Catching Catfish In MICRO PEN Fishing Rod Challenge!?

- This was a pretty intense challenge. Not only was it a tough day of fishing, but I had some malfunctions with the rod/reel. I was still able to complete the challenge, though, catching a pretty solid blue catfish. Hope you guys enjoy!

Time: 7:30am - 11:00am
Water Temperature: 84°
Current Level: 7,000 cfs
Bait: Chicken breast
Tackle: Micro pen fishing rod/reel combo spooled with 10 lb monofiliament line down to a 20 lb monofilament leader with a 4/0 kahle hook
Method: Drift fishing from my 17' Aluminum G3 Gator Jon Boat

Looks like fun....i was just challenged using a Barbie pole fishing on ohio river. It was all fun til we hooked a 18lb carp. Got it in tho took forever. Good job, way to stick with it.

Ultra light rods have WAY BETTER action than the micro pen rods!
I don't think those pen rods where intended to catch big catfish they basically are made for bass and panfish

That would be quite the challenge. The parts on this rod/reel combo were super cheap. I was very surprised that an 8 lb blue pulled the reel out of the reel seat while it was in the rod holder. Crazy stuff!

you should try an actual legit pen rod from penfishingrods.com they are not made cheaply and have caught up to 23lb carp! nice video
