Definitely wasn’t expecting deer to be the reason for this fence and gate 😂. Love it!

It's been great to watch this project along the way! Thank you, Scott and Nate, for taking the time to record and explain everything as you go. I always learn something new.

Great job, Scott! I know this project took a long time, but to do it right takes time, and this gate will outlive all of us.

In case of a natural disaster, the probability of that gate to remain intact is higher that the house you have.
I hope it will serve you well and your children and nephews.
    Good work!

It’s easier to keep them out than to get them out.

It looks a bit like a fortified compound with the barbed wire on top of the fence. Do you have security issues in the area? The gate is beautifully mad.

The devil was in the detail but the angels are in the satisfaction, every time you see it service you and your family.

    Nice project-
Until the tech fails and you’re stuck inside. But to each their own.

Yes. I agree. This is way too complicated.

Do you have a plan for emergency egress? A bad actor could come you your house and tamper with your photo eyes and then your gate won't open. I see a man gate in your future.

Good point. The gate structure is strong, but the controls are the Achilles’ heel. To be safe you have to think like the bad guys.
A pair of heavy duty bolt cutters makes you a man-gate hole in a few minutes, eh? And that big beautiful gate just sits there and watches.
I wonder how many openers and control panel boards (plus, probably a set of dolly wheels on the traveling end of the gate) will be required in the next 40 years? Especially if - when - the grandkids get the gate code and start taking rides on the thing. 🙃

Question - why do you want a gate, but no southern border wall?
