- I wanted to hate this thing, but whatever Sennheiser is doing with this sound bar, it's truly quite remarkable. I am not a sound bar type of guy, but for many, this makes a lot of sense for the garage, or "B-Team" room in your house where critical listening and sound quality is not the top priority. I have one of these in my living room with my TV and it's amazing for what it is.
It's not inexpensive, but for many, it makes a lot of sense if you want a great sounding speaker for your TV or garage.

I bought an ambeo to replace an eight year old jamo torsten sound bar I had in my living room, it sounds great but really needed a subwoofer in my opinion. I ended up buying an svs sb-1000 and used their wireless solution which works flawlessly. I wasnt exactly thrilled about how much this soundbar costs but im of the mindset that i would rather buy once and be happy with the quality rather then second guess myself and look for upgrades before the end of the life of the original purchase.
That cracks me up, a $2,500 speaker for the garage, for just some passive listening.
Yeah, this isn’t good for enough for my garage. I have NAD/DynAudio in mine.
have you had any overheating issues? i see you have it directly under your tv have you had any issues heat related with your tv? Im waiting for mine to arrive but have been reading and watching alot of reviews. heat seems to be an issue! I would greatly appreciate your thoughts on this. thank you in advance

Man you are the genuine guy who should be reviewing Yamaha YSP5600 soundbar! I had my doubt about this ambeo how this gonna sound with just 3 front tweeters! While Yamaha has 30 beam driver in front.
I have two of these at home, one in the bedroom and one in the living room. It's a great soundbar but I recommend getting a subwoofer one time. I went with the 12" Klipsch SPL-120 Powered Subwoofer.
New model is the Ambeo PLUS. It may have less drivers and power...but it has 3yr newer hardware--better CPU, Bluetooth, Wireless 6 etc, better setup mics, etc. It also is considered 7 channel as opposed to 5. It also is much less of a boat anchor---15 lbs vs 40. The reason both have multiple HDMI in is for TVs that dont have eARC---like mine.
Two key things about the Senns: thsy allow an external sub hookup so you aren't saddled with the junk usually included and can use your own of significantly higher quality. The other overlooked item is the brilliamt addition of RCA inputs for any analog components you may have (radio tuner or even eq'd turntable).
The plus isn't meant to replace the Max, it's more like the entry level soundbar with probably lesser quality drivers and amplifiers. The fact that now the max is not 2500 but around 2000, makes the plus feel expensive at 1500. And I think that only the max comes with an external mic for room calibration...
i have heard this soundbar (along with nakamichi) is the only soundbar with a dolby processor chip build in.
but i do not if this is true because i cannot find any source that state this, beside a vid about nakamichi where this soundbar was mentioned.
can you confirm this? because i find it very important before buying

Yes, they just came out with a smaller, less expensive version. The new one is called Soundbar Plus. It doesn't have room calibration software, but the new Plus has a wireless sub option.

The only subwoofer out for the Max is 1 wired output, no wireless. Can I simply use an RCA y splitter cable to connect 2 subwoofers ?
Or does this hurt the volts or ohms or something else ? I ask because, for every soundbar someone asks can I add 2 subwoofers and the answer is "no". This seems like a simple solution. What am I missing ?

I used to be really into the details when I was younger, Now I just want an easy option for good/great sound in my den (my B room). I was thinking a pair or SVS minis flanking, with The Maxes high crossover. Now probably just one.

The Ambeo sub will only pair wirelessly with the Ambeo Plus soundbar and not with this original Ambeo Max. Options are either cable or third party wireless kit.

I live in a 1100sf apt in nyc. living room is about 600sf. would you suggest this or a dynaudio w/ sub setup in a similar price range? thanks
Dynaudio with sub, the sub is worth the price... Your neighbors might not appreciate it but it's night and day
I find mine sounds better when i run everything to the speaker and then e arc cable to the tv

Oh, this with the wireless sub should replace my Sonos setup.
I did this, and never looked back. This soundbar is in a league of its own, though I really do love Sonos as a company.

Sennheiser lowered the price on the Ambeo Max by $500 to $2,000 since announcing their smaller Ambeo Soundbar Plus.
Where at? I'm seeing it at the Sennheiser store and other outlets like Best Buy for full price.
Not in the UK, damn expensive here like everything else.

There is a reason some speakers are called reference speakers. You refer to high quality in order to compare.

A sennheiser Ambeo Soundbar for the garage, yeah ok mate, you'd have a crappy radio or stereo for the garage, Try listening to an Atmos soundtrack in a living room turned up to volume 40 is absolutely crazy
