Aloha Kelly! Enjoyed this video, as well as the previous one (the red ink), very much. So much so that before watching this one, I was swatching inks of my own, albeit nothing as nice as the inks you have! That is a very nice, vibrant orange! I was waiting to pick up a notebook with Tomoe River paper and maybe another "tool" to apply the ink, but ended up just doing it on loose Tomoe River sheets and the plain Q-Tips! I forgot to comment on your other EF nib TWSBI Eco, but this orange one too, is no where close to as fine of a line as my EF TWSBI Eco nib? My TWSBI does put down a finer line than the F, but it has a lot more feedback. Not necessarily sharp, but not the best writing experience. Just like the Lamy EF & F. But in looking at the writing you did with both EF, I see a little broader line with the orange EF? The ink could be a factor as well? Anyway, I had other comments, but it's escaping in the puka in my head! BTW, the TWSBI Eco have gone up in price at $30.99 and most retailers won't offer any discounts on TWSBI (and Sailors.) Still a good deal and I will be getting a M nib as soon as I decide on what color I want. Have a nice weekend! Mahalo, Thomas

@kauaiphotography Hey Thomas. Well.... Cult Pens is having a sale right now offering 10% off, Twsbi's included & free shipping. They have Sailor too, but, ya know, Rome wasn't built in a day. Go check them out. I like the snarky things they say... it makes it fun. Customer service is on point too. Very friendly & warp speed shipping.
I do think it has a lot to do with the ink, as far as how fine or thick of a line you get... the Diamine Shimmers are very saturated. I'm head over heels smitten.
I imagine it's much cleaner using loose leaf tomoe river paper. I always seem to get ink all over my notebook & my fingers. I don't mind it though really. It just shows me that I am actively enjoying this hobby. 😊 Arigato ichiban pen friend! #1 lol haaaaaaaa

@@incitehope99 Hey Kelly, thanks for the heads up on the 10% off at Cult Pens. Do you pay via PayPal or credit card? I tried it earlier in the week via PayPal and the exchange rate was quite pricey, so maybe that was just a PayPal thing with fees and the exchange rate? I do notice that they have Diamine ink (and maybe other brands?) for a much lower price compared to US retailers? I am still eyeing a Pelikan, but when I saw the exchange rate, I backed out. Amazon had a good selection, but at the moment doesn't seem to have what I am looking for. Yes, I could tell that you are enjoying the Diamine Shimmer inks! I would feel overwhelmed having so much ink as I have a hard enough time just looking at the ink swatches and trying decide what to buy. I think my system of swatching will have to suffice for now. I can always tape in the sheets/pages to a notebook to make it easier to reference. Oh, that was the other thing that came to mind. Too bad the card pages are not clear on both sides, so you can see the wonderful ink splotches, which I find more interesting than the brushed on ink, although still better than my basic method using a q-tip. Enjoy and looking forward to more of your fountain pen and ink content. Take care, Thomas

@Kauaiphotography Thomas the exchange rate currently from pound sterling to usd is 1.31. Example 24.74 pound sterling is 32.38 for the Cement Grey Twsbi. The older Eco's are 21.00 pound sterling & 27.49 usd. I've checked out in both different ways. If you want to get a bunch of ink with free shipping though, since ink is very heavy collectively, it would be a sound choice, being that they offer free shipping. When I lived in Hawaii I shopped locally back then & it was predominantly gifts for family. With the economy the way it is & people being out of work due to Covid.... idk.... you just have to decide how you spend. I have collected my ink over time. I do allow myself the great privilege of using fountain pens & ink.
Anyways.... you could hand stitch a nice little set up with felt & use page protectors for the loose leaf. The sky is the limit in terms of how you want to set up your swatch book. Nothing has to be perfect. Just make it nice for yourself, as you see fit.

@@incitehope99 Aloha Kelly! I appreciate your comment regarding the exchange rate. It seems to be about what I saw with PayPal, so the PayPal fee is probably coming out of the total collected and not incorporated in the exchange rate? I think the only things I would order from Cult Pens would be any sale items, special items and more hard to find items. They do seem to have a TWSBI Eco or two that are not available here in the US. As for inks, they are still hard for me to decide and I would prefer not to try samples. I don't have much to comment on regarding the current state of things, but I do respect your humbleness. I'd like to think that it's just a part of either having lived in Hawaii or something you have to accept living in Hawaii. Don't know if that makes any sense? I have the swatching on A4 sized Tomoe River sectioned in thirds, so I could easily just washi tape it into a regular sized travelers notebook in the future. Mahalo for the inspiration. Thomas
