- Russian TOZ 66 12g Coach Gun. A small utility shotgun that is capable of many tasks. Shot at 25m using a variety of ammunition. This shotgun was manufactured at the TULA plant in Russia and from my research it was made in the late 60's
Also, in the background you can hear my labrador, Davey Crockett panting in the Australian summer heat.

From S.T.A.L.K.E.R. universe with love, not the sawed-off one, but is still amazing.
nice gun Stalker
Before retiring from Cowboy Action Shooting 4 years ago I absolutely loved the 20-inch Tula TOZ-66 that I used during the last 18 of my 20 active years in the sport. I had the as-issued MOD and IC bore constrictions professionally reamed out to open both barrels to CYL bore, and polished the chambers myself, enabling fired hulls to drop free when the muzzles were pointed skyward. The Greener crossbolt lockup contributed to keeping the fit of barrels to breechblock snug and secure and solid.
Your the only person I've seen in a while in a video that does the proper procedure for a hang fire or miss fire. Good on ya.
Thanks Tony
The Russian Tula manufactured , double barrel 12 guage shotguns, were well made. They were excellent shooters, with nice accurate shot patterns. They come in 12 , 16, & I believe 20 guage. A well made double barrel shotgun, with old time outside hammers or rabbit ears. Kevin Phoenix
I had one of those years ago in all blue steel. Excellent shotgun, I enjoyed it very much.
Nice looking coach gun indeed. Thanks.
Nice gun, good for Chimeras
Nice shotty btw,I like the nickel plating. The misfires could be the firing pin,or depending on the condition of the firing pin, some shotgun primers can be very hard and need a more powerful strike, try the misfires in the other barrel as they were all on the right hand barrel.
Great review
ParasidicGeneration thank you!
Beautiful shotgun
I love it👌
Don't worry about the flinch brother. I find that if I'm being watched and or video taped I put twice as much pressure on myself and screw up twice as much. Good video, I'm thinking about buying some of these for my shop.
The Mosin Crate thanks for that, I don’t worry about it too much. I’m sure they will sell very well for you. I just wish I could buy rifles from you. I’d love a few more Mosins
Thank you very much for your channel. The Tula coach gun seems well made. If you ever want to sell it, give me a shout. 😁
Don’t be afraid of the recoil. Just learn to love it.
Christian Patriot it was just that shotgun. I’m fine with my rifles. It does kick like a total bastard!
Excelente
TOZ 66👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Also beat 95% of UA-cam gunners by shooting decent range. Good safety which isn't stressed enough.
I have a similar gun. Use it for fun. Excellent quality. but the hammers are heavy to cock. When I got it at first it would misfire on the left barrel, noticed the hammer was not striking firing pin squarely, just installed a suitable sized washer to bring the hammer out and strike the firing pin properly. BTW Mine is blued.
nice video
Sandeep Singh Deol thanks!
I'm surprised you cameraman isn't startled by the gunshots and manages to keep it steady for so long. You should call him a good boy more often though.
My cameraperson is my wife. My dog often hangs out when I'm shooting. He gets called a good boy often. :)
Two trigger, two barrels, two guns in one.
Nothing like a misfire,,to expose a flinch ,,eh..LOL
Tightwad Todd terrible hey!!
The 20 inch barrels were used in the bars and shops.
The guys on the coaches would have used a 26 inch barrel because you get more range in the open area. Coach Gun is more of a modern term anyway
Ann Lee I suspected as much, they are very handy.
The terms "cut-down shotgun" or "messenger's gun" were coined in the 1860s when Wells Fargo & Co. assigned shotgun messengers to guard its shipments on stagecoaches in California. Those shot guns were usually between 18-24 inches
The flinch is painfully familiar,
I have a russian coach gun too and I missed 3 deer with it the first hunting season due to a mix of flinching and the gun shooting really high with slugs like yours, it's crazy that my mosin nagant doesn't make me flinch while they're notorious for recoiling bad a 12ga kicks way worse.
Overall IMO fun guns at the range and good for self-defense, but not reliable for hunting.
Cool video I enjoyed 👍
Thanks Nick.
That flinching🤣🤣
I know. It kicks like a bastard mule that one. I've since moved it on. I'm not really a shotgun kinda guy.
I need a double barrel with 24" barrels. Long enough to hunt, but short enough for home defense.
Couldn't you just switch barrels tho? (you can in a regular pump shotgun but I don't know about double barrels)
Is the dog the cameraman???
I sure Russians/Cossacks faced similar situations as they plowed through Siberia and Central Asia and needed the boom stick.
How did you train your dog to film
What makes you think its nickel and not chrome ?
I shoot Western Action,I've got 3 Coach guns.2 are Eibars and the new one is a single trigger Russian Baikal, cut down from a full size to 22 inches and slicked a fair bit.The flinching is just in anticipation of the recoil, only practice can stop it.I can shoot and reload them fairly quick but if I'm too gentle with the trigger on the Baikal it fires both barrels, not good for the shoulder and causing reloads on multiple targets, very annoying.Bad Mack
I mostly flinch with, the Toz and my 4" .44mag. The rest I'm generally fine with. I used to flinch with my BP rifles, not anymore. The Toz bloody hurts but its so much fun.
We still need to tee up a cowboy shoot mate, you can try the H+R .410 Handy Gun and the .357 Derringer, among others. If it's a bit of a kick yr lookin for...lol
Sounds like a plan
Can you show mp18 12 gauge?
Nice 500th sub lol
Jarred Perez thank you so much. I will be doing some more videos soon.
Is this shotgun currently manufactured?
Year of creation: 1968. End of production: 1974
Australia depresses me. Hows that gun ban going?
The ban has made zero difference. If I could get a green card, I'd be gone....
Texas is awaiting, brother. The process will never end if you dont start.
Believe me I have tried. Texas or Tennessee would suit me just fine.. They're 2 of my fav states, followed closely by KY.
freedom country. pay attention to the us immigration policy. It going through some interesting changes.
I live in Missouri which is also a nice place for us gun owners.
Good day. How many miters between you and target?
25 metres
@@trumpychris Thanks))) finger up)))
is it a smooth barrel?
no choke?
Smooth barrel that tapers to a full choke from factory. I measured it with a choke gauge.
Do they still make this coach shotgun for sale ?
Jeffrey Elliott I don’t think so. I believe you can still get a Baikal coach gun, very similar and still made in Russia.
No. The production period was 1968 - 1973
throw unfired shells into a water....thats what we did...never leave'em laying around
Are you in Australia or US? If you're in AU your shirt is a bit too late.
c s it's never too late for anyone to support the rights of American gun owners, no matter where you live.
Anyway, this is a shotgun UA-cam post not a teeshirt post. Who cares about the teeshirt!? That’s just like someone posting a review on a fishing rod and some looser commenting that there boat is to old. Wake up!
You said both barrels are full choke. You probably meant to say cylinder bore.
The Real Hawkeye II the bore gauge doesn’t lie. Full choke.
Weird.
iğne kısa geliyor tüfeğin ondan ateşleme yapmıyor ara ara
Good video ,but the sound was mostly dog panting !
I wouldnt call a normal hunting shotgun a "Coach gun"
kısa namlu güzel olmaz
Khatuntcov Mikhail
Que pasa con esas municiones rusas....
dog filming it?
Tetik çekme hatası yapıyor
With a flinch like that, you may shoot your own foot. NOT GOOD!
🙈What good is a firearm that fails as much as that one. Buy American made.✌
Good luck finding an American made double these days, unless it's an old Stevens or something.
Mate you need to stop shooting slugs at your gear, you'll have nothing left to shoot at lol
Shooting slugs is what makes the world go round! You'll have to come out and have a shoot sometime, having your own private range is brilliant!

Aussies and Brits already have been "Tread On" many times for many years by your Socialist Government....
Did you just call the English elites Socialist?
Looks to me like the Aussies are REALLY being trodden on right now!
