This was taught ti me in church at a very early age. The Bible tells us “As a nan thinketh so is he” .
“Speak those things that be not as though they were”! If inky I had listened and out it into practice everyday. But starting today I will!

Dr. Helmstetter's self-talk methods should be taught in every school around the world. Children everywhere (and their parents) should be exposed to the benefits of daily self-talk.
It also wouldn't hurt to introduce these practices to convicts, so they could have a positive and therapeutic "antidote" to the oppressively negative environment in which they must live.
I wish there were a radio station or podcast that played uplifting self-talk for people to hear while at work or on the road.
There is a bright future for this therapy and many, many opportunities for its beneficial use. :)

I've read one of his books. And I'm currently reading another. It was so good to watch this interview. We can all benefit from being more aware of our self talk and improving it. So that instead of being our worst critic we are our best encourager.

@@conversationleaders I'm glad that you mentioned that. To me this is all new. But I feel like that saying "If you always do what you've always done. Then you'll always get what you've always gotten. So though this is new to me I'm still doing it and putting forth the effort so that things can improve.

@EmorettaRobinson, here's a few things I've done to maximize his work. I read two of his books: What to Say When You Talk With Yourself and The Power of Neuroplasticity. I've used his app called Self-Talk Plus+ and I've recorded several of the positive scripts from his book. I listen to them every morning. I lost 30 pounds after listening to the eating script for 18 months. You can rewire your brain but it's not an easy thing to do and takes lots of deliberate action.

@@conversationleaders it definitely does require effort. I've read "What to say when you're talking to yourself. " And I'm reading "Self talk for weight loss" currently. I just received "The Power of Neuro-plasticity" so I'll read that next. I'm glad that it's been working for you. Congratulations on your weight-loss. 🎉

I just listened to your interview with Dr. Helmsletter,. The conversation is very inspiring and motivating. I got the feeling that there is hope and together each in their own cormer of the world can make a difference in the life of others.Thank you so much for having this conversation. I have done some work on self-talk and during the height of the pandemic in 2020 I started writing and recording my positive self-talk statements. I could not really understand from your conversation if the recording in a person's own voice well ever be effective or not and so create the desired results. Can youplease explain more on this. Thank you, for being a part of this wonderful world.

Thanks for the feedback. What I understood from Dr. Helmstetter is it's most effective if it's in your own voice, but since very few people take the time to record themselves, he offers recordings others can use. I have subscribed to his app SelfTalk Plus and also recorded my own.
