It had all the makings of one and it's a lot more sonically interesting than his actual hits. The Billie Jean-esque bass with the Jump-inspired synth and the swirling violins from a Bond theme wrapped up in disco blanket... man, this song has it all.
This is pop song perfection. It has Billie Jean's resembling powerful bass line. It has 70s disco orchestra sample thing. It has somehow modern keyboard riff kicking like a mule. I can't get enough of it.
This is what i listen to when im gettin ready to go out... its one of those songs that just gets you pumped and excited about the unpredictability of what could happen that night.
Still a banger a decade after its release. What a voice and what a groove. The Billie Jean-like bass line brings the juice with the disco strings arrangement on top.
I'm not a huge Ceelo fan but I'm living for the fact that this song is equal parts "Billie Jean" by MJ, "Jump" by Van Halen and chunks of a James Bond theme wrapped up in a weird disco confection. Brilliant.
+Katie Booth hey; follow me around ..if you dare.....I;m gonna find the best version of this song. it was pulled down ...now ill find it again. its back up again. cheers sister. see ya around
Had no clue this so was this old, heard it on Spotify and added it like a year ago, have always loved Ceelo but never heard this one before apparently. This is one of them timeless songs that’s just always gonna be a hit
This has been stuck in my head recently. I genuinely can't get enough, I loved it at the time and still do. I'm normally against sampling but this is all stitched together to perfection 👌🏻 And Cee-Lo's voice is gold.
melissa musito He's saying that the bass rhythm in this song seems like Michael Jackson's Billie Jean's bass rhythm, and this similarity is what makes it sounds like a 70's/80's song.
Don't worry. I can feel the 70's and 80's disco, funk sounds coming back. Similar to what happened in the 90's, especially with the acid jazz movement in UK. Hell, the whole French house is about sampling that time periods disco and funk. Maybe the time is now right, seeing how well Daft Punk did with their newest album.
I been livin for the weekend But no not anymore 'Cause here comes that familiar feelin' That Friday's famous for Yeah I'm lookin' for some action And it's out there somewhere You can feel the electricity All in the evening air And it may just be more of the same But sometimes you wanna go where everyone knows your name So I guess I'll have to wait and see But I'm just gonna let something brand new happen to me And it's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright Bright lights and the big city It belongs to us tonight Now Friday's cool But there's somethin' about Saturday night You can't say what you won't do 'Cause you know that you just might I'm alive this evening It was love at first sight This Saturday And every Saturday for the rest of my life And everyone's standin' in line Yeah lookin' good and lookin' for a real good time So I'll never have to wonder if I'll have someone to share all of this with And it's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright Bright lights and the big city It belongs to us tonight Yes I need it Everybody does Cocktails and conversation Music and making love And it's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright It's alright Bright lights and the big city It belongs to us tonight Bright lights, bright lights, bright lights And the big city It belongs to us tonight
I remember hearing this song all the time when it came out and completely forgot about it till today. What a banger. Ceelo should have been much bigger.
Loving the Billie Jean base line! Can't go wrong with a good base line! This song should have gotten more attention. Perfect song for driving home after work!
Macys playlist introduced me to this marvelous song in 2010 when i used to work there. I, knew of Ceelo Green from before 2010 since early 2000s, but hadn't heard this song until I was 19 years old in 2010. What a classy sophisticated luxurious feel to this song (really matched Macys vibe) , but with a relatable, positive message, encouraging & empowering lyrics.
Listening to this song makes me cry because it makes me think of how much better everything was when I didn’t have to worry about school that much and how I’m going to save my money to live a decent life
Quite a talent. This man is very gifted. And I love the fact that he doesn't let his weight stop him from living that dream because this music industry and society is so focused on it all being about a pretty face and skinny body to where you can see their ribs JUST TO GET A RECORD DEAL. It's ridiculous, it shouldn't be about the look and I'm glad he's a representation of that. He obviously has that star quality and he has that presence and marketable quality of a star
ofsoundminds The reason I said that was because some people allow their weight to stop them from pursuing their dreams. And the fact that he is being who he is without falling into that society norm of being thin to fit the certain "Look" criteria, I applaud him.
One of the best instrumental songs ever. There is a lot going on, but it all blends together so perfect. No one instrument really stands out too, which is impressive in itself.
One of the greatest tracks!!! " It's alright, "Bright Lights In The Big City"... The most underrated song ever!..... Why???? Those high sting movements!!!OMG
This earwormed into my head this morning, what a track. Diggin' it out of the crate I think it's in at the moment. Think I'll run through The Lady Killer getting it together for the rest of the day.
Always thought this song should have been a massive hit.
It wasn't? Thought it was one. Also I think him saying having swx with an unconscious girl was okay or something. He fell off the map after that
Period
It had all the makings of one and it's a lot more sonically interesting than his actual hits.
The Billie Jean-esque bass with the Jump-inspired synth and the swirling violins from a Bond theme wrapped up in disco blanket... man, this song has it all.
@@korbennelentari Really? Jesus....
Always been a massive hit for me
This is pop song perfection.
It has Billie Jean's resembling powerful bass line.
It has 70s disco orchestra sample thing.
It has somehow modern keyboard riff kicking like a mule.
I can't get enough of it.
Yes lawd this is butter baby
+Mottahead no, this in not pop music. this is funk music. ce-lo has always been funk.
+sebastien berube I think pop here goes for popular not technical term , but true its funky as hell and we dont make them as good as this any more :(
infectious for sure.. one of the best musical compositions of this era imo.. overall great song
+Mottahead it has got a little bit of Millennium by Robbie Williams.
Man, this is gotta be the most underrated song from CeeLo...

Ceelo is a low profile Musical Genius
Still a banger a decade after its release. What a voice and what a groove. The Billie Jean-like bass line brings the juice with the disco strings arrangement on top.
This is what you call, an 'Epic' song.
It's ALRIGHT more then ALRIGHT !

WWE was okay back then. But far from good.

Love this song and video now in 2024.
Sorry I discovered it late.
It's never too late to discover music
@aidenw675 ❤
this song has a massive atmosphere to it absolutely love it
Absolutely!
This song sounds like it came from the 70's/80's with all of the other amazing funk/disco songs! And I mean that wholly as a good thing.
sorry but my english is not good,. if you listen the bass rythm is michael jackson's billie jean, probably this makes a 80's sound. bye! ;)

Please tell me more songs that sound like thus
I been livin for the weekend
But no not anymore
'Cause here comes that familiar feelin'
That Friday's famous for
Yeah I'm lookin' for some action
And it's out there somewhere
You can feel the electricity
All in the evening air
And it may just be more of the same
But sometimes you wanna go where everyone knows your name
So I guess I'll have to wait and see
But I'm just gonna let something brand new happen to me
And it's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
Bright lights and the big city
It belongs to us tonight
Now Friday's cool
But there's somethin' about Saturday night
You can't say what you won't do
'Cause you know that you just might
I'm alive this evening
It was love at first sight
This Saturday
And every Saturday for the rest of my life
And everyone's standin' in line
Yeah lookin' good and lookin' for a real good time
So I'll never have to wonder if
I'll have someone to share all of this with
And it's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
Bright lights and the big city
It belongs to us tonight
Yes I need it
Everybody does
Cocktails and conversation
Music and making love
And it's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
It's alright
Bright lights and the big city
It belongs to us tonight
Bright lights, bright lights, bright lights
And the big city
It belongs to us tonight
I don't regret clicking at all

Why would he be bothered how much he weighs when he is a millionaire. If I was a millionaire I won't care how much I weighed.
