I think it’s perfect to have put a “pretty much stock LS2” in this beauty. Beat on it all you want, every local mechanic can wrench on it if need be, parts are cheap, reliability is high, still runs well and sounds good with plenty of power.

@@AutotopiaLA agreed, that'd be the way to build one too, i love that apache retro work truck you guys featured, it's given me a lot of inspiration for mine. im also surprised no one in the design rooms at GM didn't think of it in 55-57 and have it as an option, it looks killer!

The truck is so understated and its drivable. You don't need 1000hp for an everyday car/truck, unless you have major self control and don't want to lose your license haha

It was originally a stepside, they swapped the bed for a '58 fleetside bed. Chevy didn't make a fleetside until 1958.

1:30 My buddy had this truck dyno’d recently and it was 275hp to the wheels. Posting real numbers just to put things in perspective. I hear Shawn call cars “cruisers” that are claiming 450+ HP. 450+ is a lot if that’s what they’re actually putting down. Not talking shit. Love the content.

He hasn’t gone all in on paint yet so it’s got variations all over
I really wish with some of these old trucks, they'd just use the old straight 6 engines that came with them. With modern performance tweaks, you'd get plenty of hp and boat loads of low end torque. Those trucks just need better suspensions and better transmissions. Kind of sick of the LS/Hellcat type swaps. Those old straight 6's are easy to access and work on too.

I’ll answer my own question since my buddy owns this truck now. It has a second gen Camaro clip, CPP control arms and Shockwave bags.
