Yeah! Totally will/would watch a recap. The story in Destiny can be great, but it's easy to miss when under fire. Byf brings much needed added value. Also great for us who don't necessarily get to do everything (ex.: no friends to raid :( )
@@Jerahzz i think Forsaken (pretty obvious), Season of the Forge and this season were pretty good at changing gameplay for good and story, the loot was also great. Beyond Light had (in my opinion) an amazing story (not lore, story), maybe rough around the edges, but amazing overall.
Sagira's death should have been a cutscene instead of a blog post on Bungie's website. That alone would have helped flesh out the High Celebrant as a better villain. Actually seeing it KILL Sagira and almost Osiris too would have definitely given Season of the Hunt more narrative weight.
I might be tripping here but wasn't there a cutscene with the introduction of crow when season of the hunt kicked off with that happening edit: thinking about it I think it was just a shitty cutscene of crow saving osiris
@@ethanyeo2997 thats the same as dinkle bot he was a very expensive VA they switched him out for someone else to voice our ghost they could just find a cheaper VA for roles that are too expensive.
Crow is undoubtedly one of the best characters in Destiny now. The contrast between who he was as Uldren and who he is as the Crow now is only made more poignant when you understand that Uldren WAS as emotional and caring as his new self is before entering the Black Garden. It really goes to show that the Traveler, by reviving us without our memories, wants us to become better people, despite the immense power it grants us. Edit: Also please, do make recap videos. I personally don't need them as I play every season and watch all your videos, but when I try to explain all of this to my friends, as recap-type video might be the perfect starting point.
You also have to keep in mind that he did it all for Mara. His sister. Without her or at least the knowledge that she exists, he's free to just be himself. And Tbh IMO it's bittersweet...Crow talking in the Hawkmoon mission was touching and man the voice acting. 10/10
the only major problem i had with season of the hunt was osiris losing his ghost, it felt like it should have been a bigger deal than a few lines of dialog, other than that i thought the season was really good story wise.
Like Cayde before, the biggest reason they had Sagira die was because they couldn't get the voice actress. Disappointing yes, but understandable given the circumstances.
@@mikethehunter5212 yeah I agree. Still think there could’ve been at the least, a cutscene detailing the direct aftermath of sagiras death, like her ghost falling to the ground and Osiris’s immediate reaction etc. just SOMETHING
There was no investment other than the Crow, the slow descent of quality in content from match made activities to public events was a real problem for me. That being said I am utterly blown away by season of the chosen.
We know Mara's dislike in the Traveler and how it reanimates the dead for it's purposes, so Mara might actually be pissed off and hate Crow, viewing him as a twisted version of her brother's corpse. Or maybe she'll have a change of heart and accept this as a second, redeeming chance for Uldren - by becoming someone pure, someone new.
I remember in one of the forsaken lore books it mentions how uldren was always trying to surprise her (it's the main reason he and jolyon went into the black garden in the first place) but never succeeded. It would be interesting if him becoming a guardian, or something crow does as a gaurdian, is what finally surprises mara
My final critique is that Crow is the ultimate character and I love him as much as I do Cayde-6 (They are great for different reasons and so they cannot replace one another) Crow is what made the Season of the Hunt for me and without him it would have been terrible. He is an amazing character thus far and congrats to the team for making this a thing. I echo what Byf says about Crow’s development as a character. When the cutscenes for coup de grace showed up before the second one even played I was saying to myself “I want crow freed” and then when my character did it I was amazed and so happy. As for critique on this season, the other things in the background like the villain were kind of meh, as well as, like byf said, it lacked a certain middle to it and it kind of felt like the high celebrant just showed up all of a sudden. All of that said, I am loving Crow’s character and he really was the main focus of this season and he is growing to be important to the overall story which I am loving.
I agree, i like the crow cuz he got a proper character development, I didn't like cayde at first because, it was clearly bungie way to make the universe more comical, so they created a funny only funny character, that's not how humans work, I started loving cayde because of byfr's video about him, that made him human, but the storytelling is still shit tho
I think it would be amazing storytelling if Crow’s identity was revealed, and one of the guardians of the city/someone like Ikora who’s been absent for a while tells him how Uldren died, and he confronts us, where we then tell him what kind of life he led was, and then we have to regain his trust would be utterly fantastic
Yes please do Lore on Season of the Hunt. I missed a great deal of the season, and just finished Forsaken right before Beyond Light dropped. I want to know more about him.
I'd love a recap of Season of the Hunt. From what I've heard there's been a lot of good narrative things last season, but I've only seen bits and pieces. Your lore videos are always top quality, so a recap from you would be awesome.
I would very much appreciate a recap of season of the hunt, as I started playing Destiny about half way through it and was focusing on learning the game and not much else.
I definitely feel like season story recaps would be valuable, especially for people who didn't have the opportunity to play much of a particular season, given how much the seasonal stories are impacting the main narrative, and their time gated nature, i'm sure a lot of people would really appreciate that. (idk if hunts story is timegated, i know they changed some stuff with how seasons work, but definitely for older seasons, if it hasnt been done already)
Personally I was impressed how they handled Uldren/Crow I was really geared up to be disappointed by that, he would feel forced or just have too much baggage to get away from the sins of the past. They did a good job though of giving Crow his own identity and place in the world separate from Uldren and by having us work with him rather than for him helped build a rapport that I think set some good foundations for the future.
Byf I would love a recap, I’ve been a Destiny fan since The Taken king and I absolutely love the lore, however I haven’t been able to play for the past 2 years. Your videos capture the absolute joy destiny gives from playing and following the story. Take care and keep up the good work!

I am just as excited to see where Bungie takes this. I lost interest for about a year but recently came back for the season of the chosen and I am beginning to find that love for the game that drew me at the beginning
I started playing Destiny just this Season and was riding with Crow to learn what it might mean to be a Guardian. His smart and thoughtful questions are valued and gave me enough reason to question how many see the current state. Also his very dry and understated attempts to crack jokes are fantastic.
I really hope that one day in the future Bungiee can simplify all of these seasons and events down to 1 game. Imagine, a single game where you wake up, go through the events of D1, hit the events of D2, and finish out with D3. All raids and strikes have multiplayer, but for story purposes they can be easily completed on solo. All grind steps condensed and simplified. Then add in more cutscenes /NPC interactions where you can fulfill and take off some lore cards. The Holy Ghost 👻 of a game. 💚
Man... it is SO weird going to the shore right now & finding Crow in the Spider's hideout, then going to the HELM and having him in the new outfit there.
THAT SAID, I'm loving the story stuff right now, you're absolutely right about how much potential Crow has as a wonderful new LOVED character. =) Keep up the great work Byf!
My main issue with Hunt was the sheer lack of story missions and in tandem with the hunt activities. The story of SoTH can basically be seen as the Intro, Hawkmoon Quest, and High Celebrant Kill. The Hunt Quests are fine side activities for what they are, but they do not act in place properly for a story mission, and should not. What would be a good idea is like Arrivals, having a new story mission in place each week after doing certain hunts. A slow progression and feeling of actual progress in finding the Celebrant. Taking out those that are actually getting closer to The Celebrant and thus having actual traces of it, be it ritual sights, pieces of it, or even a sighting of it subjugating the Wrathborn to show just how hot on its tail we are. This then culminates in a finale mission where we finally corner it, basically like the final mission we had. Tldr: We needed more actual story missions and not just the boring Hunts we had
I think we needed one more mission between finding the High Celebrant on the Moon and tracking them down and killing them in the Dreaming City/Ascendant Realm. Perhaps another mission either on the Moon, Tangled Shore, or Dreaming City where we find the High Celebrant, we're tracking them down, but then before we can get them they escape and there's a bait and switch boss fight. We end on a low cause they slipped through our fingers, but maybe we discover or discern some information or scavenge some bit of Hive tech that helps us more precisely pinpoint the High Celebrant and track him even through the Ascendant Realm that leads us to the final mission. Kinda like the mission in Forsaken where we go to take out the Scorn Barons, they all outplay us and escape, then we gotta go picking them off one by one across the Shore.
The High Celebrant should’ve been a villain with actual voice lines. But we’re in the middle of a pandemic so if that’s the reason then I completely understand. Still, imagine the feeling of fighting this massive Hive Knight as he’s cursing you to burn eternally in soulfire....Talking about how the Goddess of War is coming for us all, to tear everyone we love apart personally. Hearing this as we fought him in the end would’ve made it a lot more exiting. And the Hive need to SPEAK to us more!
@@johnfreed357 I always forget the dare (even though it was in his last will messages). I do wonder how Crow would react hearing Cayde's vpoice saying "Congratulations, dummy!"
@@Zombiewho117 I honestly expected Ana to take that role. But I guess she's too busy tinkering with Rasputin. And from the others, no one seems to want the job.
@@inquisitorichijou883 Hunters love to be free, but being a Vanguard Leader you're stuck being in the tower most of the time, so I dont blame hunters not rising up to be the leader.
If you recap, you might as well do it with beyond light and season of the hunt. It’s nice to tack these wrap ups on with your award worthy 4 hour lore catch-up.
I also wanted more of the Darkness, they really need to explain in-mission what exactly all of the symbolisms and abstractions are. Same with the Traveler, but I guess we got some of that? A bird?
A lacking midpoint is something I didn't really think about, but it's a good point. We had the same set of wrathborn hunts from the start until the high celebrant. I think season of the chosen will do better here with the rolling out of new battlegrounds and the strike. The roadmap gives the impression that the narrative will escalate in a good way
Crows relationship towards the Eliksni is very interesting. In Season of the Chosen he debates Amanda regarding many Guardians fetish to use their bones as trophies. His perspective is good and adds a sober image of the current state of the solar system. I can really see him as a bridge builder with them.
I think it would be best to before with queen (and every major expansion) a ‘this year in destiny’ or whatever, where you go over all the lore from beyond light to season before witch queen
Biggest point of tension for me lore wise this season is that big moments would just happen off screen. Sagira’s Death ,Osiris and his promotion to Zavala’s right hand man , Xivu Arath’s appearance in the system and their feud against Savathun Reading these moments or just straight up being told they happened just aren’t enough for me if I’m entirely honest. I don’t animate or am a voice actor however I feel one of those animatics ( like how Eramis’s backstory scene) would fit these super well and Bungie should lean more into them
I wanted to see crow land in the tower and walk in with no idea of who he was and seeing zavala and ikoras reaction to him being alive. I think it would have been a good reason to have ikora question the light and open her up to the darkness. I think they dropped the ball with uldren/crow
I know you mentioned it for just a moment, but this was the first Dawning event that I didn't even log in once, and they can't even have Crimson Days, because they removed the doubles playlist from the game. The lack of genuinely decent live events sucks, let alone anything good. With that being said... Seasons of the Hunt and Chosen are both wonderful so far.
I keep thinking that next season we'll see a possible return of Asher or Ikora who interact with the Vex. Because I feel like if the guardians help the races band together against the Darkness it would go like this. Crow-Fallen(I can't remember how to spell their true name) Zavala-Cabal(earning their respect, dominance in this worthy season) Ikora-Vex(potentially a return of a Vex Mind Asher maybe?)
I honestly don't have an issue with some seasons being disconnected from each other, the Darkness might be the big bad but all of the villain factions have agency of their own beyond being puppeted by the Darkness. People might complain about having to fight the Hive for the billionth time or the Cabal, and I'll admit that I feel the same way sometimes, but it all goes to show that they're not disposable one-off villains and are here for the long haul.
Season recaps would be awesome because I am having a hard time keeping up with the lore that's scattered accross bungies posts, armor pieces, lore books. I've been playing for 3 years and most of the time I barely have an idea what's going on storywise. Too Bad because destiny has a really awesome lore they should just find a way to tell that story in the game and make me more engaged as a player. Season of the Hunt tried it with cinematics and I love cinematics but they felt so cheap and lame. Now Season of the chiosen seems to tell it via story mission which also works for me. Most of my clanmates have no idea about lore at all they just shoot things and they don't even know about all the awesomenesa. So yeah, recaps for seasons please.
I can't wait until Crow meets Mara, Mara is one of the most interesting characters and seeing her interact with her once brother turned into a tool of light will be super fascinating.
Seasons of the hunt recap would be great imo
Byf needs to make "Last time on Destiny" videos until Bungie does.

Byf you are a legend. Keep up the good work!
Considering the seasonal format, I think seasonal recaps are fantastic for new players, returning players, and even just a general refresher
I started playing Destiny just this Season and was riding with Crow to learn what it might mean to be a Guardian. His smart and thoughtful questions are valued and gave me enough reason to question how many see the current state. Also his very dry and understated attempts to crack jokes are fantastic.
Yes, I'd love a recap of this (and hopefully following) seasons
I really hope that one day in the future Bungiee can simplify all of these seasons and events down to 1 game. Imagine, a single game where you wake up, go through the events of D1, hit the events of D2, and finish out with D3. All raids and strikes have multiplayer, but for story purposes they can be easily completed on solo. All grind steps condensed and simplified. Then add in more cutscenes /NPC interactions where you can fulfill and take off some lore cards. The Holy Ghost 👻 of a game. 💚
A recap would be very helpful. Primarily just so I can remind myself how it ties into this current season.
I don't know how but season of the dawn, season of the hunt and the season of the chosen some how turned Osiris into one of my favorite characters
Man... it is SO weird going to the shore right now & finding Crow in the Spider's hideout, then going to the HELM and having him in the new outfit there.
THAT SAID, I'm loving the story stuff right now, you're absolutely right about how much potential Crow has as a wonderful new LOVED character. =) Keep up the great work Byf!
I don't play Destiny 2 any more, but I like your lore videos. I would love it you do seasonal lore recaps.
Season 13 already feels fresh for me. Last season just felt so bland.
Yes I wanna see season of the hunt content... that’s cool.
I would love a recap for the season, as I recently switched to Linux on my pc and can't play destiny 2 anymore sadly
Having a recap after any given season would be great, if not for views but for the players trying to figure it out
the return of Saladin and the references to Shiro and Tyra makes me hope next season is SIVA related, with Mithrax finally making a reappearance.
I would love seasonal recaps, I missed a lot of the previous seasons and having some way to refer back to the content would be nice!
Please make the recap. I think they're amazing for returning and new players!
I absolutely want a recap of season of the hunt. I missed the last couple of weeks.
Ironically, the guardian who was the guy to kill Cayde might be taking Cayde's place.
If anything he’s gonna end up being The Speaker
He doesn’t have the knowledge to be Hunter Vanguard. It should be Anna, Shiro-4, or Marcus Ren
@@johnfreed357 wasn't it Ikora who said, if they follow the dare savathun will be Hunter vanguard?
tbh i would love recap videos for all seasons. im never going to catch all the content and lore but would like to get it summarized.
The lore from season of the hunt is amazing. Not much I can say for the action beside harbringer. Can't wait to read more from this season.
If you recap, you might as well do it with beyond light and season of the hunt. It’s nice to tack these wrap ups on with your award worthy 4 hour lore catch-up.
Main issue I have with this season is Crows new outfit. But that's just personal taste
White is definitely not his color.
Kinda weird innit?
I also wanted more of the Darkness, they really need to explain in-mission what exactly all of the symbolisms and abstractions are. Same with the Traveler, but I guess we got some of that? A bird?
Season of the Hunt recap would be super dope.
I would love seasonal story recaps, honestly without your content I would be able to coherently stitch together what D2s story is,and I play daily.
I think it would be best to before with queen (and every major expansion) a ‘this year in destiny’ or whatever, where you go over all the lore from beyond light to season before witch queen
I would love a full recap. Didn't get to play much this season so I only have bits and pieces of the story.
Crow: Kell of the House of Light
Crow: Kell of Kells
Biggest point of tension for me lore wise this season is that big moments would just happen off screen. Sagira’s Death ,Osiris and his promotion to Zavala’s right hand man , Xivu Arath’s appearance in the system and their feud against Savathun
Reading these moments or just straight up being told they happened just aren’t enough for me if I’m entirely honest. I don’t animate or am a voice actor however I feel one of those animatics ( like how Eramis’s backstory scene) would fit these super well and Bungie should lean more into them
i hope its not too late but i would LOVE a season recap for season of the hunt. i stoped playing half way though and wanna see what lore i missed
I just noticed today that variks also hums savathuns song
Seasonal story recaps would be GREAT
I wanted to see crow land in the tower and walk in with no idea of who he was and seeing zavala and ikoras reaction to him being alive. I think it would have been a good reason to have ikora question the light and open her up to the darkness. I think they dropped the ball with uldren/crow
You the man byf thanks for the hard work and great videos
Ever since Shadow keep content wise each season has been hit or miss. But lore and story wise, it's been the best story telling Bungie has ever done!
I know you mentioned it for just a moment, but this was the first Dawning event that I didn't even log in once, and they can't even have Crimson Days, because they removed the doubles playlist from the game. The lack of genuinely decent live events sucks, let alone anything good. With that being said... Seasons of the Hunt and Chosen are both wonderful so far.
yes byf please make a recap of season of the hunt, while our at it after witch queen or maybe lightfall you can do a complete story if destiny part 2
I keep thinking that next season we'll see a possible return of Asher or Ikora who interact with the Vex.
Because I feel like if the guardians help the races band together against the Darkness it would go like this.
Crow-Fallen(I can't remember how to spell their true name)
Zavala-Cabal(earning their respect, dominance in this worthy season)
Ikora-Vex(potentially a return of a Vex Mind Asher maybe?)
Byf calling Datto “The mainstream player base” had my laughing
The uh.... the description says season of the Hunter. Great video, that was just the first thing I noticed.
I’m tired af today after grinding that grenade launcher out . Truth. It’s the nostalgia. Datto had made a good pumped up video the other day .
Space opera= Firefly...for one glorious season.
I would really appreciate a season of the hunt recap
Did he ever make a Season of the Hunt recap? Just coming back and would love to fill in all the holes of lore
0:24 Bungie should put a display on that pillar with a hit score....
i would love a s12 recap! ly byf
I can't wait until Crow meets Mara, Mara is one of the most interesting characters and seeing her interact with her once brother turned into a tool of light will be super fascinating.
I would love to watch a recap since I haven't had time to play these past few seasons
Lore daddy is back!
Wow haven’t been this early ever.
I can’t wait for the hive and darkness lore!
Hmmmmm wonder if there is going to be anything with savathuun playing with crows old memories
I miss season of the hunt so a video on last season story would be awesome
