This was great to see, you can actually notice how she becomes a better player by the end, no dodging randomly, no getting crazy, she leveled up in her irl skill
She getting Git Gud correctly.
She learns and adapt to win the game, not like half of players of the DLC who got frustrated at the game and rage rating the game on Steam.
That's part of souls experience, also not just improving the skill but determination is equally important, which members like Pekora, Aqua, Kanata, Biboo etc are best at..
For example I managed to kill any souls bosses without much struggles and felt quite high on myself but then I encountered Isshin in Sekiro which became my reality check, ended up didn't touch the game for months but later I attempted my revenge and succeed for over hundred of tries and that's because I watched Kanata's endurance stream when fighting Isshin and she inspired me to retry, unlike them I lacked the determination and gave up too early..
@@irvancrocs1753 for me it was Malenia who I never beat (fair that is). Her hyper armor into waterfowl punish she likes to do when you are performing the fight otherwise perfect always killed me and so I always just killed her in cheesy ways like mimic tear, night comet, giant hunt etc.
did the dlc's final boss with no cheese though (unless you consider Giant Hunt cheese but.... its not really. not on him at least. longer end lag than dual col weapon jump attacks means you are trading with it on many openings)
I spent hours trying to learn all the close range dodge tricks for waterfowl, and never once succeeded. I hate that move and I may genuinely never bother with a fair fight against her.
@@ShadowAraunYou can find ways to deal with it. There is a consistent movement to dodge it or you can do it like me, use a shield to block the first hit then simply dodge the next two.

That just how these boss fights go. You get a crazy good run early and die. Then for whatever reason you simply cannot replicate and spend several hours on the fight instead of half an hour.

Standing in the AOE at the start of his snake combos to get more damage in is an impressive level of greed. Classic Pekora right there.
not that different from the start of the fight, you can time it and punish his opening. Im disappointed I didnt figure it out.
She did become pretty good at it by the end, too, such as here: 12:03 - 12:10
shame she didn't drink a potion, though, that _was_ quite greedy
its usually how these fight goes when the boss lunges at you, dodge into it then hit
or in the case of melee builds, slow swinging then realizing hes about to release snakes.

Changing the status to use new weapon made her fight with Mesmer longer using great sword lol.
It's not a Pekora playthrough if she doesn't spew the chuuniest shit imaginable while murdering her foes.
Miyazaki wanted that when you beat Messmer and he curses Marika, she is actually summoned with a holy Sword Spear for one final phase but he got denied :v
He also wanted every single thing that Midra does (like just walking) to apply madness but the company didn't like the idea either 😅
Changing Midra would have made it an even more insane fight with making his Insanity so concentrated it's like radiation.
Sure it would be nigh impossible, cuz what are the chances a player has high defense against insanity? Also it would become a war of attrition.
That would be an interesting add-on to the game, Elden Ring: The Miyazaki Cut

Pekora vs Orochimaru it seems.
In my opinion, he's like the best fight in the whole DLC. Like the only boss that I was menu switching to a different weapon as he changed phases, since he's second took a bunch more damage from the Golden Order greatsword.
But he legit had me confused, because people kept whining about "input reading" when they do unsafe heals and here's one of the main bosses of the DLC and his attack patterns don't change at all whether you heal or just stand there.
Hell, I don't think the final boss or Mithra had any kind of Gwyn 2hand swing/Fume Knight Overhead/Godskin Apostle flame toss to catch your heals.
this is me with this game always almost beat a boss like around 2nd to 3rd try only to get stuck around 6 to 8 hours fighting the same guy ehem (Morgoth the Fell Omen)
Does pekora have a critical hit build or something how is she doing 5000 and 6000 damage in one hit lol. I use the royal nights reserve with that greatsword and only do 3000
Pekora should ditch the virgin greatsword and get with the chad shield poke.

I dont use great sword or even like them. But they seem more effective when Pekora use them. Does anyone know of mod that make my character grunt and yell like Pekora when i use great swords?
Those attempts where there is literally only a sliver of health remaining are really painful.

For those Ghostflame dragons, a holy weapon is far more effective.
All players can defeat all bosses in this DLC with enough practice, but it doesn't change the fact that lots of them are design-wise not fun to interact/fight, stealing a tiny portion of its health away and rolling 90% of the time is hardly any fun experience for anyone who is not masochist, explains her anger during and after the fight.
which is why ill never understand why ppl enjoy soulslike game, the gameplay is literally you rolling on the floor most of the time. surely there are better way to achieve sense of accomplishment

@@Karoshi000 Had a in depth discussion with friends on this after I beat the DLC, so basically most ppl who love this playstyle are ppl who like seeing 'result'-- winning.
The outcome brings great sense of achievement to them and they are happy, so they think souls games are the best. But for ppl like me, the process of a fight is what matters the most, not the outcome, that's why I like strict action games, where the fight itself is more fun with both sides actively trying to skill check each other.
As an ARPG Elden Ring is alright, when I constantly parry those bosses I feel briefly taking initiative, but that's all. Doesn't change the fact the playthrough being passive due to player character is too weak compared to lots of enemies. But all in all, lots of ppl do love that experience no matter what you or me think, only Pekora here seems not the real fan of it.
@@Karoshi000 Because you are just watching it, for the viewer gameplay just look like u rolling. But for the player, the gameplay is HOW you roll, WHEN you roll, WHAT DIRECTION that you roll, is that attack punishable or will i get slap in the face if i try to do so. It's the process of figuring these thing out make the game fun. I can understand that the gameplay isnt for everyone, that is why they have so many tools to help you ( parry, deflect, summon, movement AoW ) to suit many playstyles. Its kind the same how turn-based game, card game, stimulation game,... isnt for everyone because everyone enjoy different things.
That's why I use all the tools at my disposal. Some bosses are straight up bullshit this DLC. So I'm going to bullshit back.
I don't even prioritize damage anymore, my Stats and upgrades are good enough to compensate for it; I have damage negation Talismans and Incantations, I change around the Physicks Flask whether I need Poise or Stance-breaking or whatever. I wear Bull Goat Chest Armor and Legs, and then I use Black Knife (which, on this DLC, the Ash of War is PARTICULARLY good and overlooked lmao, all you need is situational awareness and good positioning, melts bars faster than any ailment).
And then of course, my trusty partners, Greatshield Soldiers, or my clone, Mimic Tear. Never had a problem with the DLC (and tbh, I had more problems with Rellana than I did Consort Radahn, her attack patterns have miniscule telegraphing and are random).
I don't get people's refusal to USE the tools you struggled for IN THE GAME, as if it cheapens the experience or makes them a lesser player. I died so many times to get these items, no way I'm not gonna use them for payback and wreck shit up.
Most of them were fun. The only one that isnt is the last one.

If she didn’t get greedy for the Messmer fight she would have won most of her attempts. She kept trying to stick close to him to get more damage in or get the last hit in. Resulting in Messmer basically ending her on the spot with his aoe attacks. She did well but greed clouded her judgement.

@@NinzaQZ the final boss is not humanoid and 2nd phase has crazy massive AOE moves and has a move that will instantly drop your vigor to 0
