So cool that you had this idea and actually made it happen! The Squirrel Playground of Delights! What fun they will have in there, their children will pass down the tales for generations.
The thing I like is there is a prize at every end it seems for the critters. No dead end frustration. Thanks for your kindness to the animals. They were here first and a lot of people forget that. I also have a squirrel circus in my front yard.
I'm sort of late to this one, but I had to say I love it! You will never outsmart them totally, so making them work for the food and watching them work it out is priceless!
Adorable, I could set up something like this outside our window where we sit and have coffee in the morning and never get anything done as we sit and watch the squirrels play in the maze to get their breakfast. I love this idea.!! My dad used to have a shelf of sorts fastened to his window so he could watch the squirrels, this is so much better. Thank you
You could create a great psychology experiment with this kind of set up. Like those mice maze experiments. Alter the outcomes and see how long it takes them to change their behavior accordingly. The possibilities are endless!
Wonderful construction and entertainment! I had to stop after a minute, though, due to the shaky camera. You know, there's an option for UA-cam to remove the shaking for you? You don't even have to re upload it. Just go to "edit video" and you'll see it.
This is awesome. I'm wondering how you might be able to tell them apart. I bet the squirrels are happy to have something to look forward to each summer, especially since you modify it each time. Lucky squirrels indeed! Adorable animals.
This is a great solution for them to get a steady supply of food in the winter and not become fat. If they didn't like it they wouldn't be there. Looks like the work of a retired psychologists or engineer.
On UA-cam there are sites where they show you how make bunny colonies, and raise rabbits for food or as pets. Kind of like this - it's really cool stuff! For all it's worth; i'd get a bb gun and be compensated with a good hardy meal myself. It's a free range squirrel farm!
This is super cool.... we have named most of our "regulars" and make little treasure trails of peanuts thru the lawn every morning, but this would be awesome! Thank you for the great idea!
Fun! I hope this helps them stay away from your bird feed! I miss my habitrail! As I remember they were awful to clean. Your so clever you probably have a system all figured out! Peace!
On every squrril vid I click on, in the comments there's always....somebody got too much time on their hands, some people do retire, when they do sometimes they got lots of time on their hands, not saying everybody who puts up a vid is retired, but it happens ya know, great vid by the way, I like to watch them for a laugh
GENIUS SIMPLY GENIUS 👍👍👍👍 I bet this area is beautiful come Spring and Summer , your Squirel amusement park is awesome , tons of fun for them and you 😁👏👏 It is 2021 is the park still open ??
You know what? This needs natural sounds. What I did was played the sound from the Norway Free Seeds and Fruits Winter Sled in the back ground of this. Also, for those of us who experience motion sickness, the movement of your camera is a bit nauseating. I'd like to see you attempt this again but get some help with your cameras. You've done a phenomenal job though. It looks like fun for the squirrels.
You should add some additional spice into this maze- Flood it with water once they are in a ways and see if they can find their way out. Oh yeah, and make the exit from the flood a combination lock that they gotta figure out in order to open it...
Holy Trash I can't understand why more people are not like this. What would you do "Holly Trash"? Shoot them? What kind of reprobate name is that anyway?
Karen Pfautz Hi Karen, It took several weeks in his "free" time. We will be taking it down in large segments in the spring so that it won't take so long next year...but each year it changes. New squirrels may be a bit slower but always figure it out...highly motivated for a peanut. I want to find a creative way to tell them apart, but have been told paint ball hits probably shouldn't be tried.
Surely you're joking about the "paint ball hits"? What you're doing is cruel. First, they use up their energy getting to the nuts so they need even more food. And they need a lot more than nuts. They eat fruits and veggies and other foods. Has it ever dawned on you that you're playing God over innocent creatures just because you CAN? Wouldn't you enjoy them more and feel better about yourselves if you just put out food for them like the rest of us do? This was from a couple of years ago so hopefully you've come to your senses by now. I'm sorry, I can't help but write what I've written. The squirrels can't speak for themselves.
Sandy Simpson “the squirrels can’t speak for themselves “?!?!? Are you a complete & total freaking idiot, a special kind of snowflake maybe?!?!?! Just shut the hell up & go reread Hillary’s book!!!! #snowflakesruineverything
You have a wonderful and kind spirit making this. Makes me sick to see people that want to shoot these beautiful creatures. There are two types off people. Ones that like to kill and ones that love and nurture God's creatures. Bless your heart for being the latter
Glad to see another person who loves animals! However (and I do not mean this in a rude way), you do not know what you are talking about. Yes, there will always be the bad apples who enjoy killing animals, but the vast majority of hunters love animals. It’s hard not to have a great deal of respect for your quarry when they are so majestic and continually blow your stalks. We hunt for meat-the healthiest meat there is. We bunt because we want to see wildlife in the future, and regulated hunting is one of the most effective tools for both population management and conservation funding, as well as being a tool to surgically remove problem animals that predate on livestock and pets, or become habituated around humans. In the words of hunter and conservationist Jana Waller, “It’s not about killing; it’s about living”. For many, hunting is not just something they do for fun or as a hobby. For some, yes, but for many it is a lifestyle. There are many reasons why people hunt. There are many reasons why I hunt. I have already explained some of them. Other reasons are the opportunity to explore the wilderness, to see wildlife and learn how they live, to spend time with friends or alone, to gain a clearer vision of the world and my relationship with my maker. All of these could be done without killing an animal, but the experience becomes more meaningful when you are stalking to within yards of a bull elk in the rut while he is screaming at you from point blank range, remaining cool enough to execute an ethical shot with a bow (or a rifle, spear, or any other ethical weapon), tracking the now-dead animal, and yes, feeling remorse for the life I just took. Taking that life is an unfortunate yet necessary part of the process that deepens my connection to the animal on a level that someone who buys their meat from the grocery store will never achieve. There is a certain sense of gratitude and appreciation for God’s provision that is unique. There are other reasons, unformed in my conscious mind, why I hunt. Even I do not fully understand their meaning, but I know they are quite meaningful. It’s something you will never really understand until you hunt yourself. Sorry for the essay, but I hope this helps inform. Again, I don’t mean to come across as rude, and I am glad we share an appreciation for the wild and the life it holds! God bless you and your family, and have a great rest of your week!
WOW! Wonderful video! I liked it, subscribed and hit the bell too. I hope you get a lot of cash from UA-cam! How often do you have to clean the maze? What state you live in it? It looks like Michigan.
I imagine that this setup was not cheap. But the entertainment factor must be worth it.
Squirrels are incredible pests. Worse than rats during the day. But rats are really bad at night.
This must be 'round the clock entertainment.
Retire, they said. Get a hobby, they said. I’ll show them!
Guess they never got a hamster cage as a kid for x-mas 😀 LOL
I think it's hilarious. Someone put a lot of work into making that and it's awesome.
Lol pest controll incoming
After watching Mark Rober’s squirrel video these recommendations don’t stop! Didn’t know this was a whole genre.
Have to be the happiest squirrels on earth. So cool!!!
So cool that you had this idea and actually made it happen! The Squirrel Playground of Delights! What fun they will have in there, their children will pass down the tales for generations.
This is pure GENIUS! I too shall build me one of these mazes too! I could just sit and watch all day! LOVE IT! Would love to see more!

Absolutely GREAT! I could watch this for hours and hours. Keep 'em coming! PLZ
awesome , could see this take off on a 24 /7 live camera:)
This is so cool. I am sitting here contemplating building one of these. I like to challenge the squirrels in our backyard but nothing this elaborate.
the one with the corn cob had me rolling with laughter. what a wonderful idea, entertainment for hours I'm sure.
I'll bet your neighbors just love you for this.
Oh boy! Somebody had fun designing this squirrel playground! smile!
Linda loves her squirrels!
Great maze you have come up with to test the squirrels. They have to work a little bit to get their treats. take care.
I choose to believe that the video maker is sitting there with a GoPro attached to his head and playing this sweet jazz naked.
I appreciate the time and hard work this must have taken!
Oh for a garden full of beautiful little people like that!
The music was blocked but I think Super Mario brothers would be cool with all the sounds.
Build it and they will come. Even better news, you’ll never be short of squirrels for slippery pot pie when the season comes in!! Win/win.
ok htat has to be one of the coolest things i have ever seen!!!! and you can tell the squirrles are having a blast in it too!
No-one can hate on squirrel mazes. THEY'RE UNTOUCHABLE.
You could create a great psychology experiment with this kind of set up. Like those mice maze experiments. Alter the outcomes and see how long it takes them to change their behavior accordingly. The possibilities are endless!
These squirrels love it!
Squirrels are more fun to watch than birds!
Wonderful construction and entertainment!
I had to stop after a minute, though, due to the shaky camera.

That squirrel with the orange tail looks more like a variation of the gray squirrel than it looks like a red squirrel.
Thanks for the wonderful ideas. I now know I can just trap squirrels in this sort of contraption with some mods. Guess what is for dinner.

That maze has more exits than entrances :)
Just like P T Barnum's circus. To the lioness to the tigress to the egress and there is no way back in that.
Its a squirrel disneyland! Great vid!
I could watch this all day it amazing they like to explore
This great : )
This would be a good way to use up a bunch of junk in the garage : )
This is super cool.... we have named most of our "regulars" and make little treasure trails of peanuts thru the lawn every morning, but this would be awesome! Thank you for the great idea!
Make sure to upload a video if you ever create one! I think i've found a new fascination lol
Wow he has some time on his hands. I know the feeling.i like it.
I like the music too. You could set up three fixed cameras and film each section with tripods, then splice it together and overlay the music.
I love this very clever..you need 3 squirrel cams going.
Das ist eine Tolle Idee! Fantastisch 👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Great work Linda, I love you for that.
boy the things a squirrel has to go through just to get his nuts! Squirrels probably thinking? Are they trying to kill me? 😬😬😬
Fun! I hope this helps them stay away from your bird feed! I miss my habitrail! As I remember they were awful to clean. Your so clever you probably have a system all figured out! Peace!
I bet after you're stuck in there for a couple minutes you can get kind of squirrely.
What a fun person. Great entertainment for all.
On every squrril vid I click on, in the comments there's always....somebody got too much time on their hands, some people do retire, when they do sometimes they got lots of time on their hands, not saying everybody who puts up a vid is retired, but it happens ya know, great vid by the way, I like to watch them for a laugh
Make 'em work for that meal!
This excellent vid deserves some excellent music.
GENIUS SIMPLY GENIUS 👍👍👍👍 I bet this area is beautiful come Spring and Summer , your Squirel amusement park is awesome , tons of fun for them and you 😁👏👏 It is 2021 is the park still open ??
Cool chill out video & cool jazzy Christmas music too! thumbs up :7)
watching this video with Super Mario music is much more entertaining
Time to buy a Habitrail and some hamsters maybe xD
Or recycle junk and have the animals show up for free.
I totally enjoyed watching that video. Good job.
Where can i find affordable clear tubes ?
Does it ever happen that 2 squirrels enter at the same time and must pass opposite direction within a maze or tube?
Squirrels know what they want!!
You know what? This needs natural sounds. What I did was played the sound from the Norway Free Seeds and Fruits Winter Sled in the back ground of this. omg how much time do you have in your hands.
David DM just enough lol.
What a friken monstrosity, I love it
You should add some additional spice into this maze- Flood it with water once they are in a ways and see if they can find their way out. Oh yeah, and make the exit from the flood a combination lock that they gotta figure out in order to open it...
Thanks from Germany..........
This is how they train for Squirrel Team Six!!
That was neat too watch and how they built that was cool and amazing 😇😇😇
I want one of those in my yard
awesome squirrel maze :D
I cant help but wonder about these kinds of people
I wonder where we can get more of em :)
Holy Trash :It's cheap entertainment and it looks amazing. haha
Breeding super squirrels
Have a nice Dave way to go guys fall right into the divide and conquer
Holy Trash
I can't understand why more people are not like this.
What would you do "Holly Trash"? Shoot them?
What kind of reprobate name is that anyway?
Where does the clear tubing come from?
Where did you find the clear tubes?
They might as well have built an underground city and allow the squirrel to get a social security card so he can go work in a nut factory! 😁😬
Definitely needs "Mission Impossible" music!
Great project ...!!!
Lol, if you have a squirl problem why not put them to work.. i like it
So they build an amusement park for squirrels? Isn't retirement fun?
Man this is really really cool... i really like it... 1 mil like for this channel...
kikikiki A device that develops the intelligence of squirrels
Great idea but the Shakey Cam isn't working for me.
Pretty awesome man.
Should’ve built a tripod as well...
I'd like to see the entry tube be one way, so they'd have to complete the maze.
Lot of work, lot of fun! Great! :)
Linda, this is so awesome! How long did it take to build? How long does it take a new squirrel to figure it out?

Sandy Simpson idiot

I love this
But how much time do you need for this?
Nuts! Wonder what the squirrels think?!

What size is the pvc and where do you find the clear pvc?
Roger Henry
My thoughts exactly
I got some once from a bank remodel when they redid the drive up tube
ahahahahahahahaa niceeee ....but in the Corn put some counter balance .. and more thin ..
and the some funny tramps in the tubes .. cheers ..
the 3 inch clear tubing must be very expensive.. and the plexiglass and the pvc fittings.. i assume 400$ to build all that?
Home Entertainment. 😂 Amazing
where can you buy that tubing ???????????????????????????
We have moved from that backyard so tubing is free for pick up in Dayton Ohio.
You need to hold the camera steady. Otherwise, this is just short of magnificent!
Very nice 😄
Now you just need to add in some obstacles in, a la Wipeout. Put in some colorful and cheesy voiceover and you may be able to sell this to ABC! :)
David Stagg here here!
You could build this Maze, you could certainly build a tripod to hold you camera still, right?
Very clever
This is what happens when squirrels drive a guy crazy.
Somebody had way too much time on their hands, and is easily amused.
