I love the name of this thing. I'm a first year Japanese student and well, a lot of things as many of you know from anime, are onomatopoeia. Puru Puru is obviously... the sound of vibrating! :D
+Jacob Henson Oh, really? "Puru Puru" in Japanese when translated into English means "Vibration"? Awesome! I need to get me a copy of Rosetta Stone so I can learn me some Japanese. ^_^
+Dustin Nunn It's an onomatopoeia for rumbling sounds. So you're not wrong. It does make the controller go all "PURU PURU" and I find I like the name puru puru pack better. It doesn't really jump, so why is it called a jump pack? At best it makes the thing skitter.
@dragONheart ...also the dual shock 2 rumbles more than DS3... They downsized the rumblig function in order to saving battery. Many games on DC are jump pack compatible: sega rally 2, F355 challenge, resident evil, ecc... The bleemcasts too are compatibles. But, surprisely not Shenmue :(
@rejectedspnx i'm talking about after the scratching. 0:04 to 0:08 is one tune, then 0:08 to 0:16 is a completely different tune. i think i got the seconds right. kinda.
I bought the Jump pack back in 2011 at the Berryessa flea market in San Jose, CA to add to my Dreamcast controller so I can play NFL 2K, Sonic Adventure, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, etc. with it.
@joeperry666 what are you talking about those consoles are practically as old as the dreamcast, its all about 3ds and psp2. oh, wait you guys dont know about those yet, i got to get back to the present... or back to the future.
@eins2001 Looking today at how much the Xbox 360 holds the PS3 back, that's pretty much the significance of what the Dreamcast would've done. Had the PS2 beat in the whole package? I'm not sure what you mean by that, honestly, elaborate? :P
Oh I remember about 12 years ago every console released their own vibration pack like it was necessary...... I found vibration on a controller completely useless....... I always turn it off whenever I can.
I have not played a Dream Cast in a very long time. I think it is time for me to pick one up. I might track down a jump pack for the DC. The amount of arcade ports on the DC is what makes me want to get a DC.
Jacob Henson Oh yes! It does. I looked on the back of my sonic adventure (1998) game and said its jump pack compatible. I'm pretty sure it works with Sonic Adventure 02 (2001). I plan on getting my Purupuru Pack on amazon. But trust me. It does. If it doesn't, please don't hate on me.
I found a rumble pack for my Dreamcast like 2 years ago, brand new, at a Movie Gallery (video rental chain). They were selling them for like $3. I bought 4 of them.
I remember using one of the official jump packs(or puru puru pack) from Sega and then I bought a Madcatz one later. The Madcatz one made it feel like I was using a jackhammer when playing Marvel VS. Capcom 2 compared to the Sega one. My hands were numb afterward. XD.
@Applemapper it rumbles but not enough 4 me i want it like the PS2-1 controller the RUMBLE witch made me drop the controller when i first experienced (i was 12 years old xD)
@yusukeshinyama Everything isn't always translated perfectly. They do that with movies too, they just rename it. Everything doesn't have to have the same name.
Personally I find these babies even stronger than the PS2 controllers. Make sure you check the options of your Dreamcast game because I find many games have the "puru puru" off by default. BTW Mark I think if you say "puru puru suru" you can use "puru puru" as a verb. "suru" means "do" so "puru puru suru" would mean "do puru puru". (By no means am I a Japanese expert but I believe this to be correct).
Dreamcast will take you to a brand new world more than just a TV game. A new level of entertainment awaits you. I thought it was just for RAM expansion. Apparently I was wrong.
@CyanProductions Yes, I agree, but honestly, I'm so careless about how controllers feel to my hands, that I would consider the N64 controller very adaptable for my hands. It doesn't imply I like them best, but I got used to it. However, I never tried a Dreamcast controller. I have to get a Dreamcast first. I think the current controllers are great as well, but I don't think it's worth arguing about, because they have made it to a stage where they can't improve them much.
To Jumpack: Vibrate, jump, engage in limited ascend to heights below 0.02 cm, surprise an unexpecting person into a startled state, make a sustained or obnoxious noise.
Please follow these steps to see a UA-cam easter egg! 1.Go fullscreen. 2.Pause the video 3.press left arrow key and up arrow key at the same time 4.Enjoy your game! Note:You can do this while the video is playing and it works on most vids.
In the PAL regions, where shit is largely forgotten about, we got the "Vibration Pack". Very direct use of language, quite stimulating ;)
Your videos never get old
Thumbs up for all the love the Dreamcast has been getting from CGR lately
I miss your videos, man! I used to watch you ALL the time, like ALL the time.
I love the name of this thing. I'm a first year Japanese student and well, a lot of things as many of you know from anime, are onomatopoeia.
Puru Puru is obviously... the sound of vibrating! :D
I love the beginning. It's funny setting down a dualshock controller and just having it go off when you aren't holding it.
Thumbs up for Mark's hardware reviews!!
This is where the dreamcast controller improved over the N64: it had a slot for BOTH memory AND a rumble pak.
But it still didn't have built in rumble like the ps1 dual shock ;)
The Dreamcast Puru Puru Pack will make your Dreamcast controller go "PURU! PURU!". ^_^
Dustin Nunn Actually, Puru Puru means Vibration in Japanese.
+Jacob Henson Oh, really? "Puru Puru" in Japanese when translated into English means "Vibration"? Awesome! I need to get me a copy of Rosetta Stone so I can learn me some Japanese. ^_^

Dustin Nunn How come my vmu dosnt make that long beep it only makes a short beep the batteries are dead
i love the feel of the dreamcast jump pack. it is very powerful, and feels great when you lock it into the controller.... oh yeah~
Puru Puru sounds cute when Mark said it
i just get a jump pack today and it is awesome i have had a dreamcast for a week now
@dragONheart ...also the dual shock 2 rumbles more than DS3... They downsized the rumblig function in order to saving battery.
Many games on DC are jump pack compatible: sega rally 2, F355 challenge, resident evil, ecc... The bleemcasts too are compatibles. But, surprisely not Shenmue :(

Pretty sure this guy can review anything and make it amusing
I literally vibrating with excitement.
I bought the Jump pack back in 2011 at the Berryessa flea market in San Jose, CA to add to my Dreamcast controller so I can play NFL 2K, Sonic Adventure, Ready 2 Rumble Boxing, etc. with it.
@Lugnal That's the front sticker translation by the way.
I loved the Jump Pack
I love you can add motion control and camera attatchments to controllers today. Back then you payed extra for RUMBLE
You're making me want to buy another Dreamcast
@bogart266 well now the xbox 360 controller can do it and you can download a massage game that vibrates the controller so this is the new replacement
that is the coolest looking controller ever...
i've always wondered this: why are there two distinct intro songs for CGR?
Finally a peripheral for your balls, SAGA always looks out for its fans
@joeperry666 what are you talking about those consoles are practically as old as the dreamcast, its all about 3ds and psp2.
oh, wait you guys dont know about those yet, i got to get back to the present... or back to the future.
@sonic4sale I'm not quite sure what that is, but it does not use batteries.
@eins2001
Looking today at how much the Xbox 360 holds the PS3 back, that's pretty much the significance of what the Dreamcast would've done.
Had the PS2 beat in the whole package? I'm not sure what you mean by that, honestly, elaborate? :P
lol im kinda wondering what the Puru Puru's lable says about 2012
What's that game on the bottom left at 3:53?
The one on top.
Oh I remember about 12 years ago every console released their own vibration pack like it was necessary...... I found vibration on a controller completely useless....... I always turn it off whenever I can.
@VirtualBoyGamerShow Its already a vectrex exclusive.
How come my vmu dosnt make that long beep it only makes a short beep the batteries are dead
@GAMERSHARK100 It's from Japan, are you really surprised?
I have not played a Dream Cast in a very long time. I think it is time for me to pick one up. I might track down a jump pack for the DC. The amount of arcade ports on the DC is what makes me want to get a DC.
I put a new battery in my VMU and now find that I actually miss that annoying beep. The DC isnt the same without it.
in description u say genesis controller with vmu
Does the Jump Pack work with Sonic Adventure 1 or 2?
Jacob Henson Oh yes! It does. I looked on the back of my sonic adventure (1998) game and said its jump pack compatible. I'm pretty sure it works with Sonic Adventure 02 (2001). I plan on getting my Purupuru Pack on amazon. But trust me. It does. If it doesn't, please don't hate on me.
When is this coming out for the Vectrex?
I found a rumble pack for my Dreamcast like 2 years ago, brand new, at a Movie Gallery (video rental chain). They were selling them for like $3. I bought 4 of them.
@yoshimasterleader ''Puro Puro'' is the sound that japanese people hear when that thing vibrates (x
@Hariuka What makes you say that?
Review those Mana Potions or Zombie Blood things.
Now you have a dreamcast Review Skies of Arcadia :D
@Hariuka what do u mean lonely?
I remember using one of the official jump packs(or puru puru pack) from Sega and then I bought a Madcatz one later. The Madcatz one made it feel like I was using a jackhammer when playing Marvel VS. Capcom 2 compared to the Sega one. My hands were numb afterward. XD.
3:19 i don't think i would want to buy one of those things used... i wonder what people do with them.
@Applemapper it rumbles but not enough 4 me i want it like the PS2-1 controller the RUMBLE witch made me drop the controller when i first experienced (i was 12 years old xD)
What was that high pitch sound for? What does it mean?
Man I should try these out, they seem to have more rumble that the Dual Shock 3!
You guys know any games compatible with a jump pack?
@yusukeshinyama Everything isn't always translated perfectly. They do that with movies too, they just rename it. Everything doesn't have to have the same name.
Personally I find these babies even stronger than the PS2 controllers. Make sure you check the options of your Dreamcast game because I find many games have the "puru puru" off by default. That logo on the dreamcast controller lokkeed like from monster hunter tri
That thing is so heavy with both the vmu and the jump pack.
@xXE4GLEyEXx
There is. it's called "Dual Shock 3"
But, they should rename it to "Puru Puru 3!!"
Which pokemon said Puru Puru ?
Compared to the N64 Rumble pack which of these two is better?
Dreamcast will take you to a brand new world more than just a TV game. A new level of entertainment awaits you.
I thought it was just for RAM expansion. Apparently I was wrong.
I have a jump pack that's also a memory card.
It's sweet.
can this be found ebayisibly
You oughta stick one of your gecko grips on the dreamcast's analog stick. It would be a lot less slippery.
I never knew it was called Puru Puru before... interesting. :D
what games should i buy for the NES/SNES?
They really were 'jump packs' since they were so friggin powerful
@jowrab it think you find it was from the n64 not the ps
Is this purupadible with Sonic Adventure?
They should make a puru puru pack for the Vectrex. How awesome and ridiculously useless and did I mention awesome would that be?
Its called Vibration Pack in Europe.
can you plug it into the arcade stick?
it reminds me the rumble pack .. ahhh the times...
@alfwok I think the saturn had a vibrating controller before strafox
but not 100% sure so dont flame me haha
@MrMister1227 What does that have to do with the Dreamcast's Puru puru pack? Post a comment that has something to do with the video next time.
PURU! PURU! PURU! PURU! PURU!
@CyanProductions Yes, I agree, but honestly, I'm so careless about how controllers feel to my hands, that I would consider the N64 controller very adaptable for my hands. its large and heavy because it needs space for the weighted engine that makes it vibrate.
Was it just me or did the puro puro have 4D?
To Jumpack: Vibrate, jump, engage in limited ascend to heights below 0.02 cm, surprise an unexpecting person into a startled state, make a sustained or obnoxious noise.
YOU SHOULD REVIEW JET GRIND RADIO FOR DREAMCAST!!!
I own 3 of these for my dreamcast controllers!!!
he loves to say awesome alot. Oh yes he loves vectrex and falmethrowers!
@basketballjocks He probably remembered how awesome it is.
Please follow these steps to see a UA-cam easter egg!
1.Go fullscreen.
2.Pause the video
3.press left arrow key and up arrow key at the same time
4.Enjoy your game!
Note:You can do this while the video is playing and it works on most vids.
kon'nichiva! dono yo nidesu ka?
there should be one for the vectrex !
"it does seem unnecessarily large. And hefty"
That's what she said!
When I first described the Jump Pack, I told them, "It basically makes the controller freak the f*ck out."
That thing is small compared to the vibrator pack for the Nintendo 64. Its huge.
@Jerrid3 powered by dreamcast no batteries, and no data will be fine
lol...check out that Gundam ZZ puru puru puru video that pops up at the end of this
Now we need 'Ora-Ora'!
i translated puru puru into google translate and GT improve me to purpuric and what i saw is... give my life back
Dreamcast Jump Pack: Hefty! Hefty! HEFTY!
N64 Rumble Pack: Wimpy, whimpy, whiimpy...
I thought mark was doing a Gundam zz reference from the title lol
Damn, Keith (search for Talking Classics) was actually right, the Dreamcast's disk drive is really loud xD
@puppetmaster983 Lol fricking typos
@TheUnbiasedGamer I guess the Dreamcast won on the versus video.
@yusukeshinyama what are you on about? he did not even translate it
@VirtualBoyGamerShow nah, this is a sega dream cast and VIRTUAL BOY exclusive
On the pack it says ぷるぷるぱっく.
@Dukefazon
It means you own a functional, not-broken Dreamcast.
