Was it just me, or did this game feel highly sophisticated at the time? I was 11yrs old when this title was released (31yr old as I write this comment). This game and Z.O.E. were my favorites to play during this era of gaming :)

Something fun I've found out, playing through this game as mostly, one of the intel troopers?
You can dodge Barabas' laser in his first fight, by jumping out of a sideways roll. I honestly haven't played much else during the game, since that character is my favorite, but I noticed that part of the strat was to do a level reload.
With a little bit of experimenting, MAYBE there are some options for dodging THAT obstacle in particular, that could shave off some time. I mean, whenever _I_ just played Konoko, I'd flip behind the bike for cover, crouch, and then charge in.
ALSO- I'm not sure, but I think, sprint sliding does about as much damage as those punch-punch-kick combos you were doing when Barabas was downed. That, and flips, were my usual go-tos, and usually faster than that. I'm not trying to nitpick, I just _love_ playing this game, and I'm mentioning whatever I can.

Ещё раз поздравляю, возможно попробую отобрать ВР обратно, но разрыв пока кажется прям колоссальным.
Этот ран подозрительный, возможно он заскриптованный. 22:47 нажимает кнопку и останавливается возле стенки непонятно зачем (походу включает скрипт). Далее игрок пропускает вторую кнопку и на третьей кнопке 23:27 у него активируется вторая кнопка автоматом. Совпадение? Не думаю.
Дальше не смотрел в принципе думаю там можно еще подобных странностей нарыть, объясняющих быстрое время.
+ босс в начале этого эпизода подозрительно быстро упал.
Проходил пьяным эту игру на харде намедни, геймлей есть у меня на канале. Нулевую миссию с тренировками вообще можно честно скипнуть через сейв-лоад.

Пропуск тренировки через сейв-лоада - это, конечно, гениально. Однако в текущей категории по правилам игра начинается с самого начала, а не со Склада или вообще последнего чекпоинта последней главы. Не я эти правила придумывал и писал.
Босс отлетел быстро, потому что под бустом и использованы самые сильные удары. Это даже не самый быстрый способ. Есть ещё быстрее - в WR-ране можно посмотреть.
На 22:47 остановка нужна была была для того, чтобы сильно не топать и не отвлекать охранника, который мешает активировать консоль. На 23:27 вторая кнопка активна потому, что кто-то невнимательно смотрел: её открывает сам Commguy на 23:15
Хотя у меня почему-то нет большой уверенности, что я это объясняю с пользой.

@@BarnacleRus А не могли бы вы ответить зачем вы с сейва переодически загружаетесь. Например в той же драке с Барабосом. Это какие то счетчики игры сбрасывает или что? Вообще видео классное, но не хватает комментариев эксперта
@@Andrey_Krotov Загрузка сбрасывает позицию врагов и лазеров. Иногда делает странные вещи, как например автоматически активированный терминал на 1:05:00
В случае с Барабасом отличается выстрел из оружия. Делать это необязательно, но тогда мне не хотелось потерять здоровье, если не увернуться достаточно быстро.
Следующая загрузка в принципе аналогичная. Есть 2 триггера: первый стоит до двери и спаунит врагов на первом этаже, а второй стоит за дверью и сохраняет игру. Всё, что я пытался сделать конкретно там - особо не шуметь и успеть проскочить в комнату с терминалом до того, как охранник повернётся и заметит. Сброс позиции и открытая дверь добавляют немного времени. Делать это тоже не обязательно, т.к. целью является активация терминала максимально быстро. Как конкретно - каждый решает сам. И да, это также явно не самый быстрый способ, во многих моментах у меня задача была особо не рисковать и не терять здоровье.
Стоило переиграть уже только ради того, чтобы Керр остался жив)
Кое-где он юзает читы, но например про фургон, и про сетку в аэропорту я давно знал )

О, чел, моë увожение.
Хотя, предпочитаю русский дубляж. Не без греха, конечно, но уж больно душевно озвучен мейн каст. Особенно главная героиня, в которую Ольга Плетнева буквально вдохнула жизнь, превратив писклявую школьницу в сильную женщину, которой вполне по плечу противостоять и силам Синдиката, и TCTF.
Как говорится, на вкус... Не собираюсь переубеждать, но, если исключить всякую ностальгию, русский дубляж на мой взгляд спустя 20 лет довольно плохо состарился. У Коноко по сути нет эмоций, а Чонишвили и Репетур превращают дубляж в "типичный всего и вся".
Мне довелось поиграть на всех локализациях, и для себя я могу отметить оригинал и японскую версию. Ну может быть ещё итальянскую, потому что она по-итальянски смешная. В случае же с оригиналом и японской версией они обе примечательны своими актёрами, как то Аманда Винн-Ли или Котоно Митсуиши. Забавно, что обе озвучивали персонажей в Евангелионе, а последняя так ещё и Сэйлор Мун до кучи. Хотя это в любом случае интересно лишь для тех, "кто в теме".
Вообще, этот ран уже давно состарился и был перебит 250 раз, благодаря новой инфе. Если раньше ещё можно было подбирать озвучку для спидрана на свой вкус, то теперь желательно выбирать между испанской и итальянской банально потому, что они быстрее всех остальных на целую минуту в скорости диалогов. А в случае с японской вообще на 4 минуты. Такие дела.

Oni - одна из немногих игр, которая была нормально русифицирована. я точто помню, что перевод был сделан грамматически достойно, да и озвучка мне сильно нравилась. на фоне остальных-то игр эпохи
@@cynth0984 Возможно грамматических ошибок там и нет, однако неправильный перевод всё-таки присутствует. Из того, что сходу приходит на ум: в конце 2 уровня фраза "She insisted" переведена как "Она не сдаётся"; на том же уровне в моменте с мозгом не хватает одной или нескольких фраз (про "ноги" там точно нет); описание 14-го уровня "Syndicate Mountain Compound" переведено как "Горная резиденция TCTF".
Возможно есть что-то помимо... помню, что кто-то говорил, что где-то перепутаны минуты с секундами, но наверняка не скажу.
Ну а так да, на то время в принципе не так много было игр с русской озвучкой, к тому же официальной. Так что неудивительно, что она до сих нравится людям.

Well there was no point to drop-pick the weapon again in my case. What I was trying to do there is to open the door and see where the Striker is. My strat was kinda safe back then, I wanted not to loose the shot, do it before the Striker reaches the stairs, and most importantly not to loose health in this place. There was a chance that "everything goes wrong".

Ha, for me it's opposite... Oni sfx in Halo. :p But yeah, Martin O'Donnell worked on both games. I've never actually played Halo, but I know that sounds like Scream Cannon sfx was reused for example.

Seeing as you haven't uploaded anything in 6 months I dunno if you'll see this. I sent you an invite on steam to ask you a couple questions about your USF4 animation extraction tool I found on github. I'm a long time SF4 modder. I wrote the USF4 SRK frame data wiki, I wrote the wiki for how to use the Ono!Tool mod tool, and I was a tester for the FrameTrapped SF4 hitbox viewer. animation extraction is something nobody has actually reached the point of being able to do in SF4's entire history. Being able to extract animations would be EXTREMELY useful for the street fighter modding community even if there isn't a way to inject new ones. When I attempted to use your tool I got an error "the program can't start because d3dx9d_43.dll is missing" so I couldn't test it myself. There is a discord dedicated to modding both Street Fighter 4 and Street Fighter 5

Only few things are introduced with myself, as a lot of them were discovered by previous runners and regular players. Some glitches and tricks are almost from two decades ago.

How do you fix the crappy mouse control?

So in general this caused by high fps or DPI. For high fps you can either apply hz patch or cap your framerate to 60.
In my case I switched to windowed mode in Daodan, disabled vsync completely in driver, and capped fps in RTSS. I tried to cap it in driver, but the frame pacing was awful for me.

You can't get this this game officially. Legal copies can be obtained on second hand markets, like ebay. But, you know... there are some "other places" too.
@@BarnacleRus what do you mean by other places? Some i searched for downloads by extracting files, but it doesnt work on my Windows 8 and it says 'file took long to respond'
@@burnout4819 You need to patch it either with "Anniversary Edition" mod or with a single Daodan dll wiki.oni2.net/Daodan_DLL
If you try the second method, it will work only with US version of the game. AE works with any.
Be aware, that Daodan has some gameplay patches enabled by default, so check "All Configuration Settings" section if you don't need them. For speedruns we disable them to match original gameplay.

@@burnout4819 I never had a CD myself. Several persons I knew had it, but not me. And I tried to get a legal copy too. It was already impossible to find one in my place back in 2004, when I played this game first time.
It doesn't matter now, because it was Russian version. I can't say I want to play it even casually today. I prefer either English or Japanese VO. For this category of speedrun we use only Italian/Spanish version anyway, because dialogs are faster. Having many physical copies in this case would be crazy.
No coincidence that the game is called Oni....and that the character has a neuralink connection to a guide....

That being said... the amount of combos here should be applied to console games for first and 3rd person pvp where you can move around as well...the games action commands are pretty simple.

No, this is original + Daodan.dll where all the gameplay patches are set to off. It's allowed to use Daodan by current rules.

@@RogerBaconGaming Well... her jumps are not consistent itself. Her sprint speed varies from 1.2 to 1.6 (chr_show_movement in devmode), which gives you different long jumps. Her jump height depends on the duration of button press. She has several collision spheres (chr_debug_sphere), which are moving weird during her jump-flips.
So it just a practice and a bit of luck. I remember I was trying to rotate camera to the window direction, in order to collide with the edge properly... but it still depends.

Speedrun doesn't mean you cannot take death. It's allowed by current rules in this category. FYI it's a common tactic for many games, especially in ANY%

Nope, you can't. The only thing you can do here is to get good RNG from Karen and make Shinatama to speak without pauses.
There is currently impossible way to skip however - you need to boost yourself through the ceiling to go out of bounds. This supposed to be a strat for any% category, but unfortunately replay keys are locked in this level for some reason.
I think speedruns shouldn't exploit the flaw in the game's geometry and there shouldn't even be character death.
