I'm going to see how long it took for each student to press the button. (I'll go from when the rabbit finishes the question to when the student presses the button. Spoilers if anyone from the future is watching. Time stamps: Ken Hasegawa: 2:06 to 2:08 (2 seconds) Keizou Harada: 2:29 to 2:51 (22 seconds) Mai Hayashi: 3:28 to 3:29 (responded immediately) Ran Hama: 3:55 to 4:04 (9 seconds) Masanari Wada: 4:51 to 5:09 (18 seconds, but from 5:07 to 5:09 it's only 2 seconds.) Miki Isono: from 5:34 to 5:49 (15-16 seconds) Hitomi Sasaki: 6:02 to 6:13 (11 seconds) Nakamigawa Hiroaki: 6:42 to 6:51 (9 seconds) Hanano Okazaki: Pressed at 7:34 (answered before question was completed. Shigeki Yanagi: 8:08 to 8:10 (2-3 seconds) Airi Chiba: 8:35 to 8:42 (7 seconds) Nishino Watari: 9:10 to 9:16 (6 seconds) Ruiko Tamba: 9:58 to 10:06 (8 seconds) Manami Tsuno: 10:38 to 11:15 (36-37 seconds) Kazutoshi Kamimura: 12:16 to 12:33 (17 seconds) Takeshi Ojima: 13:01 to 13:11 (10 seconds) So the top three goes to Tsuno, Harada, and then Wada or Kamimura however you look at it.
I find it interesting that Okazaki had an issue with the last person's confession being the "easiest" (not knowing it involved Ojima's CSA), despite them technically having it the easiest as they pressed the button before their confession could be fully read aloud. I wonder what it is they're hiding.
8:02 ..Yanagi's response to this makes me feel as though he *does* feel as though he had something to do with it. Like he *hasn't* forgiven himself for that yet. Also, 8:30 Chiba seems to be trying to avoid just how messed up her fact is. It seems like she doesn't want to ever admit to herself, much less others, that she's been through more for her fame than she should've been. And with 10:18 , Tamba seems to have had jealousy issues that she's grown from since she was younger. I mean, nobody in a normal state of mind would hurt someone because "she was constantly the focus of every routine", right? It also seems like *everyone's* very off-kilter, also irritable, because of the sleep deprivation. Let's hope it doesn't lead to anything too bad.
Yeah Chiba’s response to her thing was really interesting, like it definitely seems oddly specific how it was stated she’s been hospitalised for malnutrition so many times and like any normal person wouldn’t have to go through that, and I don’t suspect she has some sort of disorder that could cause that. So yeah I’m thinking that perhaps was inflicted upon her and probably relates to her acting and how she still looks so small despite her age. And how she’s downplaying it either she’s repressing it or she was told it wasn’t a problem/necessary. Might be a stretch but I can somewhat imagine Chiba’s family/producers deliberately abusing her in that manner and stunting her growth so she can consistently remain childlike without having to swap actors Even looking at it again she immediately dodged the question and went to something super off topic so yeah she definitely doesn’t want to talk about it
@LanieMae THAT'S the thing! I think that Chiba was kept the way to the point of malnutrition so that she would "stay a child", so they wouldn't need to swap actors. Hell, it's likely she doesn't even regress- she just *had* to act this way for so long she doesn't know how else to act. At least that's what I think. As Hama said, there is something wrong with EVERYONE here!!
Do you think Yanagi’s question has something to do with why he’s afraid of his bedroom? Or why Yanagi is so easily swayed to authority? I’m pretty positive Hasegawa’s Dad is the person in his confession, maybe that’s why his Mom’s so close to him.
This is actually an amazing yet really messed up way of learning about the characters through a twisted game show of sorts, almost like the secret motive in dr1. In fact thinking about it these games could be even more of a motive having these characters secrets spilled to each other like this, I wonder if it’s gonna come up later
I feel so awful for them omg... I can't imagine how bad it is to be forced to admit something they didn't want anyone to know... so many of these secrets hurt, man... :(
Man this episode was absolutely wild and we got so much character info but in the worst way possible. So of course by my usual standards I’m going to jump right to theorising about some of the characters I find particularly interesting here. *Chiba* hers stuck out really interesting to me as the statement that she’s been hospitalised multiple times for malnutrition explains a lot and also opens up a lot of implications with her backstory. So of course this is an explanation to why she looks like a 7yo at 17, one of the symptoms of malnutrition (specifically undernutrition) can be stunted growth both physically and mentally, which explains Chiba’s condition. But the implications bought from this since she’s a child star of such high specialty, it comes as a suggestion that her family/producers were deliberately starving her and not giving her enough proper foods to properly develop. Most likely because they didn’t want to change actors. And the main effects of malnutrition start at a very early stage to become permanent I can imagine Chiba’s entire life, her entire existence everyone shaped around her to be a child star, and especially since that’s all her roles maybe as well she can’t discern between acting and how she is normally. Makes me wonder if the world outside of her acting noticed how she never aged and wondered if something was going on behind the scenes, especially from how many times she’s been hospitalised. *Ojima:* so uhhhh, Jesus fucking Christ I suspected he’d have a traumatic backstory but just, damn. So the PTSD conformation is interesting, I didn’t really suspect that at first but I can see how it ties into his character. I’m not too familiar with PTSD so please correct me if I’m wrong, but at it’s core stems from traumatic events and has symptoms of flashbacks, anxiety, hypervigilance, and avoidance of reminders of the event. I’m not entirely sure we’ve really seen most of these core symptoms, but at the same time it is still chapter 1 and this is a quicker analysis, and makes me wonder if we actually see an attack later on as the condition was directly specified making me think it’s going to be important. Although symptoms such as lack of positive emotions, being emotionally numb, irritability and concentration problems are definitely prevalent. The avoidance of reminders of the events strike me as confusing with Ojima’s response to Monomoko revealing his trauma, as well as Hiroaki bringing it up, as it definitely seems he was distressed but he didn’t really react in an extreme way from initial inspection, but there could be a lot of reasons for this. Although another major thing within PTSD is avoidance, especially with avoiding remembering or thinking about the event, and as well as his dissociation. Another thing I suspect is that more specifically he could have C-PTSD, which is closely related to PTSD and occurs from prolonged/chronic trauma. It also includes more symptoms such as emotion regulation, identity, and distorted personal relationships which we have seen more of. And going onto something I haven’t seen discussed much but I also think is very interesting, is his connection to childish things. His job/talent is as an illustrator, specifically with children’s books, and he says that it’s his favourite thing in the world to do. Also in “group meeting” with the discussion of the whole vent thing he briefly rejoins the conversation and suggests fantastical ideas such as a grappling hook or flying, while still seeming to be half absorbed in a daydream. Which makes me wonder if he retreats/regresses to a child like mentality at times, as that can be a trait in trauma survivors. *Tamba:* Although arguably not as severe as the others, Tamba’s secret is in interesting idea to her mindset. We haven’t seen too much of her but the idea of her physically injuring a colleague to get further in her own field could definitely be important in the killing game. It definitely seems like this she has jealousy issues, and in a case where she felt as she wasn’t on top, instead of giving up or trying to improve herself she sabotaged the competition. I can definitely imagine her being an early killer from her tendency towards violence as of here, and how she acts defiant but deep down she can be really scared, as seen in the first interview. *Kamimura:* his is also just geez. We only get info on what he attempted to do, and understandably had the most extreme reaction especially his panic attack in lapse right after. To me I feel like it may be too obvious for him to be the first killer? I’m not sure but he definitely has a lot of potential as a character. And I’m thinking what happened to lead him to trying to do something like that, on multiple occasions. Kamimura is stated to have both physical and mental health issues, albeit unspecified ones which. Just a theory but from how he gets stressed whenever that is bought up, he probably can’t accept himself for them. I think it’s very likely he dealt with a lot of bullying for his conditions, and that’s why he’s like this. But again we don’t have too much of an idea to his backstory yet, and I believe he has a lot to grow in the series, especially his friendship with hasegawa. Something kind of off topic but I also kinda want to note is his profession as a crime scene cleaner. He’s very used to blood and death and stuff but notably a lot of incidents that people of that profession clean up are snicides. So from his work kamimura would have witnessed lots of people who have taken their lives and seen the aftermath of stuff like that. So it’s definitely into consideration this and how he attempted that himself. I wonder if like wada, he feels as he has no one who is close to him or cares about him if he’s gone. *Yanagi:* Yanagi’s exposure to domestic violence in childhood to me gives an explanation to why he treats women so weirdly. He probably witnessed a lot of violence from his father towards his mother, likely rooted in misogyny. But my interpretation is that instead of his behaviours being influenced by his father (assumed), perhaps he knew what was going on was bad. And instead of adopting that mindset himself he went the other extreme. Viewing women as weak and pitiful, not to be abused but to be protected and taken care of by others. He has this whole prince/nice guy thing going on and I can imagine this stems from what he experienced as a kid. That he’s legitimately trying to be nice, but is extremely misguided.
Malnutrition can delay puberty.... child actors have it ROUGH Edit: watched the rest of the video, why are they putting these people through MORE trauma
Isn’t it particularly noteworthy that compared to all the other students, Harada is the only person who’s secret isn’t traumatic in a way? Like yeah have being in 8 different romantic relationships is kinda weird but nowhere near what the other characters have either done or have been subjected to. I don’t know if this is important or not but It’s something I keep thinking about.
I'll be honest, there IS smth off about why his is the only one that doesn't SEEM traumatic. But remember his student spotlight video, where it's stated that he has a current girlfriend. It's possible this may be his secret because his trauma/issue is WHY his eight relationships have broken. Perhaps due to his worklife balance, in which his absence caused his relationships to fall apart? Just speculation tho. There *are* another things to remember, though. He has made bad decisions he regrets, and there is something he really, truly hates. I don't know how they tie into this, but there *could* be more to Harada than meets the eye.
@@DoubleAgent05 yeah I thought about that but it kinda came to me as strange as the rabbit very clearly stated the traumatic experiences the others went through, but never specified what happened to harada’s relationships in the past which I felt was odd
I love how so many people have really dark secrets, even the ones who seem completely stable on the surface. Like Isono hospitalising her elder sister and Tsuno being a former drug addict. It’s so interesting that almost all of them have been through some shit. I’m really hoping that we get more games like this in Chapter 2 because all of the info and interactions that we’re getting from these really adds to the tension of the killing game (and gives us fans more fodder for analysis 😏).
Wow that was intense, a lot this cast has been through some shit. Between the initial motive and this, i'm kinda of terrified for the next motive because they are pressing these guys REALLY HARD. Here's a list of everyone's confessions: Hasegawa: this student witnessed the death of a close family member at age 6 Harada: this student has been in 8 different romantic relationships Hayashi: this student has killed before Hama: this student has spent a considerable amount of time in juvenile detention centers Wada: this student spent their childhood in and out of foster care Isono: this student put their own older sister in the hospital Sasaki: this student has been in an intimate relationship with a teacher Hiroaki: this student once put themselves into two hundred thousand yen worth debt through purchasing narcotics Okazaki: this student as preformed unlicensed- (gets cut off) Yanagi: this student's family fell apart due to domestic violence and alcoholism Chiba: on several occasions, this student has been hospitalized for malnutrition Watari: this student purposely drove their parents to a messy divorce Tamba: this student has purposely, physically harmed a colleague in order to get further in their field Tsuno: this student lied about taking a vacation to cover for attending rehabilitation for drug addiction Kamimura: this student has made, and failed, multiple attempts on their own life Ojima: this student suffers PTSD as a result of childhood sexual abuse
