Hasegawa getting excited to play trivia like games will always be my favorite thing. Nice to see this game be less intense than the other ones that have been played, although i'm sure the punishment everyone is going to receive later will sour the mood. Also poor Wada :(
rewatching this, gosh, this episode is so fun! so many amazing moments...some of my favourite things abt this ep: hasegawa losing all his normal nervousness, "FUCK YES!" "kick his ass! "wreck her!", hasegawa and kamimura hyping each other up and being a perfect team, "nakamigawa this BETTER not be you!!" "WHY IS HE SUDDENLY SO INTIMIDATING?!?!?", kamimura's soft surprise at others inviting him to sit with them, isono crying tears of joy before winning, that was SO funny, id also cry if i were to win against someone like hasegawa 😭😭 also hasegawa's first 'good game' sounding soft, almost disappointed, but his second being stronger and more genuine- cause he played to win, but stakes were higher for isono. and in the face of such selflessness and goodness, the win becomes less important so he doesnt have to feel disappointed. still, i think if he'd won he'd have given his reward to kamimura. SPOILERS FOR CHAP 1 TRIAL: this is touching but also so so so sad because if isono had not given the protection away she might have survived longer...sasaki's attack was spur-of-the-moment, she snapped, and with her it was mostly about being able to *rest* , not escape sure, BUT if isono was protected and sasaki had this fact somewhere at the back of her mind- that might have stopped her from attacking.
Thinking about some of the stuff revealed in this episode, defo not as bad as decision game but still pretty interesting. Kamimura’s is sad as this definitely gives more info onto his backstory. It’s stated that his first experience with his occupation was after a tragic incident at age nine. So from this it’s heavily implied that he witnessed a death at that age. And may just be speculating here but it’s more than just witnessing it, he’s a crime scene cleaner, so he must’ve tried to clean it up for whatever reason. Maybe it could been like a family member or even a murder. And kamimura tried to clean up the crime scene maybe to protect someone or himself? The statement is very vague but at the same time I feel like there’s a lot to it and it may become important later. Also kamimura and hasegawa shared trauma witnessing a death as a child. I’m really intrigued with Okazaki’s statement because we know so little about her and one of the first things we truly know about her is that she got away with embezzlement is uhh something. There’s definitely so much going on with her and especially with how she pressed the button early in confession game this may relate to that, that she’s been involved in some pretty big stuff while remaining secretive. I honestly can’t piece together what may have happened but I’ve seen theories that maybe she’s involved in some crime organisation or is an unlicensed surgeon or whatever. But damn okazaki is such a mysterious and interesting character. With Ojima’s one it’s pretty interesting like, how do you drop out of therapy EIGHT TIMES? But thinking about it and especially with the episode after this with Sasaki and how he was reluctant about the topic. I can imagine that he didn’t choose to go therapy himself but perhaps was pressured by his boss to do so as his daydreaming was getting in the way of his work. And especially with how stigmatised mental illness is in Japan perhaps that was done with intention of “fixing” him to become more productive. That he’s not making a deliberate effort to actually have the therapy work or whatever as for him as his coping mechanisms of daydreaming would be easier. And who knows maybe he’s been with some pretty shitty therapists as well.
HASEGAWA AND ISONO WERE BOTH SO CUTE IN THIS ONE OH MY GOD I LOVE THEM SO MUCH i love monomoko being surprised that someone would be selfless enough to give their protection to someone else i love how goofy yanagi and tsuno are with their larping HASEGAWA SAYING FUCK YES MADE ME SQUEAL HE AND KAMIMURA ARE SO CUTE I'M SIIICK yanagi stuttering whenever hayashi is in his vicinity makes me giggle my assumption about yanagi's cheating situation is that maybe because of his whole princely thing is that maybe a girl assumed he did it with romantic intentions and assumed they were dating? i doubt he would cheat on purpose. not princely behavior.
SPOILERS FOR CHAPTER 2 Chiba: *gets her question wrong* Sasaki: "It's called critical thinking!" Ojima: "No need to go for the neck..." After Trial 2, this exchange makes me feel nauseous. Well played Von, you sick, sick genius.
Okay I have a theory and idk how much sense it makes. Given how a lot of focus has been put on the friendships between Wada, Isono and Tsuno, it's expected for at least one of them to die. And call me crazy, but I think Tsuno's helpfulness is all an act: she's been slowly poisoning Wada over time, so that it can't easily be traced back to her. And now that Isono has passed on her immunity to Wada, and Tsuno was the first to object to this development, it means that all her efforts have been in vain and that she might kill Wada for no reason. Especially if she can't give him an antidote. Like I said, this is a pretty nonsensical theory but I wonder if there's any truth in there
Implied Spoiler: I sometimes wonder how different things would have been, if Isono accepted the protection for herself. I like to think that this single-handedly protected Wada on this Chapter. Because if not for the protection, he would have been the perfect target for a murder.
Looking back on this. Spoilers for first death Isono’s kindness really did her in. Although considering Sasaki’s murder wasn’t exactly planned it’s likely she would have still died either way
Isn't there kind of a point to choosing to kill the protected person? While it won't let the killer escape it also allows them not to risk getting executed and it's still a "killing" so the sleep deprivation should end or at least the punishments from the punishment game
