Great movie. Not all bad as people say.
This was a great movie. When I saw it on sale I ran out and bought it on video while in college. They should have brought her back for Superman IV to help fight Brainiac and rescue the bottled city of Kandor, instead of Lex Luthor, again.
Ah if only you were a movie producer, sir
The Salkinds are cheap and wouldn’t pay for it. Thats why everything turned to shit.
Helen Slater is every guys first crush
Its real shamed. We never got see helen slater & Christopher Reeve to gether. In Superman 3.
SUPERGIRL 40TH ANNIVERSARY 1984-2024!
My god she’s beautiful.
I love how this happens, Christopher Reeves’ Superman is even referenced in the film and yet the Superman films (or maybe there was only one more Superman film after this) totally act like this never happened
still the sexiest supergirl
She would've made a good Sailor Moon in live action
The Salkinds and the director are to blame for this movie failing. Helen Slater was a wonderful Supergirl.
Instant dopamine rush.. No other film really made me feel the joy of what it must be like to fly
Helen Slater is the standout as Supergirl in the movie she makes the movie worth watching in my opinion and she’s also hot 🥵 as Supergirl and in the movie in general. For “The Flash” Andy Muschietti should’ve brought her onto set and had her play an older version of the 1984 Supergirl and maybe have her interact with Sasha Calle’s Supergirl in the film
0:07 Transformation Sequence Initiated.
0:45 Transformation Completed.
0:46 I don't remember this part scene, somewhat they deleted for no reason
I remember it
It was cut for the USA VERSION and VHS release.
I suggest you look for the full clip of the flying ballet on here to complete the scene as this video is cut
Things came full circle in The Flash movie when Christopher Reeve Superman and Helen Slater Supergirl reunited. What a magical moment.
NOBODY CARES 😂
If the story is complete, please post it. Full movie
Shut the front door.....you mean Supergirl is from Inner Erf ?Superman came here from a different galaxy....what sorcery is this ??? 😳
Argo was in thrown into innerspace when Krypton exploded ... not inner earth.
Still never understood where she got her costume from
It's one of many things that's never explained in this movie. Slater is honestly the only good thing about it besides the Jerry Goldsmith score.
You can literally see it lying in the bottom of the space capsule right at the beginning! 🙄
@TheUnknownMagician2024 That's true. It must have mysteriously appeared on her if that capsule was magically. However, there have been a few names whether it's a costume she's wearing (the Groundskeeper named Ethan called it a costume also), in real life people call it a uniform and she calls it her clothes especially when Ethan said to her, "what's with the Halloween costume?" and she said "this is not a costume these are my clothes" but, I guess she only said it's her clothes as an excuse to hide her identity.
@@TallSilentGuy All that stuff she sat on looked like shiny cloths while her uniform doesn't look very shiny which would mean that, that wasn't the uniform she wore. Plus, if that really was the uniform in the space capsule she wore, it's unknown why the boots were not in there since she was barefoot the whole time and was barefoot when she got into the capsule. That space capsule must be magically and put the uniform on her along with the boots and gave her superpower.

ok
Production values were good in part - and some of the ideas are interesting - but the storyline is really goofed up! Much of it doesn't make any sense. For instance, where did the suit come from....and how did she know to put it on? We see both men & women in Argo City, but there was only a woman's supersuit in the pod? And then there's the superthin saran wrap shield around Argo City. How did they originally build the thing if you're blown away without it?
I thought that Argo city was destroyed on the planet krypton explosion impact it can't be alive underwater
Enh, my take is that the method of travel she used cause the pod to land underwater, then she had to surface.
I love helen slater, she's beautiful, and she can act, but this script was terrible. They really did do the character dirty in this film.
They make her look dumb, naive, and the villain is something more akin to a mel brooks comedy if you ask me.
An invisible monster? Turn a lady on her head and spin her around with her legs spread open? The omegahedron lands smack dab in front of the villain to take right away and what's more she just knows how to use it to her advantage right away.
I'd say the film was made to fail, but the guy who wrote the screenplay is known for wacky stuff.
Horabile movie
It was the 80s and supergirl has never been treated like superman what did you expect
Unfortunately this movie bombing ended up causing them to kill the character off
This movie was terrible when I saw it as a kid & time has not been kind too it; HOWEVER, there are some admirable efforts throughout (with questionable results) but I think Helen Slater did a fine job. For me, it's composer Jerry Goldsmith who made the best contribution to this patchwork mess. The glorious music score is in many ways its saving grace. I have the soundtrack album and it plays very well on its own apart from the movie. Goldsmith was the first choice to be the composer for Richard Donner's "Superman: The Movie" but his commitment to Richard Attenborough's thriller "Magic" made him unavailable and that's how John Williams got the job. One wonders if Goldsmith's Supergirl score would have bore any resemblance to what he would have done for Superman.
You can legit say it has a few deep deep flaws, but... overall... it wasn't bad.
