- Barry Gray wrote many versions of That Dangerous Game. Here are three of them.
1.The full orchestral version which was released on the 1966 LP Thunderbirds are Go
2.The Cass Conaby 5s Paradise Peaks hotel performance version
3.Wanda Lamours rather strange vocal rendition
Which version do you prefer? Please Comment!!
Love the original Thunderbirds - The attention to detail was amazing for the time period. I still enjoy this show and this song 63 years later.....
Today alot of people may look at these shows as silly "dated" 60's kid shows. but there is a whole level of class to them that does not even exist anywhere today. I just love watching them and seeing all the groovy background sets. I love the modernist 60's decor in these shows
The ChamCham...exceptional episode!!!
When it catches you as a kid, it’s powerful. When you remember it years later, it’s well made musical gold. Cass carnaby, you and your five jive alright to I
Its amazing the effect this music had on my developing mind as a child. beautiful. Biggest Thunderbirds fan in the world. and always will be.
You obviously don't know me. All I can say. ive been on local news etc had interviews etcetc. So calm your internet penis mr MLVirgin. I am. The end.
It was nearly half centry agoi, when I first heard this music, myself and my elder borother were simply fascinated by the remarkably sophisticated arrangement and performance of this number. This was far beyond the standard of the usual TV programmes meant for kids.
the first version, John Barry-esque once it kicks off after the fanfare and smacking of espionage. Another reason why Thunderbirds was elevated to above mere children's entertainment.
I prefer all three versions, thanks for posting, this music is magic, there is no thunderbirds with out it
There is a fourth version singing by a man on youtube.
@@pierrepinson2906 If you have chance please send the link to hear it.
This particular piece is worth being remembered as the enernal standard number far beyond the realm of fringe music associatedb with a TV programme for kids.
I’ve been looking everywhere for the one Penny sings for so long. For some reason, it’s only with the one that was from the concert version. I was so mad when I didn’t find this on the soundtrack of thunderbirds, as well as the rescue music they play when they’re sending 2 men to find the sidewinder. But anyways, I’m still happy this exists so I can always come back to it and listen to it again and again.
Great number!
I like all three versions, they're all unique in their own way
Wanda Lamours rendition might sound strange, but she is changing the code. There is one code Lady Penelope will never be able to change. The code that makes me feel when it penetrates my mind. This music is absolutely fantastic. I can listen to all of the versions over and over again. 🙂
So cool sound almost 60 years ago
That Dangerous Game was also heard in the Captain Scarlet episode Flight to Atlantica when it is played on the radio in the Spectrum Passenger Jet piloted by the very drugged Captains Blue and Ochre (we have a green light - yippee!)
what's really funny is I did not only instantly recognize the tune but the radio a modified Hallicrafters s-120 I have one
I remember that it was played in 'Viva Cordova' from "Joe 90" too.
3:33, 4:02, 4:24 - Wow! Look at them!
absolute banger.
I like them all,but if I had to choose I will have to say the first one...!!!
Cheers...!!!
Thanks for posting Ben...!!
#2. carries all the charm and sophistication of high end nightlife, white tuxedos, and that girl over there, the one in the flowing, shimmering dress, blood red like her lips. those lips, curling into that cat playing with a mouse grin. need a martini, to cool myself back down.
No problem mate. The album was released on CD in the 90's and it sometimes comes up on e-bay although not very often.
@GnosisMan50 I believe it's Ken Barrie. He also voiced Postman Pat.
He sure likes his alto sax solos eh? sounds great
More will be on the way LOL. This was played at the Barry Gray centenary concert. It sounded fantastic. I hope it will be released in some form!!!!
Music should be a rapture. And this is.
This is my all time favourite piece from Thunderbirds =) btw, does anyone know what key the 'Cass Carnaby 5' version is in?
My favorite version is #2, the Cass Conaby as it really brings out that great Bossa Nova syncopation. I would love to have the piano music for this. Has it ever been printed? Thanks.
For me the version I adore is the one with Matt Munro on vocals. I had a similar maxi single that featured that one.
nr 2 is closer to the essence of the song.and nr 3.great.number 1 is a great orchestration work ,as the composer was a brilliant orchestrator ,but i prefer the other two versions.
The first one sounds like something you'd hear off a Reader's Digest instrumental album (well, from experience anyway)
Hi I have a version of Dangerous Game on a TV21 single sung by a male singer but could anyone tell me who this could be Could it be Gary Millar ????????
3:14 is the starting of the what I think is the better version
I'M RACKING MY BRAINS...trying to find the male singer who sang "dangerous games" . This is the orchestral version but from the song I downloaded from amazon,
this song has lyrics with a male singer who is just awesome but no credit is given to him. All it has is Barry Gray as the composer....I'd appreciate it if anyone knows
it's Barry Gray himself
Blimey, two thumbs down, there's no pleasing some people.
I cannot find this orchestral version on any CD or compilation...was it ever released on an album?? I prefer this version to the other ones..PLEASE HELP! THANKS!
Sylvia do the singing?
Cass Carnaby by miles. Do we know who played on the session?
The original one please
Hi there I have a single with a male singer but there are no credits It sounds like Gary Millar who also sung Stingray and Aqua Marina but still trying to find out
Is that Sylvia Anderson singing on the third version?
Yes.
For some reason I havn't uploaded Tracy Island yet. Which version of the LP have you got, the original 1966 release or the 1986 reissue?
It's like the Sims stole half of this.
Good old Latin based Muzak ^^
