  • August/September 2013 Update: Ever since UA-cam has implemented the 144p default option, many videos here on UA-cam look horrible and very pixelated upon buffering. It's also extremely hard to change to a better resolution, many times if you try to change it, it doesn't take and the video still plays at 144p, even if the resolution is already set to 360p or 480p! If you are having this issue with my video here, as some have had, here is the fix for Firefox at least. The plug-in installs in just a few seconds, and then all you have to do is choose what quality you want the videos to default too when you watch them. You even get a few other helpful options too! Hopefully UA-cam will address this issue soon which has caused widespread problems with several videos here on my channel, and on many other channels as well.
    See link for the fix: productforums.g...
    This video was shot during our quick fly out/fly back home "spot chase" of June 2005. The month prior we completed a successful two weeks on the road, but we still wanted more storms. So, during the second week in June, the pattern started shaping up for another bout of severe weather, and that's when Dave Lewison and I booked a flight out to Denver on Jet Blue, and headed out for another few days of chasing. No tornadoes we spotted during this trip, but we did see some amazing storms none the less. This one being the best of them.
    Hope you enjoy the video, and please rate, comment and subscribe if you have a few moments as I will be posting many more videos over the coming days/weeks/months. Thanks!!

    Hi! If you're looking for a good storm I would suggest the Tampa Bay area on the west coast of Florida in August! They get storms there almost on a daily basis during the summer! Lots of lightning, thunder and heavy rains. If you're looking for tornadoes however and supercell thunderstorms, the mid west is the place to be in May and June. Thanks for watching!

  • @ScottMcPartlandNYC
    @ScottMcPartlandNYC  13 років тому

    @magnusblz3 Hi and thanks for watching! Sure, to sum it up. a supercell thunderstorm is a thunderstorm with one dominate rotating updraft. Most run of the mill thunderstorms are comprised of numerous updrafts where air is getting pulled into the storm, and numerous downdrafts, the region where the rain and hail falls. Those storms are called "multi-cell" storms. But a supercell is a single cell storm with a rotating updraft. That rotation is what helps form tornadoes. That's the skinny of it.

  • @ScottMcPartlandNYC
    @ScottMcPartlandNYC  14 років тому

    @TRR2014 Oh yes definitely, especially during the spring months. The conditions that are needed for these supercell thunderstorms come together the most frequently in the midwest United States. These types of storms do occur all over the world, but are most concentrated in the central US. Thanks for watching!

    amazing supercell thunderstorm! I love severe weather. One day I'd want to be a storm chaser myself, and just like ozthunder mentioned, it don't have to be just tornadoes. Lightning, hail, high winds, mammatus clouds and even just cumulonimbus clouds are a sight to see :)

    Thanks for the posting. What I like about your videos is that it not only about tornadoes, you really enjoy the storm structure, lightning and hail. I cringe when i read the reports from some 'chasers' where everything that did not produce a tube is a bust. You guys will still be chasing in 20 years, they will have moved on to some other interest.

  • @ScottMcPartlandNYC
    @ScottMcPartlandNYC  14 років тому

    @Javilla617 You are absolutely correct! HP Supercells are more dangerous because like you said, there could be a rain wrapped tornado in there that you would never see coming, and what's more is that HP Storms have a high likely hood of some monster size hail as well! Thanks for watching and commenting!

  • @ScottMcPartlandNYC

    @devildriver340 Thanks for watching! I now shoot on a Sony Z1 HDV Camcorder but back then I was shooting on a Sony VX2100. I think you can still find the VX2000/2100 on Ebay these days. They may still run you over 1000 bucks, but they are amazing cameras. Many of the newer HDV cameras are better though since they are HD, and the VX2100 was SD. A good HDV camcorder can run you between 400-900 bucks

    So it appears that it's on UA-cam's end. Any video that has now been given the 144p option is immediately screwed. It keep defaulting to THAT resolution only, hence why the quality is so poor. Hopefully they will fix this widespread issue soon. Many youtube'ers are reporting the same issues with many of their videos.
