There are those who criticize ,there are those who belittle, and there are those who are envious and there others who just plain hate ! But you sir inspire, challenge , instruct and encourage us in our photography ,for that I am truly grateful !
I don't get the negativity about the camera. Is medium format for me? No. Could I afford it? Yes, I could if I wanted to. Personally, for me, it's overkill and I'm just not interested in it. I'm happy shooting full frame at 42MP. I'm not going to rag on Adam for shooting medium format with a great camera that serves his vision. It's similar to people who rag on photographers like James Popsys because he shoots Micro 4/3 for the weight savings. Who cares as long as the images are quality and the person who is shooting them is honest and passionate about what they do. Jesus, it's why I keep balking at getting on youtube and maybe making a go at doing this on a more professional basis. God forbid I ever show my fat face with my crooked eye, I'd get skewered by the trolls and numbnuts who have nothing else better to do. TL/DR, Adam, you keep being you and doing what you love. We'll keep watching and we'll keep appreciating the hard work.
Adam is doing a experiment for that camera ahead of everyone else, no matter what we should think respectfully and thankfully. also 20 years later on that camera could be outdated by technology as well.
Thank you for this video. For me, my inspiration for photography was one of the things that suffered in 2020. This caused a ripple effect that brought other issues. As I sit down to write out goals for 2021 getting back into my photography is near the top. Not only because I miss it, but because I have realized how connected it is and the impact that it has to other areas of my well being. It was great timing for me to watch this video that further validates what I believed that I learned about photography in my life. It is more than a hobby. Yes it provides a creative outlet, but more importantly it provides joy. This in turns provides mental and emotional support. I recognize how sappy and dramatic this all sounds, but I do believe this was one of the biggest realizations about myself coming out of last year. I am looking forward to getting back to watching the photography channels, like yours, that I love and getting out into the field to shoot. Thank you again for the hard work that you do to put these together and I wish for you a fantastic 2021.
Adam, thank you so much for staying positive in the face of trolls. I have enjoyed your channel very much over the years and you are an inspiration to me. I like that you tell compelling stories about the photography that you do. Your love for it does shine through. Just know that for ever hater(who has a small mind) there are lots more who love what you do and how you do it. you are one of the content creators who I feel doesn't put out a video just to put out a video but tries very hard to make it into a good story. Thank you
I have to agree 100% there's an element of philosophy or a deeper lesson in his videos, like you say some great UA-cam creators but sometimes feel false, Adam seems to be doing what he loves and letting people watch him do it.. definitely one of my favorite channels.
It is all about the journey to me as well. It is searching for a location, or a scene, or a set of circumstances that evokes a feeling that I want to capture, keep, and share. The cool part of it is those feelings are varied and changing, and every day is an opportunity to do it all over again. It really doesn't matter if anyone else likes your images. What matters is that feeling you get inside when you look at them yourself, and it doesn't matter if you captured the image with your cell phone, medium format camera, or low end DSLR. Get out there and look for those opportunities to capture a feeling.
Last 2 minutes I was so close to cry during watching. Thank you Adam to keeping us inspiring over this bad 2020. I will always remembered this year because during the 1st lockdown I had the opportunity to do one to one call with you! happy new year Mate! Big hug from Italy ❤️
"creating moments that we will remember forever". It doesn't matter what you capture that with. The winning image for Landscape photographer of the year 2020 was captured on a crop sensor Nikon camera. What ever tools you use you can still achieve your dreams & ambitions.
Well said Adampeople that negative comments must live a miserable existence and don't appreciate how much time that is put into what you and others do. It is very selfless what you and others share and is appreciated by me and many more. Thanks for sharing, Happy New Year, cheers.... Peter.
For every a-hole out there Adam, there are 100 or 1000 other persons who appreciate and love what you guys & girls do on UA-cam. We can journey with you on your adeventures and at the same time learn and improve our own skills. So keep up the terrific work you’re doing and hope to see much more from you in the coming year. To a-holes who threaten people I say, think twice and look deep in your soul to determine why you react the way you react, and you will probably see that it is not the vlogger who upsets you, but the frustrations which are rooted within yourself. Don’t hide behind the social media anonymity shield, but be a real “ man” and present yourself (and then I think you”ll not be so hatefull to others who haven’t done anything to offend you)!
"We shouldn't be cutting corners without understanding what the corner is that we're cutting." I like that. That makes perfect sense to me. I love your channel, I really do! Happy New Year my friend!
Here in Australia 🇦🇺 it’s already 2021 and yours is the first photography vlog I have watched for the new year. Hope to see more from you out in that wonderful english countryside soon. Wishing you a Happy New Year Adam, have a fantastic 2021. Thanks for sharing again your time and photos. Stay safe.
Just so inspiring, loved the last clip. It is about being out amongst nature and taking it all in and if we can capture the moment. Look forward to continuing your journey in 2021, all the very best.
Thanks Adam and Happy New Year to you. I am indebted to your words of wisdom and your positivity and I find this gives me both inspiration and hope about my aspirations in landscape photography. Your videos are essential viewing for me. Thank you!
Adam, thank you for what you do, and how well you do it (and say it). We all need positivity and like you, I'm determined to always look for the positives. Frankly, its just nice to watch your well produced videos for escapism from some crap TV, and then there's the added bonus that your videos are educational, informative and encouraging, but especially inspirational. Keep doing what you are doing and best wishes to you and yours for a brighter 2021. I've got the opportunity for a commission for a series of images around my town and immediate area (in the Cotswolds) and I've realised that it's your "mentoring" I'm using when considering how to approach the project. Keep making a positive difference.
I always enjoy your content, tips and insights in your videos. Your positivity is much appreciated and inspiring. Thanks, Adam. Keep up the great work!
Adam, your content is unique, engaging, and enjoyable. The last three minutes of this installment are hugely inspiring, and I liked it very much. Here's to 2021!
I spoiled myself and bought the gfx 100 about a year ago it took about 8 paychecks for me to purchase it ..its a stunning camera i dont regret it .so CONGRATS to you if you do get it ..you remind me of myself i like to print big so if i want to print big i can do it with no problem...so keep on shooting n dont look back !!!!!!
I love your video because they always aspire us to be better photographer and better people. It is quite easy to find photography tutorials but finding good inspiration not so much and you’re videos always give me that plus the energy to go out and get out of my confort zone. I look forward for a new year of photography. Also i think a collaboration video with Thomas Heaton would be cool (once the armageddon is over). Happy New Year
I've also noticed an increase in negativity and I find it deeply troubling, finding reasons to put other people down seems to have become a kind of weird hobby for some. Your positivity and enthusiasm have certainly benefitted me and spurred me to spend more time out in nature with the camera, and that's been one o the few things getting me through 2020 so thank you!
Adam, your videos are always a pleasure to watch, they're educational, inspiring and yes, entertaining, you have a way of keeping the viewer (me anyway) engaged to the point were I’m not paying attention to the gear that you’re using at that moment. Keep doing what you are doing, stay safe and have a happy new year.
It's always great to hear your thoughts on photography and life in general Adam. Watching your videos is always an inspiring way to spend a little down time. Happy New Year mate. Looking forward to viewing your adventures over the coming months 😊😊
I’ve thoroughly enjoyed your output this year, the good vibes I felt in 2019 have continued and I look forward to your videos every week. I wish you all the best for 2021, health, happiness, and continued success. On the GFX100, I’m a quiet but happy XT-1 user and I’m always very interested to see what better cameras can achieve these days. Super impressed with the images, amazing quality!
Thank you for your great quality and inspiring videos, Adam. I agree with your decision to no longer disclose locations to help preserve the location. Wish you the best in 2021! Cheers.
What a great way to round off the year. Thanks for sharing your photos, videos, thoughts and insights. They’re always lucid and well-considered. Looking forward to another excellent year’s content from First Man Photography. Happy New Year, Adam. 🙏🏼👌🏼🍾
Thankyou for the content you share. You are 100% right about negativity, it has no place on social media. It's the dark nasty side that if I could press a button to stop, I would do. Have a great 2021. Cheers
Thanks First Man. You were one of my first vloggers when I started searching on you tube. Honest words as always. Love your work and attitude. Look forward to 2021. It is amazing the more you get out and see, learn and experience the more you are enriched. ✌️
I have followed your channel for a long time and never once did I care about what camera you used. Of course I am fascinated what new technology can bring, but I believe if you cannot take a good photograph with almost any camera from the last 4/5 years, then it is not the cameras fault. I enjoy watching your outings into the countryside together with the tips and inspiration I get from them. Looking forward to your content for 2021. About the keyboard warriors/trolls, may they unite and fall in a dark sad hole somewhere and let the rest of us get on with our lives.
I’ve gained a lot from watching your content. I find it insightful, thoughtful, and genuine. Yes I don’t afford a beautiful Fuji state of the art camera. But so what!.!? I agree whole heartedly with your point of view that great shots should be printed. I loved seeing what the Fuji can capture,it makes a great shot a great print! I shoot with a d810. It has produced some beautiful printed images,so I continue using it. And I applaud any photographer who manages to find really good gear to match their vision! People seriously need to ratchet down whatever that is that makes them spineless trolls online. Troll...If your mother was to ever hear how you communicate online, she might just die of shame.
Great sentiments Adam. Like many others, I have no inclination to go beyond Full frame but I would not knock anyone who wants to do that. I like to learn from UA-cam, but I don't see it as finding things to replicate. I saw Nick Page and Gary Gough talking about copying other photographer's work as a good way to get started, and I agree, but what camera you are using has little bearing on that. It's like saying if you learn to drive in a Ford you can never drive a BMW - bonkers! I have a trip planned to visit North Yorkshire in March, if allowed, so, where should I put my tripod and what f-stop should I use????? Keep doing what you do Adam and have a great 2021.
Brilliant images from 2020 Adam. Big fan of your videos and it’s always interesting to hear online other people opinion on some kit. Keep up the good work for 2021. I love the look of the GFX systems as a Canon 5DMK3 and XT3 user myself.
Great content again, I love watching your vlog. I just wish I could get out and use the camera more, but decided to treat myself and have a look at your landscape masterclass. Happy New Year and keep the videos coming.
Really good mix of advice. As early learner I believe that on location workflow knowledge is super important. Have been on a Scottish workshop working in all weathers, the ability to set up you gear quickly ( second nature) can make or break a location and therefore the image. I rightly was told I was working in slowmo and In the pouring rain that’s not good ! Any chance of a vlog on location workflow? MJ
Yes, ignore the haters!! I was intrigued by the Fuji camera, too, but understood the video wasn't about the camera. Loved the videos from 2020, look forward to 2021.
Nice point about the artistic vs. technical side of photography. For me, that has always been one of the most fascinating aspects. It's that blend of technical skill and artistic vision that makes it so much fun. I do disagree with your comment about the technical side taking over. Mastery of the technical side was necessary for me to give my images the artistic interpretation that I could see in my mind.
Nice video Adam, thanks for all the creative videos of the last year, look forward to 2021. Great words as usual, although I take a different approach to locations, i geo tag most of my locations on flickr, ok I don’t have a UA-cam channel or as many followers as you, but I just see things differently in regards to this aspect
totally agree on the location issue since people are trashing areas now more than ever. good info. On a different note, there are so many channels now that are essentially imitation of others at this point; not trying to be negative with this, just an observation. Being original is important!
Happy New Year Adam - thanks for all you excellent videos - always great, practical common sense. Ignore the "haters" - I've always found this quite easy to do though I know many people take the rubbish they talk to heart.
I'm more artist than geek 😂 ... I prefer a solid work tool and working hard on it instead to waste money on the last sophisticated gear. I've done this with my guitars (Fender), cameras (Canon) and computers (Apple) they are all long lasting solid tools that let me be creative. Thank you, it’s always a pleasure to watch your videos. Happy New Year.
Another top notch Vlog Adam. Thanks for sharing your vision with us. To the haters, vote with your feet and don't watch. Adam, if you get the chance to photograph Saturn with the Hubble Telescope, I'll watch in awe at the possibility. Could I afford it? No. But it wouldn't stop me enjoying another great video.
People shoot with different gear for different reasons. I shoot with an APS-C sensor camera for a reason. Now I could have gone full frame but I shoot mostly Macro and I like the extra reach and greater depth of field achievable with APS-C. I also don't print larger than A2 because I don't need too. Dont get hung up on gear. Take an entry level Nikon D3400/D3500 for example. It used the same sensor as the flagship D500. I always think with the more you pay, your paying for more features mostly over image quality. Me, I use a D5600 for the Veri-angle screen so I can get down low and for the features mentioned above. APS-C is also lighter than full frame which is handy.
Adam this was a great video as usual. I'm happy that you want to better your photography with a med format cam. Its just all these haters like you said trying to bring you down or what ever. Im looking into bettering my photography by looking into a full frame cam. Anyway it was a great video, all the best for the new year
I was shocked to hear the aggressive criticism levelled at you and other photographers. I was, until now, completely unaware of such goings on. I genuinely don’t understand the hatred displayed by some people just because they don’t happen to like something. I try to respect everyone’s point of view, even if they disagree with what I do. However, I really take exception when they try to impose their views and opinions on me. I enjoy your channel and keep testing the full range of photographic equipment, including the most expensive and exotic! A happy and Healthy New Year to you.
Hi Adam. I don't understsnd these mindless people, that write some of the drivel that is directed at yourself and others like Thomas Heaton, who produce fantastic videos that inspire all of us landscape photographers. Whether it's taken on a 100 megapixel medium format camera or on your mobile phone. It's not the equipment you're using but your enthusiasm for the subject and the ideasyou have that keep us watching. I look forward to seeing more of your content in 2021. Happy New Year Adam.
There are those who criticize ,there are those who belittle, and there are those who are envious and there others who just plain hate ! But you sir inspire, challenge , instruct and encourage us in our photography ,for that I am truly grateful !

Just love your channel. Thank you for the wonderful work and the deep thoughts. Looking forward to seeing more of this. Happy New Year!

Thank you Adam, for all the inspiration you gave me this past year. I wish you the very best for 2021. Greetings from The Netherlands.

Well done Adam - keep up the good work.
I can't wait to have mine
As usual, I love your upbeat inspiration Adam!! Happy new year!!
Great video Adam and Happy New Year 🎉
Hello Adam,
Inspiring as always. Thank you. Happy New Year.
Hi Adam,
I wish I had the confidence to go out on my own... I really enjoy your videos and photography, wishing you a blessed New Year,
This is a lovely video to end the year on and really inspiring as always.
All the best in the new year!
Great video, especially the last bit looking forward to 2021 - Staying positive. Happy New Year and keep up the good work
Glad to hear you are using a Fuji as well as your other cameras. Mine is a XT-4, whole new adventure.
Once again a beautifully crafted and inspiring vlog. Looking forward to 2021 !
Thank you from an admirer in South Africa. This was inspiring and even non technical I stilk increased my knowledge.
Thank you Adam for all your wonderful and inspiring videos and look forward to more in 2021. Keep safe 💛
A great video, many thanks. Happy New Year Adam
Nice, a great finish and so well put, thank you for sharing in 2020. 👍🙂
totally agree on the location issue since people are trashing areas now more than ever.
Wonderful philosophy, Adam.
All the very best for 2021.
Absolutely beautiful images 👌😍
So now I have uninstalled Adobe CC and started learning Da Vinci and Capture One. A lot cheaper and it all looks good...thank you and let's go!
Thanks Adam for all your amazing content this year you inspired me to do great photography 😀thank you
I'm more artist than geek 😂 ...
Outstanding video! Need not say more. Thanks
When you're not merely experiencing the scene but you realize the scene is experiencing you, that's an intimate moment of flow.
👍🏻👍🏻 this vid needs more than one thumbs up. Thanks for bringing such inspiration and positivity to us.
Hey bro, thank you. Love your vlogs.

Thanks for sharing!
Adam this was a great video as usual. I'm happy that you want to better your photography with a med format cam. Its just all these haters like you said trying to bring you down or what ever. Im looking into bettering my photography by looking into a full frame cam.
Anyway it was a great video, all the best for the new year
Brilliant vlog. Happy New Year to you.
Great Vlog
