I have the Holosun. Aside from the affordability, I like that it extends back farther so that it clears a rear flip-up sight but also I don't have to get my face as near as with others and possibly take my stock in a notch from where I'm normally comfortable in terms of length of pull. Yeah the hinge isn't the strongest, but so far it's held up fine.
this is true, especially if you have a small neck like me. I have mine at the very back of the rail and have just enough eye relief having my stock one click out. Backup iron is in front of the mag.
The Vortex VIP lifetime warranty is no joke. I had a vortex optic I bought 12 years ago. The reticle finally died. They sent me a postage paid label and ended up shipping me a newer model to replace my old one. 2 weeks in total and $0 cost. I’ve sent stuff to holosun as well. They were ok. You just don’t know what is happening until a month later it shows back up at your door.
I've just ordered a red dot and their 6x magnifier based on their lifetime warranty for airsoft use. Hopefully it's as good as it claims because i don't want to run a sight protector.
There are two screws on the mount that control the "snap" on the holosun. Tightening those can tend to increase the force required to flip it to the side. If you ever remove the hinge screw, you will need to loosen them in order to re-insert it. (Don't ask me how I know. I just do. Because things. And, uh, stuff.)
Holosun red dots are great. Dont let the Made in China fool you. Yes its Chinese unfortunately but...it has a way sharper MOA and dot compared to an American made Eotech and is much cheaper than Eotech and at the end the quality of the dot and sight view is all that should matter.
Good video, currently the HM3X is half the price of the vortex, so accessible to more people. Also I'm one of those "big guys with long arms" so I so appreciate the HM3X's eye relief, as I tired the HM3XT and sent it back for precisely the reason you stated about the vortex.
Would b great to see the Micro style Holosun model would be a better comparison to the Vortex Micro I have this Holosun What I don’t like about it is the stiff eye adjust. Wondering if the new elite Holosun micro is a more free turning eyepiece. I am a big Holosun Circle dot fan and have dealt with there warranty a couple times they have taken care of me but are pretty tight. Like if you bought it from an Unauthorized dealer say Bay they claim they will stop warranting those even though purchased New.🤔
I have both of these very excited when vortex came out with this shorter magnifier but after mounting on my rifle I'm not happy had to adjust my stock way more forward because the eye relief is not the same although stated the eye relief is equal in real world use its not I'm waiting on holosuns new almost identical hm3xt to the vortex to buy and see how the eye relief is on it cause not happy with the vortex great video good info you did a nice job
I use an 45 degree offset iron sight that allows me to mount it between the red dot and magnifier, bringing it much closer to me and allowing proper eye relief.
I wish you could of played Chris Farley’s whole line in the last clip at the end about how he feels about the warranty maybe then you would of chose Holosun. 😆
Great comparison.... I'm still going with the holosun though ... it's a great magnifier and it matches my 510c perfectly I originally wanted to go all eotech, but every shop & most reviews all recommended the 510c over the eotech. Super happy with my purchase . and the green dot version I bought is awesome! Also considering Im buying the same set up for at least 3 of my weapons , the cost savings adds up quick . I get you could buy one and swap it around , but I much prefer to have each with its own full set up and ready to go
I just put a 510C on my rifle. Thinking of getting the Holosun magnifier also to help with those longer distance shots. How has the Holosun held up? Does it stay flipped to the side while shooting close distances or is it bouncing around?
Is lens clarity and eye box distance (and warranty) the difference between airsoft grade and bottom shelf actual gun worthy gear? Because that may not be that bad of an option at least for a magnifier
Could you tell me what the mounting hole spacing is on both magnifiers please? I am trying to determine if the Holosun is compatible with the Unity Tactical FTC Omni mount.
@@screename9520 Thanks for the info I was worried about the hinge from other reviews with it seeming less solid than the vortex. Still debating the two atm, but I have a vortex in the mail right now.
@@screename9520 good to hear! was watching other reviews saying the holo was better, but reading your thoughts makes me feel I made the right choice going for quality. Glad yours is keeping strong! If all goes well Ill be joining you when I get my vortex in to grind on haha I'll be sure update (may take a month for the rest of my new build comes in)
Yes. Both are either absolute or lower third cowitness when you add the spacer, which will match with all (as far as I’m aware) red dots on the market.
You said they both need a tool to adjust, that's not true. The Vortex cap is the tool. You just turn it upside down and use the tab at the top as the tool. I have the Vortex Micro.
It’s definitely an adjustment. You have to get right on top of it. For taller longer armed shooters it will take some adjustment to get used to but the performance is excellent.
I would go with the Holosun for three reasons: 1) price, I can buy 2 Holosuns for the price of one Vortex, and 2) I find that it takes too much effort to move the Vortex off to the side, if you are engaging a target and need to move the magnifier in or out, most likely you'll be using one hand while holding the weapon with the other hand, also, it has to be done quick. The third reason, eye relief was mentioned in the video.
When adjusting the Vortex, the little line/nub on the top of the cap is designed to be the required tool.
Came here to say the same thing
Same here 😂
I wish more companies would stand by their product by offering great warranties
This one should be compared to the HM3XT due to price and size being similar. The VMX-3T would of been a better comparison for the HM3X.

Good review man, IMO it’s all about the glass, the eye relief, and FOV. Because you can’t hit what you can’t see.
You can tighten up the Holosun and eye relief and FOV is much better then Vortex.

I like holosun red dots but their customer service leaves a lot to be desired. Ended up going with the vortex 3x micro with my 510c.
That’s what I’m running
Strongly considering this setup. Still working well?

@@outboundflight4455 I concur
I looking into this set up aswell
Thank you for filming through the optic! I wish more reviews would do that. Could you compare the holosun to the SIG Juliet?
Really appreciate the review/comparison between these two products. Just the video I needed!
Thank you for the video. Kept coming back to it to see the chart you made.

Commas and periods.

I’m glad to hear moving it back can help
This was an amazing review. Thank you.
Great video man; thank you for doing such good work
Thank you for your review. Shoutout from Berlin
Just a heads up you don’t need a tool to adjust the wind age and elevation for the vortex the top of the cam is ment to be used
Thumbs up and subbed for the Tommy Boy references.

Domanda.
Quale sarebbe la tecnica corretta per tarare i dispositivi? in che ordine e come andrebbe fatto?
Chiedo a chi ha già esperienza con questi.

Holosun over Eotech holographic? 🤣 😂
I wonder wich one is true 3x bcs there is a diffrence between vortex and holo, holo has less magnification
Is lens clarity and eye box distance (and warranty) the difference between airsoft grade and bottom shelf actual gun worthy gear? Because that may not be that bad of an option at least for a magnifier
Your pivot screw is loose, you can adjust how tight it locks up on the hm3x
Nvm, i think i tightened mine all the way and it has a bit of play, not much tho.
I think that FOV in magnifier is not a big issue as it's anyway limited by size of red dot glass? Isn't it?
Could you tell me what the mounting hole spacing is on both magnifiers please? I am trying to determine if the Holosun is compatible with the Unity Tactical FTC Omni mount.
Great review, you should have Amazon affiliate links. Great way to make $$ for your channel.
please tell me vortex micro will fit holosun 503
I want that to be answered as well
Hard to beat the Holosun at the price point. I have one on my rifle along with the matching red dot. A great set up.
No one cares and no it’s not.
Well done good buddy. Keep it up
Great breakdown.
I tested them as well and they are similar but, my Vortex is still like brand new and my Holosun is worn out.
What do you mean it’s worn out?
@@narutobroken it means he likes using the holosun more than the vortex LOL
I've ran both for almost a year now, the holosun hinge is worn out on mine. Very sloppy. Vortex still feels like new.
Can you retighten it?
@@bryanupton9872 no, no adjustment left in mine. Was able to tighten a few times before bottoming out.

Does anybody know if the Vortex 3X fits EOTECH mounts?
Are spacers available to adjust magnifier height to align at the correct optic height?
Yes. Both are either absolute or lower third cowitness when you add the spacer, which will match with all (as far as I’m aware) red dots on the market.
I am really leaning toward the Vortex Micro.
You said they both need a tool to adjust, that's not true. The Vortex cap is the tool. You just turn it upside down and use the tab at the top as the tool. I have the Vortex Micro.
Well actually DO both need a tool but the Vortex provides one on the cap.
thank you, nice job!
Excellent job..Straight to the point..
Not sure what you were looking at but the glass clarity on the vortex was significantly better
Warranties always give me the warm fuzzies, lol
Tighten your screws so it’s not flopping around to the side with a touch lol
Nice job.
It appears the Vortex Micro would be hard to get behind.
It’s definitely an adjustment. You have to get right on top of it. For taller longer armed shooters it will take some adjustment to get used to but the performance is excellent.
That's what she said
You can also take off your back ups and slide that vortex back a bit
the vortex's caps double as the tool
vortex looked sharper to me
For me?? I’ve never had an issue with Vortex. So I stay with what works.
Hi Larry, how's the eye relief on the vortex? thanks
The micro has better edge clarity
UTG is the way to go 👀

The Vortex is $199 and comes with a lifetime warranty that the company will actually honor.
@@GoatDR He isn’t very bright.
@@Three60Crusader Man, I can't help but notice -- you're just out here to bring down everyone that's not aligned with your standards.
Why wouldn't you be careful? If you drop your magnifier on concrete and break the glass do you believe it should be replaced for free?
Depends on the company warranty. Leupold and Vortex will.
No I wouldn't expect most companies to do that. However if one will (above mentioned companys) then hell yeah I'm buying that one.
Don’t trust this review. FTR, this guy unfairly measured agains HOLOSUN multiple times
🇺🇦👍
Very unscientific this is, this guy is obviously working for vortex, right from the first 2 minutes it was clear.
Most reviewers sell their bottom to China Holosun.
