    Ok, looks like need to clarify.
    Many people really think now that Japan conducted suicide truck attacks in 1939 against Soviets.
    That is not true. My animation is based on the movie "My way" and I liked that battle scene, however it's a fiction, not history authentic scene. It's a kind of bright fairytale for interesting picture. Japan army did not have any suicide squads until the end of the war period... like 1945. And not trucks, they did not have enough oil for those things.
    So the movie "My way" and my animation inspired by that movie is a fiction story.

    I am a university student in Japan. Thank you for a wonderful video.
    The Nomonhan Incident was a tactical and strategic defeat for the Japanese army, but the reflection of Nomonhan was not used at all in the subsequent world war. A mouth seal was made.
    The Soviet Army's final offensive caused heavy casualties among field officers, while some troops managed to escape from the encirclement.
    These "surviving field officers" were forced to commit suicide by Japanese military commanders. As a result, Lieutenant Colonel Ioki and others
    Many officers who experienced combat with the Soviet armored forces, which was probably the world's leading at that time, were driven to self-determination.
    In addition, the surviving soldiers were sent to the fierce battlefields in the subsequent wars with China and the United States after strict gag orders were laid.
    I can't help but feel sorry for the soldiers on the ground who fought to the end, following reckless orders from headquarters in Tokyo and Shinkyo without a purpose.

    My grandfather served in Kwantung army in Manchukuo between 1944-1945. He was captured as POW by the Red Army in '45 thru '50, and finally returning to Japan after 5 years of brutal physical labor in Siberia. He did not fight in the battle of Khalkin Gol, but he did see his friends and comrades die in both Manchuria and Siberian POW camps. I believe this side of WW2 is overshadowed by the Pacific War and war in Europe. I wish more people will recognize battles and history of war in the far east.

    Excellent video. There is some discussion that because the Japanese suffered heavily in fighting Russian forces under General Zhukov (if I remember my mil history correctly), that it swayed the Japanese high command to NOT declare war against the Soviet Union when Germany launched Operation Barbarossa in June of 1941. Instead of using the Kwantung Army to attack the Soviet units they stayed put. Stalin withdrew the Far Eastern Divisions facing the Japanese and deployed them to Moscow. The Japanese, sensing the Russians were too much trouble, decided to attack eastwards starting with launching an air raid against the Americans at their naval base at Pearl Harbor, Hawaii......

    • @LCMhistory
      @LCMhistory  Рік тому +1

      Well, Zhukov first of all made great casualties to his own army. He sent tank army without infantry/artellery cover and those tanks did manage to smash japanese defence but with high loss rate in russian tanks.

    • @tomawen5916
      @tomawen5916 Рік тому

      @@LCMhistory Ironically, this battle showed Zhukov's temperament in how he won battles. He would throw tanks in waves to "soften" the enemy then follow it up with infantry who then were killed from enemy infantry and machine guns then kept repeating the tactics until the enemy was wiped out. His biggest offense was in the battle for the Seelow Heights in April of 1945 when the Russians were stuck trying to knock out the emplaced German 88mm, 105mm and other flak guns supported by infantry. Zhukov's answer was to prematurely commit the 8th Guards Tank Army over General Chuikov's protests and hundreds of tanks were stuck on the west bank of the Oder River being knocked out by German flak guns. A waste of tanks but eventually the Russians overwhelmed the defenders but at high cost. So this battle was a prelude of what would happen in the future.
