N scale Kato SD40-2 Snoot conversion to DCC and sound

Wanted to use this engine on DCC. I will do the conversion using the XL System DCC and Sound drop in decoder. Follow along as I complete this.

As a rule of thumb, if the wheels on your Kato locomotive are a shiny black pearl colour with no wear rings, you got yourself a new unit!

A lot. I buy used lots of freight cars on eBay. Mostly Bachmann. The cylindrical hoppers are from Intermountain. I made a video on them: what to do if you mess up.
