Back when there was one take it was what it was. It wasn’t about the imagery. It was about the music and people were more sincere. Better times trust me.

he borrowed them from Tom Jones !!!
It how his gotten high notes
I love how he still applied the Miami sound that made him popular in the 1970s and incorporated that to the synth textures of the 1980s. Talk about adjusting to the times.
Yes you gotta respect it 100
Yes he did. I’m impressed that he was able to keep the same music style yet tweaked it slightly for the times.
Can you define "Miami sound"? I keep seeing that term, but I don't know what it means!

Amazing, a couple of years before this release he was in a bad car accident, paralyzed, and could not walk! he came back and got right back into the studio and released this classic. Thank You KC!

The Kingsman brought me here. I haven't heard that song since high school !!!
I met him after a concert in Michigan at a little UP casino in the 90’s. He was so down to earth and super cool. My friends and I ate with him and a couple of his band members.

KC, you were my favorite band by far when I was a kid in the 70's and teen in the 80's. Your high energy music is incomparable! We need to see a biographical film of your life on the silver screen sometime soon!

Everlasting Song..
His stage presence is epic. He looks like an 8ft white Fine Young Cannibals. That finger snap head whip leg lift move was legendary.
vigorous finger snapping, using the whole arm to whip it, is not done enough these days.
KC got over so much serious problems. Thank so much UK to bring him a new #1. As usual UK and Netherlands have the best musical taste. Excelent but sounds like a demo.
Definitely should have No.1 on the charts back then. A true master piece!
I’m sorry but it could NEVER have been a number one hit back in 1982.
Disco was universally hated back then and KC and the Sunshine Band was definitely a disco band and that means that everyone “hated” them. That is why they were only able to make 18 on the Hot 100, and it was lucky to get that.
I was a fan and own this LP, and like you think it was a true masterpiece. But it was never going to get that kind of love from the mainstream audience.
I was in high school when this came out and in the early 90s I was a Pop DJ and got to meet and have a short chat with KC. I told him that “Give It Up” was my favorite song of his and he was appreciative.
@@josebrown5961The song was definitely a post disco song instead of a disco song, that was popular in the early 80s.
@@quanashiab.9620 Yes it was “post disco” but it was in the most hated time for disco. I was there I know. I bought the album when it came out.
@@josebrown5961yeah I can remember the late '70s and early 80s and what you said was true. I remember when all the "cool" kids were going around saying disco sucks.
@@patcola7335 Saying it? How about the T shirt craze where people had shirts with all kinds of things on them like DISCO SUCKS!
I was young and remember the really interesting time when disco “died.” All kinds of music got airplay, Punk Rock, Heavy Metal, and the beginnings of Hip Hop. As a young teenager it was a great time for music discovery.
I just love this number. It’s a song of all ages. Makes you wanna dance, a feel good track. 💃🏿 🕺🏾 😅
KC and The Sunshine Band are always happening and rocking the funky world. I've fortunately had the recent pleasure of seeing them LIVE in Columbia, SC indoors- and outdoors in Roanoke, Virgina at Elmwood Park. KC and The Sunshine Band are always high energy inspiring fantastic and magnificent.

KC is the most beautiful and talented man. His music gets everyone dancing. The man is awesome.❤
So, I was talking to Mom about K.C. and she asked a question that led to some Googling, which led to me reading about how he made this video after he was in a terrible car wreck that caused him so much damage he had to relearn how to walk, play the keyboard and I think they said talk and sing, too. I can't remember. it sounded horrendous. But, now I am way more impressed with this video! It's so much more than just a catchy song by a familiar face.
Thank you!! At least SOMEBODY in this comment section did some research!! A lot of them are just concentrating on how much coke they assume he was on! Probably projecting what they were doing themselves!
it's now 2022, but still the tune stays upbeat!
Love the 80s...
I don't know how I missed this gem in the 80s. Dudes attitude and confidence is off the charts.

Really?
@itsjemmabond yeah if you see him at end of 70s he was little more bigger but he lost lot of weight before he recorded this. He was partially paralyzed but he proved doctors wrong and was able to walk, dance, and perform in general

I grew up in this era. Listening to this makes me want to time travel in the era before virtual social media and smartphone. Plus, the artists of this era were passionate with their art, singing to the best of their ability.
it happened with all media industry bro. News, movies, videogames.... alll got destroyed by social politics.
Osama Anwar It’s more than just that. The Internet and digital technology made the entertainment industry more massive than it ever had been before and created a more fragmented consumer market than ever before. Before, you had to have record labels have the money to actually produce actual physical copies of records to sell during the analog days. Now they can make infinite copies of records to stream and to download and that ultimately creates way more competition for performers to sell their music and some resort to cheap publicity stunts like politics to get their foot in the door.
If only we could go back Rick I for one wouldn't come back to the present the world down the sewer 😢😢
