In order to sell these services do I need to have experience myself working in the construction business? Because I don’t understand the equipment or technical aspect. Also is door to door sales a good approach in construction to find clients?
Hi Ali. No you don’t! If you’ve been selling software, construction sales is going to be an easy transition. You’ll need to get a basic understanding of construction so you can make the right recommendations, but the person that really needs to know a lot is your dad and the installers. How are you guys doing your estimating?

I have experience selling broadband door to door and software over online, so was thinking of helping his business after my current software developer 9-5 job. Do you think door to door would also be a good approach for this? And also is it feasible to do this alongside my 9-5?
Hey Angelica. When a GC doesn’t know you, your job is to get to know them. And the excuse is to start bidding for them so once you start getting on their bid list, you should start visiting their office, calling them, and doing general follow up. What kind of work do you do? What trades?

What bad reviews? The truth is all the lead platforms all pretty much do the same thing. They publish contact information for you to go prospecting and networking. The problem is a lot of contractors are good at construction, but bad business and salespeople.
Stephano, all the lead platforms basically do the same thing. What you want is to use them to get access to contractors and owners that need your bid. If you read any negative reviews, it’s likely that the people putting the reviews didn’t know how to sell commercial jobs. It’s different than residential.
