Well done, sir! Your video sold me on KoolRV over their competitor. Thanks for the input and the short example of installation. I'm with you, if one company can get me a super comparable product, you can bet I'll go with the lesser expensive one! Glad I stumbled upon your channel! Keep up the great work!
I have both in my RV and for the money I would go KoolRV all day. Easier to install and the performance is so close. Plus the sound deadening is similar. For real sound reduction we just installed an RV air silencer by Wacko products in our bedroom and it cut the noise significantly!!!
Awesome Video! Was looking for a comparison article or video and with your hard work, knowledge, and opinions I’ve made my decision. Once again thank you!!
I have a 2020 Rockwood 2109s and wanted to either do the diy version, Koolrv or Airflow to increase the flow. I just inspected my unit which is a Coleman Mach 15 and apparently I can't do any of them. Rockwood, in their infinite wisdom ran the ac power and control wiring straight through the plenum and just below the air outlet. I was only able to tape off any holes and install a rigid foam bottom to the outlet section and discard the air dump baffle. A little better flow but not what I was hoping for.
Very nice job. Very thorough and entirely fair. Especially given the price difference this is a no brainer. Have you noticed any difference in noise level between this, stock, and RV Airflow?
Thanks for the comment! The difference in sound reduction between the 2 is non-existent. The difference from stock is minimal at best with the Kool RV being slightly better. Thanks for watching!
Thank you, fine sir! I just subscribed to your channel & ordered 2, for my rv. Thank you for a very informative video. Ill be passing this on to others.
Really good review. I was pretty much set on the Kool RV product, but you put it over the top for me, for all the reasons you mentioned. Good data presentation, plus intuitively the KoolRV priduct should be better than the other priduct because it ducts the air directly into the ductwork. The competitor's pieces of foam directs the air "at" the ductwork. Thanks again.
We have Coleman Mach Q acs in our rv. those acs have a more significant solid foam divider than most rv acs. Wokod there be any advantage to removing that (it is removable) and installing the kool rv instead to get better airflow because it dumps directly into the vents? our airflow is not horrible, just looking to be as efficient as possible in the SC heat!
wish website set up where you could punch in make model year and know if compatible. great idea, good price but have bought too many rv gadgets only to find they don't match up for one reason or another
Good idea, however, often times rv manufactures install different ac units depending on availability. The best thing to do is find specifically what ac unit you own and match it up. You could also pull the interior cover off pretty easy and take a look to help verify if the item you are buying fits. KOOLRV would be glad to answer and questions you make have as well. Thanks for the comment!
There's not that much heat loss happening in the hose section since the velocity is dramatically increased. It's minimal at best. We've camped in 100° extreme humidity and stayed cool inside the rv.
I’m wondering , if you pause your video when you take off the plastic vent cover there is a gap that is outside the actual duct. I bet if you pre tape the duct entry you’ll gain even more flow
The KoolRV kit actually comes with tape designed specifically for taping those gaps. After installing, I taped all the gaps to ensure a good seal. Thanks for the comment
Thanks for asking. Any insulating properties the foam may have is irrelevant to cooling performance. The magic is in the ability of each product to reduce turbulence at the plenum to ductwork transition. You can pay $170 or $75 to get the same result.
Bummer. I was hoping that Kool would reduce the noise against stock at least. Nevertheless, I pulled the trigger on one since they finally restocked. Thanks for the review @@blueridgefamilyoutdoors
@@CrispyBones1milI have both and the koolrv does reduce noise over stock. I would say almost as good as rvairflow. If noise is your concern check out the RV air silencer by wacko products. Got one at the rv show and it makes a huge difference in our bedroom a/c. Going to order 2 more for the others.
Just my 2 cents I have installed the competition unit what a pain in the butt!, I had to unscrew the ac from the inside to get the foam in ended up stripping one of the bolts had to use a nut and bolt. Never again I will definitely use this product instead super simple install. And 1/2 the price. I don’t understand why you would need to close the quick cool as stated the more incoming flow the better, this being said once I get and install the product I may put a filter on the quick cool to see if it changes anything. It’s important that if you try this use a filter of some type you don’t want to suck dust into the system.
I didn't think to do that since it was a comparison video. I can tell you that the combined flow is substantially more than stock. Thanks for watching!
I bought an Airflow 3 years ago and was really surprised at how simple it was for the money paid. It solved a problem though before there was anyone else. I'm planning on buying a kool rv for my forward unit so we'll see the difference.
Great video. Thank you. I ordered using your affiliate link. I would recommend you consider pinning this comment so it stays at the top plus add the link to your description box as well. Thanks again.
I don’t think the play in the hoses are universal. I don’t think that is a Coleman AC which there are different types based on the air flow size. For my Coleman AC my cool RV hoses don’t reach the opening in the track. I had to replace them with dryer duct hoses to make reach. Good system when compared financially it takes the $175 airflow, down to 75 but I think it’s just as good as the $20 foamcore. Going to post my reviews soon. The word is def not out yet on this product
Was highly considering the KoolRv until I noticed these 2 issues from your video. 1 - you never actually showed the foam option. I think if you had, it would have weighed against your argument here. 2 - your data actually supported the foam product. I think that’s why you blew over it. Thank you for steering me to keep the current foam duct (competitor) I have in my system.
Thanks for watching. The data supported that for less than half the price, you get a very comparable product. The (competitor) was installed in my rv from the factory, so it doesn't make sense to remove it and install something that does the exact same thing. I wouldn't expect anyone in their sane mind to remove the foam to install the KOOLRV. This content is geared more toward someone who has neither product. Thanks for the comment, though.
It wasn't necessarily an install video as install is simple at beat. It was meant more for proof of effectiveness with actual data points. Thanks for watching
I talked to explain why it's better than RV AirFlow. Those interested in why it's better was the intended target audience. Additionally, it wasn't intended to be an installation video per se, as I don't think the install is difficult enough to spend time on honestly. Directions are included if needed.
If you look at it from a material and construction standpoint, the KoolRv my be a but overpriced, but the other is certainly overpriced. From a benefit standpoint and the time I would have to invest in making a similar product to achieve the same result, I'll pay for the KoolRv all day.
I bought the product. It was better than described, simple to install, and a definite improvement. Great review!
Thanks for the comment!
great review. answered the big question with clear response. thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Going through the KoolRV quiz, it feels like make this prodcut for one very specific RV setup.
They should have options for the most popular branded AC's
Thanks for posting, you’ve convinced me to go with the Kool RV product. Thanks again.
Thanks!

Thanks for the comment. KOOLRV is definitely a great product. You'll be pleased with your purchase.
Did you get a lot of condensation after installing this? I saw a few comments other places complaining about that.
No more than usual. If it's really humid, you'll get some around the ceiling registers . But that has nothing to do with the KoolRV product.

It should help significantly like the results you saw in the video on those units too. Thanks for asking and watching.
What's the sound difference like between the two? Did you take a decibel reading on your phone under each unit by chance?
It's negligible. I didn't bother because it sounded the same.

I’d love to see the comparison of both products using the same AC unit … that said I’m leaning towards the koolrv or the self mod method using foam .
That would certainly answer questions one may have.
@@blueridgefamilyoutdoors Do you notice the noise level improved with either one? More Quite
Would I be able to use the Koolrv with the addition with the rv ac silencer ?
Yes. The silencer is an external accessory. The KoolRv is internal to the plenum. They work in conjunction with one another.
Does it not being insulated create much difference? But it’s hard to justify $170 for a block of styrofoam.

I agree. This is much simpler to install than the RVAirFlow and cheaper. Thanks for the thoughts and feedback.
Out of curiosity, do you have the flow rates when both air conditioners are running?
I didn't think to do that since it was a comparison video. I can tell you that the combined flow is substantially more than stock. Thanks for watching!
They don't have any in. I paid 170.00 for an Airflow because they have it, it works great and it was at my door in less than a week.
Yeah. They don't yet have a model available that fits every A/C just yet. It's in the works. Thanks for watching and commenting.

The sound difference is negligible, but it is slightly quieter with the KoolRV product

The heat out there is brutal. Anything helps in the Arizona summers. Thanks for watching!
Where did you find your sun shade for the ac’s? Currently in AZ as well in an RV and struggling cooling it off.
