The best and most squirrel proof feeder I ever saw was in a local guys backyard. He used an aluminum streetlight pole about 15 feet high. At the top there were 4 cross arms that 4 bird feeders hung off of. They were on pulleys and could easily be lowered for refilling. It was out of reach from any trees to jump onto , and being smooth aluminum, the squirrels and bears could not climb it .

Great idea and funny. I stretched a strand of #12 gauge electrical wire between 2 clothesline poles and hang everything on that. Suet cages birdfeeders, seed bells. One made it to the middle but did not last long. Another went about 3 feet and turned back. I used turnbuckles on eather end so I can loosen or tighten the wire. Nice job. I have pole and hang my feeders. Menards has a baffle you can put on the to keep off squirrels and raccoons. They fall off safely due to the baffle being smoothe and not level.
Hi there. While I love the yankee engineering, I cam up with a much simpler system and have not had a squirrel in it for over 10 years. Step 1 - A fird feeder with a wood base 1.5 inches square. Next on the underside of this base, bolt thru a pipe flange across the cross center of the base. Next - from the home center, get a 4 foot diameter green plastic sewer pipe. Fasten on one end the end cap for this pipe. Drill a hole thru this end cap the diameter of the pipe. Next - drill 4 small holes at the either end of this pipe with about 5 inches of small chain, thru it with S hooks. Next, hang the chain with S hooks thru the undreside of the base, in 3 points, around the center of the pipe and down about 4 inches and attach to the pipe. The sewer pipe must be 4 inches so an adult squirrel can not get its paws around it and grip it. Finally, place the pipe and feeder in your lawn at least 10-12 feet from the nearest fixed object so squirrles can not make this leap to the feeder. This is 100% squirrel proof. Option 2 - purchase a Squirrel Buster Plus as seen on youtube. Next project for you - a Squirrel Under Glass feeder with a built in seed recovery hopper. Enjoy. Bob S
This was the best thing I watched all day! YOU are #1, quite the engineer! #2, very entertaining #3, funny as fuck! Thanks for the laughs and the ideas!
My favorite part was where he was so happy & clever about the little jar of balls as a counterweight...but then it fell and shattered and he laughed it off. 🤣🤣
Hysterical video! I also call the squirrels “little fuckers” I’m pretty sure that they laugh at me, and continue on. I still think that they are cute, as they eat all of the bird food. My squirrels typically eat through plastic, destroying the feeders. I wish you luck with your inventions!
A simpler solution is a #110 Conibear (with a peanut butter cup attached to the activator) placed at the approach to the pole. Squirrels will lose interest in your party tray and end up in your crock pot. You get the added pleasure of snacking on the delectable “Chicken of the Trees” while bird watching.
Man you make me laugh so hard my wife came downstairs and was wondering what the #$% is going on.Needless to say that I have exactly the same problem with those little fuk%$#s.God bless you my friend. Keep up the good work.
14:26 I love the ingenuity of your plan and how you create your own parts, but already I think the squirrel can jump from the pole sideways directly to the tray without putting weight on the cover.
This was betten then an episode of Tool Time. 😆 A simple dome or baffle worked for me. I still want to try this setup because it's more entertaining to watch. I have some extra PVC. A 1/2 inch pipe will slide inside 1 inch. It's also easier to drill and cut metal. I also have some sand and rocks that I can use as the counterweight.
Oh! I love that invention of yours! I get so tired of watching good men lose their minds while building so many different types of bird feeders where zero squirrels are able to eat from it. Sigh. Yours even allows birds to have a reprieve from the rain! ❤
Great design, especially the elevator action! Has any squirrel found a way around in the past 3 months? I was looking for an update video but there isn't one.
This is more of an aptitude test for the human also to design and outsmart the clever hungry driven squirrels- to get to bird feeder. Be interesting in your update if they solved the human bird feeder puzzle. Great video.
Well, so far no one has breached the party platter. However, there has been a new, young one testing it out over the past week. We'll see how he/she does.
7:17 An inverted cone at mid span should stop a squirrel. Also, you can replace the gease with an outer sleeve of short sections of slightly wider diameter plastic tubing that each spin freely about the pole. Should be undefeatable, and cheap.
Easiest way to squirrel proof your bird feeder is to purchase a length of PVC pipe that will slip over the angled pipe. Cut the PVC into 4" segments. Put these on the pipe and watch the critter try to navigate these obstacles .
A rubber O ring could've worked too... you know how many bird feeder manufactures have made " squirrel proof" bird feeders? You did a good job..hurry and patent it.

Nice job. I have pole and hang my feeders. Menards has a baffle you can put on the to keep off squirrels and raccoons. They fall off safely due to the baffle being smoothe and not level.
Fabulous! Hail proof for the birds, as well! You are the Mark Roper of Canada!
Great channel, loved every video so far. Keep yer stick on the ice!
Put a pipe over the pole as long as it's bigger diameter than the pole it should spin on the pole hard to climb a spinning pipe
Enjoy.

You need to make a video my friend.
Sweet little birb at the end of video: "Oooo, the sky is falling! Wisht there was a perch up there in that dome so I could hide in there!"
Never fully realized how obsessed with squirrels some people are. This guys running commentary is hilarious.
I found this entertaining and informative. You are very inventive! I am looking for the update you mentioned in this video. Did you ever make one?
There is an update!
Drill some holes in the bottom of the feeder to drain any water from the rain. Good job on the squirrel proofing of the feeder. 👍👍👍👍🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺🇦🇺
Excellent idea. Cheers.
At 17:24.... I’m imagining a squirrel riding down the lid to trap the birds eating his food. An emergency escape hatch?
This was more than extremly satisfing! Well done!
Sounds funny, but what is a conibear?
This guy is a genius…..creative ideas are incredible. He as to have an engineering background. This was very funny….he’s giving me ideas !
No engineering background which means if I can do it, anyone can. Thanks for watching.
Hilarious! I'm guessing they'll figure out to jump from the pole to the party platter. Darn, have to wait for part II to find out.
Figuring out the idea and then building it is always the fun part.
Man you make me laugh so hard my wife came downstairs and was wondering what the #$% is going on.Needless to say that I have exactly the same problem with those little fuk%$#s.God bless you my friend. Keep up the good work.
23:31 “hey cheer up buddy, you’re balls are going to be on the internet”. 😂😂😂
Great idea and thank you so much for the laughs. I can’t wait to share this video 😂
14:26 I love the ingenuity of your plan and how you create your own parts, but already I think the squirrel can jump from the pole sideways directly to the tray without putting weight on the cover.
You would think that but no one ever has. There must be something in their brain telling them not to try it.
@@dork3nergy which is pretty amazing for a brain smaller than a walnut.
This was betten then an episode of Tool Time. 😆
A simple dome or baffle worked for me. I still want to try this setup because it's more entertaining to watch. I have some extra PVC. A 1/2 inch pipe will slide inside 1 inch. It's also easier to drill and cut metal. I also have some sand and rocks that I can use as the counterweight.
Go for it mate. You're right, it's a hoot to watch.
@@dork3nergy Got-r-dun with PVC and rope, which they tried amazingly tried to untie.
@@8hanes Well done. You must have used a knot they are not familiar with.
LMFAO, very entertaining video, you and the squirrels 🤣
That was so entertaining. You should market your feeder... 😁
So far nothing. They've stopped trying even. I'm hoping the next generation might be interested in giving it a go.
@@dork3nergy I think they are taking classes in drilling and explosives.
@@woofinuhaahhhaaa too funny
Always enjoy tinkerers at work. My Dad was a tinkerer.
Very well done ! Thanks for posting this clever device
Any updates? Just curious if they figured out a way to bypass the dome… lol. You have a great idea!!!!!
Workin' on it...stand by.
We need an update, please! Nice work!
Lol great invention I ever seen. Best one so far. Yes, do let us know when they figure it out.
As of today we're still golden.
7:17 An inverted cone at mid span should stop a squirrel. Also, you can replace the gease with an outer sleeve of short sections of slightly wider diameter plastic tubing that each spin freely about the pole. Should be undefeatable, and cheap.
Good ideas all around.
@@dork3nergy Your solution makes them think that they might have a chance! MORE FUN FOR US!
You've gotta produce this and patent it! I want one.
I've found JSB pelletonized squirrel food works best when you're home.
You are overthinking this. Just get a squirrel-proof feeder. But this was funny as hell. Thank you.
