pulling the turbo off there and you had the camera right on back your head I seen the gray hair started just fly out more. LOL 😂😂😂😂😂😂
Change a turbo on a power stroke they are a BIG pain in the butt lol. It takes 8 hours to replace one.

I love my bus with the old school DT466. No computers plenty of room to get to everything. Can't go wrong with a 80's built international
Worked for a company that used Ford f450. We worked out of town a lot. On the way home, his vehicle went down. He said load boom. The banjo clamp broke on the turbo. Only place to get one was Ford dealer shop. Used a 4" hose clamp for temporary fix. Got to the dealer, wanted $70 just for the clamp. Bought one, but just the 4" hose clamp on till sold the truck 5 years later.
I'm glad you got the bus going. Hope you don't have any more surprises in the future.

I guess perhaps you are going to do it anyway, but you should put something on the underneath side of the fold-down table on the side of your bus. You could cover it with a sign, logo, artwork of nature, etc.
Don’t matter if its a ford, Chevy or dodge and what they use for diesels, they all will break at some point. After having them all I know one thing that in-line 6 is a hell of a lot easier to work on. Just saying!
A tip for using flat tip screwdrivers, use a good magnetic one. It helps to hold the tip to the screw so it doesn’t keep slipping off the screw! Personally I still hate flat head screws but since learning that tip it does make it more bearable and bonus for holding the screw when it’s fully removed so I don’t drop it!

I also had a bad experience owning a power stroke, many bad experiences, I was so glad I got rid of it.
The secret on working on a Ford motor is always have a big hammer and a lot of cussing lol.

The waste gate opens a passage to allow exhaust to bypass some of the air blowing across the exhaust impeller and put pressure to both sides of the exhaust impeller making it slow down, the cold start restriction actuator piston is notorious for leaking oil after some time, the glow plugs and intake air plenum heater works fine for most climates, you can get a pedestal without the actuator or unplug before it sucks in a bunch of dirt damaging the o-ring, powerstrokes are interesting engines

A pry bar = flat head screwdriver yes that's a good use of it. Have changed out 96% of the flat head screws, have hex or torx and life get a lot easier. Don't you have a Hose clamp screwdriver think i have seen one in your shop... Or have you lost it :P
Looks to me like the exhaust (out by the tip) could use another support there D.P.... ( it was bouncing around a lot on our test drive )...Great video and glad you got the turbo fixed bud...Happy Wife Happy Life right ?...see ya on the next one.

I’ve never had the front end fall out of my Ford or dropped a transmission or had to replace body panels. LOL Actually the only reason I’ve ever had to touch my motor was due to the stupid emissions systems, welp, that problem has been permanently solved and I haven’t had to touch it since. Would you know, I make more power and even get almost twice the fuel economy that i did when it was stock. Imagine that! I don’t even blow black smoke like all the haters seem to think all of us diesel drivers do on a daily basis. But I can if I really really want to.

sold all our fords when they thought it was good business to sell electric trucks at a $100k loss per unit. My Cummins runs just fine.. the Kubota theory seems sound. Industrial Injection for turbos

Lots of horsepower there shaken the exhaust pipe loose .

Turbos come and go but that 7.3L International Motor is a solid motor overall. Tried and true, I've owned several. Like any engine the 7.3L has its quarks, but once you know what they are most issues are preventable. You guys crack me up trying to get the Chevy vs Ford debate going. 🤣

There's a manual fuel pump right in front that turbo down inside the intake valley them is notorious for leaking fuel out the weep hole it would have been easier to go ahead and change it while you had turbo off .
10,000 miles my bosses ferd lunched a turbo, dealership pulled the cab to replace it. Talking to some ford guys and found out that's the easiest and fastest way to do them.

Duramax are a pile of shit. we have them as 2.8 turbo diesel and they are nothing but trouble the 3.6lt petrol one of the most unreliable

Never been a fan of 430 or the 444 in a straight truck but I'm sure dog house comes out on them so you can work on them now the 466 is bullet proof and basis for alot of the international pro farm tractor pulling set ups they are tough

I thought that was why GM added a heated/AC tailgate so your hands could stay comfortable when you push it home 🤣 JK guys I love the big 3 but that international motor is a lot better built than the Isuzu motor GM decided to use. 😁 and yes it is a 1000 times harder to work on inside a pickup.

That's a Navistar engine they painted their Motors blue Ford Motors or clear-coated I worked at the the Navistar plant in Indianapolis for 13 years seeing a lot of them they were even hard to build at the factory
Believe it or not it’s actually easier to change the turbo in the truck than the bus it’s a very similar set up to the Duramax too matter fact I think it’s the same brand turbo from Garrett

I loved my power stroke it was a good truck it took a lot of abuse till it died from old age but those turbo do suck to remove wait till all the heads are rusted off the bolts
