When i traveled from NYC to Oxford for university, my father placed a note in my trunk that congratulated me on my placement, wished me well and hoped the experience enriched me. He ended the note in no uncertain terms: "Remember at all times: YOU ARE A GUEST IN THE COUNTRY. You abide by their rules, their traditions, their customs."
Best advice i ever received. It was also the best two years of my life.

They have to a certain extent (for guards with firearms anyway). The Foot Guards at Buckingham Palace used to be out front but they’re within the forecourt behind the fence now. The guards at the Tower of London have a small ankle-high partition that keeps tourists back although they still march through public areas.
Horseguards is a bit harder because it’s not just a barracks but that tunnel is how the public can get from Whitehall to St. James Park without going to Trafalgar Square or Parliament Square.

People on UA-cam just internalize authority figures berating civilians. Mostly right wing Americans that want there life to mean something (trust me I live around them every day). The rest of us can see the poor guy just didn't know he was in the way.

I watched a video about the soldiers changing watch at The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier and people were talking during it and the soldier overseeing it yelled out that people needed to stop talking as it was disrespectful. I'll paraphrase what someone already said - if you're going on vacation somewhere you've never been, learn the customs!!

Other guards would have walked into the rude man. Once he realized he was in the path he should have stepped aside. It is irritating to watch rude people.
