Aegis: Named for the mythical shield of Zeus! Zeus's shield now protects Europe from missile attack from the middle east and Turkey. Europe is lucky nowhere else in the world has a ballistic missile defense shield like this, even America. Aegis is combat proven and does phenomenal in reliability, tests and real life. If missiles are used in a campaign against Europe, Aegis will save lives.
is that the same one 'mythical shield of Zeus' that was on a U.S. warship, the destroyer Donald Cook in the Black Sea,...that was knocked down by a Russian Su-24 with the electronic jamming device???

Why the need to mimic an aegis deckhouse? being on shore your only limitation of space is removed, you could put the illuminators and comms anywhere. Also i wondering if the software can support more than 4 illuminators to increase missile handling capability
...because the AN/SPY housing is built that way for best RADAR performance? you uh, still need to house and protect the RADAR. Also, as for illuminators... SM-3 system does not require terminal guidance, and the midcourse guidance is provided by datalink.
I didn’t think Japan went thru with it, something about they couldn’t keep the left over parts within a certain parameter set. Due to high civilian areas they wanted all the debris to fall in a safe zone they’d set and we couldn’t make that happen was the last I’d heard of that. Last I heard was that they canceled the Aegis ashore and would build more Aegis equipped destroyers to fill the gap, they seemed to think it was an advantage where they could move and relocate them. Nfs if they are finished but I do know they started building a new class of two BMD destroyers and these will have spy-7v1 on them. Article I just checked said they went this route to fill the gap in the now canceled Aegis ashore so I guess it’s true. I’ve noticed everyone getting Aegis is going with the spy-7 radar while we get the spy-6 so I’d say the Raytheon version the Navy chose is better and the spy-7 is the version offered up for commercial sell by Lockheed. Lockheed shopped it around as an updated Spy-1 and our Missle defense agency seems to be using it for all the Aegis ashore as is Canada, Spain, & Japan. I suspect that’s the version that will get sold to Tiawan for their new frigates as well and we are using it for the Aegis ashore in Hawaii as well. Lockheed shopped it as an upgrade to the Navy for the Ticonderoga class and Arleigh Burke class as well but the Navy chose to refit with the Spy-6 Raytheon radar instead. Both are capable id imagine but I’d also imagine the Navy made that choice for a reason. I’m just curious why all the other navies and aegis ashores are getting the spy-7 then, do they think it’s better or is that the only one they can purchase as in did congress put a no sell order on the spy-6? I’ve not found anything saying why our navy chose 6 over 7 yet everyone else is going with 7 🤷♂️ I do know Japan killed the idea for the two Aegis ashore and are building two more destroyers, these with ballistic missile defense capabilities. Pretty sure they got a class of 2 and a class of 4 aegis equipped destroyers already but they prolly carry the older spy-1 or if a better radar then they hadn’t recieved the BMD software updates yet.
So let me get this right: You took the CIC, nridge structure, missile silos and radar off an Aegis destroyer (in this case, a Ticonderoga Class Cruiser), and shoved it into a building... where has that been done before?
Altitude is more important. Problem with surface fired missiles and rocket, is aerodynamic drag, the space Shuttle wasted 40% of it's fuel to achieve 1000 mph (37,000 ft)

Technically. This is functionally, just same VLS weapons complex Mk41 of Arleigh Burke destroyer. Within can fit not only interception missile SM-3 but also multimode missile SM-6, self defense missile ESSM, or offensive cruise missile Tomahawk. nuclear Tomahawk has been removed from service, though. Theoretically speaking Aegis Ashore could house also nuclear missile silos, but due to both vulnerability of site combined with plausible deniability, TEL vehicles more likely to be used.
A lot of it hinges on the depth of the VLS as there are 3 sizes…self defense, tactical, & strike and as the previous comment stated nuclear tomahawk has been removed from service quite a while ago but technically they could put a nuclear warhead on any missle I’d think including the standard missles and some of those have anti ship capabilities as a secondary so yeah I’d think it could easily be done but question is if they’d do it. I guess a better question is IF they did it would we even really know? I’d wager they fudge the numbers in those stockpiles one way or another but can’t say which so assuming they lie about those why should we trust how many and what kinds of nuclear warheads they hold. All those statements released aren’t for us anyways, it was just to show Russia we were complying with international treaties and rules we helped set but let’s be honest…..whose really gonna come check us or audit the US? Hell we have stockpiles overseas larger than some countries militaries for gods sake!! Not just ammo and weapons stored but vehicles and tanks and all kinds of other shit that’s kept ready so we can put boots on the ground and have ppl equipped before we can fly in more men and equipment. They have to have enough stuff to at least hold the airstrip and surrounding area at the very least and that’s the smallest of stockpiles and I’d wager we have a few of those positioned in Europe, some fairly close to Russia but our larger ones are prolly a little further back as in Germany or Greece or somewhere close. We may not keep extra nukes there but I’d be more surprised if we DIDNT keep them in US stockpiles tbh!!
"And one little idea why don't you put some big x-band and l-band radars on those big aircraft carriers and a couple of powerful lasers and make it an ABM" Attracting attention to the carriers is not such a good idea.
Why don't you make it mobile ?Like the russian s-300 or s-400 sam. It's less vulnerable and very versatile. Can be moved and placed where necessary.I really can't understand ,it seems a totally outdated concept like an air defence system of the 1950-s.We expect really innovative concepts and solutions from lockheedmartin not like this one.And one little idea why don't you put some big x-band and l-band radars on those big aircraft carriers and a couple of powerful lasers and make it an ABM.
Two cents worth. I live in Los Angeles. The first time the Navy turned on an Aegis radar in port. It blew up a lot of electronics in the port area and nearly shut the port down. I have read that these radar systems are deadly to human beings within so many meters. They of course are no longer allowed to operate Aegis anywhere near land in California. And no one will be on deck when it’s powered up. That’s why the hulls are shaped that way. Both to reflect radar and to keep people away from those arrays. These systems are designed for open ocean. We have a lot of that here. No more land just a couple miles away. Except for an island or two. Thank you for the inspiration. (I got to go aboard a brand new Los Angeles Class Nuclear Submarine about 25 years ago and they showed me the radar systems both passive and active and on one screen was a satellite view of the Hawaiian islands, clear as a sunny day. Impressive. I also got to see nuclear tipped cruse missiles and every part of the boat except the reactor room. And I remember that they were just a bunch of kids on that crew. I had to walk past 19 year young guys with M16’s to get on board but I was with my nephew who was the XO on a boomer, and he could go anywhere. That was a fun day.) Hermit
"Like the russian s-300 or s-400 sam" Because we already have THAAD and the TPY-2 which makes the S-400 look like a toy. AEGIS Ashore would be a purely ballistic missile defence system for homeland defence. But I agree, this system lacks flexibility.
BRUH, that Ace Combat hangar soundin ass music slaps
as awesome as that was, what kept me watching was that piano riff around 1 minute in
(Literally) Ace Combat hangar or menu music 😄
The Gerald Ford CVN-79/carrier will have a phased array system similar to the Aegis radar array.
God bless our troops, god bless America, AND GOD BLESS LOCKHEED MARTIN!!

Cost, everything cost money, and I think it is the US that paid to built, operate, and maintain it.
Kenneth, the WHOLE idea, is to STAY within original AEGIS parameters and use, which are ship based. NOTHING else needs to be said.

Holy fuck! Those are REAL? I hated these fuckin' things in Farbanti!
Poland , Romania , Japan use to
Have this system so far

Showing a model of rough components tells them nothing. All of the valuable technology is in the radar components, processing systems and missiles.
.... which they're not allowed to show.
Solution = Sukhoi 24 , again ?
That is fake news. SU 24 cannot overpower a ships radar
Huh I guess ace combat didn't make up a fake weapon system.
It was really a matter of time technically. And makes so much sense

This is automation theres nothing here the others dont have it's the radar and processing system that make it special
