I have bought your book and watched your videos, bloody brilliant. It is exactly the right format and information which allows people to learn. Maybe you can help me on how to calculate the right size busbars (positive and negative) that I will need to use.
Thank you for the kind words Nick! The size of busbars will be indicated on the sales page, if you still cannot find it, send me an email for more information.
I am struggling to find the "sales page"@@cleversolarpower
Hi Nick, where do I find the sales page?@@cleversolarpower
Thank you, Very well explained
Thank You ! TAKE CARE..
Your book, web site and videos are excellent. Keep up the good work.
Thanks, will do! More videos are coming. Any suggestions?
Good detailed video ❤
Thank you!
Brilliant explanation you sound like my old physics teacher 🤩👍🏻
Thanks! 😃
All the videos I watched on YT does not cover the voltage drop and amperage drop of any solar panel in cloudily / rainy day . So I did my own test with 2 small panels ( 18 V/1.6 A ) on a 12 V car radiator fan ( I don`t know the A or W ) taken by the Motor .
first test with one panel in bright sun , it dose not run the motor a full capacity and when a cloud pass by it is most likely willing to stop .
Then I put the second one on paralel to get 3.2 A , but has not get a sunny day since now ( first exp was made 2 days before ) actually I am having a mostly cloudy / rainy weather . The motor is running like as if I am having a sunny day with one panel only .
Then I tested the panels in series ( 36 V/1.6A ) and the motor drop down to a slower speed .
So without a Amp meter I am not able to say more about that experience .
Would you please make that same exp as me and tell us about it . Cause It seems to me that the voltage does drop not in rainy condition but the Amperage drop drastically and this is why I get more power on the paralel test .
If you already did that kind of test , Please just give answer to this comment .
Thanks in advance
Indeed, voltage depends on temperature, so you will get higher voltage in low light conditions because the temp of the panel is lower. Sunshine affects the current of the panel. Parallel is worse for voltage drop, to limit voltage drop wire in series.
@@cleversolarpower I need current , I tested them in series and I was very disappointed to see that the motor was responding slowly .
If the voltage drop to 15 V. It would be best for me , cause I won`t have to put a voltage regulator lol .
Oh , by the way I am in Mauritius , and the temp is 17 at its lowest in winter .
I was just testing if few mns before coming here , weather is dull and rainy . I still have my 18 volts , but probably some milliamps' , cause I can only power a 12 V Led lamp .
I already subscribed to your interesting channel few days ago , you are a VERY GOOD teacher and you gave me the answer that I needed . I will probably come with some more questions if ever I go for a bigger project where I will want to make a solar charge controller . ( Yes I love electronic , I wanted to make carrier in that field but I finally fell into photography because of money .Now I am and old man and want to have some fun for the rest of my life 😊😊 . I am a jack of all trade , so plenty of things to be done lol. Hope you will not get bored with me
Many thanks for your reply .
I bought your book also, thx. Quick question. I usually join portable solar panels together via an anderson plug double adapter. 1 panel is portable, the other is fixed to the roof of my car. Does this type of connection also double the amps?
Thanks for getting my book! If you connect in series, which i assume you do, it will increase the voltage while the current stays the same. ensure they have the same rating before connecting them.
Hello,
I'm from Nigeria, West Africa. I've learned a lot from this platform. You're doing a great job.
Kindly clerify me on the following:
1) volt & amp of a solar panel, at the back of my panel are Vmp, imp, voc & isc.
2) using PWM charge controller(s), how best can I configure 4pcs of 190w panels~ with; vmp, imp, voc & isc 10.23 and 2pcs of 350w panels ~ with; vmp 33.60, imp 10.42, voc 40.12 & isc 11.04 using:
a} a 220a tubular battery ~12v system or
b} two 220a tubular batteries ~24v system.
Thanks.
With a pwm you need to match your solar panel voltage to the battery voltage: vmp +5 volts. So your panels should probably be wired in parallel. However, with that many solar panels you should have an mppt.
why 3 days?
2:00 it's because you only have 4 sunhours per day.
@@cleversolarpower thank you. I got it after I typed the question 😅, sorry!
