    Gonna add some more fuel to the conversation, starting with a question:
    If enough people go to the alternatives, and in doing so avoid watching Cartoon Network during this TTG marathon, that would hurt TTG's ratings. If the marathon gets bad ratings, wouldn't that lead them to try and find a way to get better results?
    Apparently bombarding the channel with TTG is their best method of making profit right now. Thanksgiving, OK K.O.'s premiere, etc. must have been very successful for them, otherwise they wouldn't be doing it again. This particular show is in demand right now; if the majority of their audience tells them they want more TTG, then they're going to air more TTG. Yes, some people are upset, but based on their business practices it appears that there are more people satisfied than there are upset, otherwise, they'd have made changes by now after over a year of doing this.
    I'm purposefully not watching the channel because they're not airing the shows I want to watch; hence, I'm going to the alternatives and not supporting TTG's ratings. That's my point in all of this: If you're unsatisfied with TTG's schedule, don't just complain, SHOW CARTOON NETWORK THAT YOU'RE DISSATISFIED. Support their other shows on the alternatives. Once TTG stops getting the ratings that it does, they will start airing other shows. That's my point in all of this. I will admit I made it unclear in my video but that's the sacrifice I made when I chose to do it improvised.
    As for affordability: The app is free. It costs no extra charge to use, and while the selection is slightly limited, it's still got a good variety of things to choose from. Anyone who watches this video clearly has access to the internet, ergo they have access to CN's website, ergo they can log in with their cable provider and watch their shows there for no additional cost. If people don't have cable, they don't have this issue to begin with. For the people that don't have access to the internet and only have cable, other channels exist for a reason. (To those who say they're not getting what they're paying for, see my previous point about not supporting it and watch other channels).
    P.S. Every episode of the original Teen Titans is currently available on the app. Just thought I'd mention that.

      I don't even bother watching Cartoon Network. Most of the shows went downhill since 2008. Its sister channel Boomerang became shit since 2015. Mostly I watch forensic/police shows nowadays since I like mystery shows.

      What really pisses me off is just how this basically screws every single other one of shows and their creators.
      But I've pretty much been following your advice long before this video came out. I've almost completely checked out on CN. Been watching stuff I missed in the past...Phineas and Ferb, Gravity Falls, Star vs thr Forces of Evil,s etc....and They're all pretty good. Maybe when TTG finally dies off I'll come back to the channel regularly.

      I agree with you. These people just need to calm down and stop whining about Teen Titans Go. If you don't like the show, JUST. LEAVE. IT. ALONE. Because some people, like me, like the show.
      I know why a majority of people dont like the series, i know that the show can be stupid, or immature, but jeez, i go to UA-cam, and i see like over 10 rants about how they hate Teen Titans Go.
      I'll admit it, i love Teen Titans Go. I watch the show a lot since the show came out. So stop making rants about how the show is horrible, HATERS! (sorry), and just go watch something else, like Gumball, We Bear Bears, something like that.

    The main concern I have is the fact that not everyone can afford decent internet/streaming sites. Not every kid in America has regular access to computers or other forms of technology to watch shows online. Or maybe the internet connection is so slow or unreliable that it's almost impossible to watch anything. To only broadcast one show may be frustrating to those who can only watch the network on television, especially towards those who have basic cable and couldn't watch other shows on demand. Cartoon Network could at least air three shows a day so kids are able to watch something different.

    tl;dr - You can watch Cartoon Network's shows and support them on other platforms besides watching them on TV.
    I'm really curious to see how many people jump to conclusions based off of the title and thumbnail of the video instead of watching it in full before commenting. Anyways, in this video I cover a few different topics that I've wanted to share my thoughts on for months now. I've kept these things to myself for quite a while, but I felt it was finally time for me to speak up about them. Again, apologies for the clickbait heheh, I know I'm not normally one to do such a thing, but this is a special case. Don't worry, a regular video will hopefully be up on Friday/Saturday/Sunday!
    (Also as a side note for 4:44, I'm aware that not everybody celebrates Christmas, and there's nothing wrong with that; however, the majority of the US population does celebrate this holiday, and that's the perspective I'm speaking from)

    They still fucked over Regular Shows Finale, by showing TTG all day. They still expect ratings from others shows to be high, but then they don't show those particular shows because they *LITERALLY* only run TTG over the past year and half. They would rather advertise a "Marathon" of TTG more over than ANY other promotional events or specials. Yeah we could watch our current shows like Steven Universe, Adventure Time etc etc on stream services, but at this point you're practically forced to use them because Cartoon Network channel is ONLY going to be showing TTG. You may not have a personal problem with it, and Cartoon Network may be profiting off of TTG's trend, but once all the kids grow tired of it because the over saturation of it then what will Cartoon Network do? They're putting essentially all their eggs in a basket.

    • @ShadowStreak
      @ShadowStreak  6 років тому +2

      Can't deny that Regular Show got screwed, I agree there. However, have you considered that it might be possible TTG is being overplayed so that CN can get as much as they can out of it, then let it die so that their brand new shows (There are SIX coming in 2018, that's insane!) can take over? Not saying it will happen, but it's possible.

    • @palindinX
      @palindinX 6 років тому +1

      I honestly hope that's CN's "Grand Plan". But I feel that would be giving them too much credit. It wouldn't be the 1st time they weren't thinking ahead (CN Real, anyone?). I see what you mean though, that could heavily explain the rumor of TTG ending in 2018, maybe they did pace out the One Trick Pony to bring in as much money as it potentially could, just to gain maximum profit. I still feel they could've done something more varied. Just a little more at least.

    • @21chemicalatthedisco93

  • @ShadyDoorags
    @ShadyDoorags 6 років тому +16

    You're essentially saying that people shouldn't complain because they have other options. That's not how you fix a problem, that's just another way of complaining about the thing that needs fixing. People want the Cartoon Network channel to be a quality channel again, that's why they critique it. Yes, people can go to alternatives and that'll get them their cartoons, but it won't fix the thing they're criticizing.
    I can say... "Walmart has bad customer service, but I can just go to their online store or shop at Publix" Sure, I'll fix my own Personal problem, but that doesn't mean Walmart's customer service is suddenly okay, which is the point people are trying to make when they critique CN's schedule. CN can be a better channel.
    Your argument also just skims the unique experience of choosing to watch cartoons on the channel itself. My guess is, you were addressing some specific channels where this wasn't a factor, but without examples, it comes across as you attacking the whole for things the whole hasn't done.
    Just because you don't participate in something doesn't mean you can't point out its flaws. By that logic, because you don't participate in TTG hate, you're not allowed to complain about it.
    Pretty much everyone knows that TTG makes money, the problem is that this is a short-sighted goal. If you only air what is essentially a fad, that fad will eventually fade, all the while the channel is alienating old fans. CN can get new kid viewers and still keep its older audience, but they choose to take the easy route. Again, I think you were probably talking about specific examples, but didn't display them.
    Finally, the fact that you're complaining about people complaining is one of the most hypocritical things I've seen. You're telling people they're wasting their time by complaining about something that doesn't involve them when YOU'RE complaining about things you don't participate in. You also do it in a very condescending manner, as if you're better than people because you don't complain about CN's schedule (even though, as previously mentioned, you are complaining about something else that you're not participating in).

    • @carlbloke8797
      @carlbloke8797 6 років тому +5

      i gotta say, its a pretty well thought out statement. I agree. If we keep sugarcoating CN's incompetent business practices, means we're just giving them permission to say "oh go ahead and screw all those who rely on cable or have no money for streaming". If i didnt know any better, its as if those who keep complaining about complainers are just looking after themselves and dont see the perspective of others.
      I dont have anything against streaming and i too appreciate the idea of different alternatives to watch your shows but we shouldnt abandon TV to make this possible. A competent network would make an effort to utilize both of them equally. Disney for example is doing it just fine. People have every right to voice their outrage on this because this schedule screams lazy. people arent doing this for the sake of hate but because they care for the network and want it to succeed like it did in 2010-2014

    The problem is that there are families that don't have the ability to watch online. The library and school were my sources of TV and internet for a while because I could use their computer or TV. I am good financially now but there were moments where my family sacrificed the internet for TV. Not everyone has good internet and not everyone can watch shows consistently. Slow internet can kill a show. What if families cut down on computer time. I know some cable packages include internet but I was there. When you have a chance to watch the TV and the only thing on is ONE show, it's torture. I remember giving up my TV time when Cartoon Network used to rerun the Iron Giant on Thanksgiving. Just one point of view sir. A lot of the shows I wanted to see where on Boomerang, Disney XD (Toon Disney back then), and you know what THAT COSTS MONEY! So many shows I missed out on because my family felt okay with the basic package. That sounds selfish but that's how I felt at the time. Thank you for making this video Shadow Streak but please consider those who don't have money. Dang I'm sorry.

    Not everyone has access to streaming websites or stable internet, and only have cable. That throws them under the bus. Not everyone likes watching shows through an app, and if they want to watch it on a computer, good luck, because the website is confusing. The format is strange, finding episodes is hard with how it is organized, sometimes you'll click on what looks like an episode but it turns out to be a clip. The website and the app aren't the end all solution, and again it ignores those who don't have good internet.

    I think why this bothers me more is that I think it's a bad business plan. If airing old shows is the extreme argument, then constantly airing one show over and over is the other extreme. TTG might be the show that is making CN money but it's not the only show it has. Sure, they are shows that are ending but they deserve some respect too. If I was a kid and TTG was always on, I'd become sick of it and change the channel. I think, they way CN is going, it might end up pushing viewers away.

And my family and I are too poor to be buying DVDs and all these monthly subscriptions (although we do have Netflix and I love it so there's that). I personally relied on the schedule to not be just one show because of all this but now I can't watch my favorite old shows or new shows that sound interesting to me. I do actually agree with this video's point though since it definitely makes sense.

    To be fair, this happened a bit longer than Christmas break. This was on Thanksgiving break. I think people get mad because it suffocates the other series that's on. There are new series but they don't air them either. Like Ok ko, for example. It was aired when it released but it doesn't air anymore.
    I agree, but it affects the show directly too. (Though, with Mr.Enter, I think it works both ways. Those attacking him should stop and he shouldn't do the same on his DA...or really attack the creators of a show as harshly as he can tends to. Comedy is subjective, but sometimes he can get rather violent. I like him, he needs to tone down just a notch.)

    Except Nickelodeon has more variety in it's schedule as does Disney XD. Living in an era where streaming is a norm is not an excuse to churn out excessive garbage and saturate their schedule with said garbage. Many people use a network's TV channel as a first impression and that is a horrible first impression. We have two channels that still stick to television roots despite streaming options. What Cartoon Network is doing is inexcusable and is a recipe for death of their network. Like people said. Cartoon Network is killing their network for apps. Nobody will want to watch the same show over and over again. It will get stale as Alpha Jay said. Too much of even a good show is a bad idea in the long run and for me too much of a show that is shit is twice as worse. RIP Cartoon Network.

    I understand where your coming from my good man but this schedule is ridiculous. I’m pretty much indifferent at this point to TTG but to show something that many freaking times, even if you are a fan of the show, that would be freaking crazy. Add in the fact it is bad from a business standpoint when you have something taking up 90% schedule and it gets more crazy. I know TTG is CN’s money bag but Jesus Christ, it feels like I’m seeing Nick again when they did nothing but mostly show Spongebob. I wish they balance it out to give other shows a fair shake instead of giving TTG a majority of the air time. It’s pretty much why I only turn to the channel on Saturdays at this point (Their Toonami block cause I need my fill of good old Dragon Ball, Lupin, And etc.)

    While your opinion is not unwelcomed. It is still however very unfair toward other shows. The schedule is a clear proof how the network speak toward other shows. Streaming becomes dominant is unsurprising as this kind of moves pushes audiences away. The best way to kill TTG is making bomb their film, and drops their income toward the network.

Like half of the stuff shown on Boomerang is current stuff or recent reboots. your missing the problem, it isn't that they're not airing their not airing old shows ,that's understandable ,it loses them money and you can just stream on hulu or buy on blu-ray.
    The problem is that they're not airing any new episodes of new shows. Both adventure time and steven universe had huge spacing between episodes. For example steven universe had an 8 month period without any episodes.I am aware that neither of these make CN as much money as TTG but if there not going to even bother airing why even
    have them as shows.

  • @noraunhappy

    I understand where you’re coming from. But I have one point of disagreement. Kids. The channel is for kids. And not all of them might have access to Netflix, or Hulu, or some other site which costs extra money. As adults with jobs and money that’s an option, but kids don’t have that in the same way. And I think they deserve to see something other than one show. I think Cartoon Network very much exaggerates the popularity of TTG. It’s easy to claim it’s really popular when it’s the only option. I just feel like this is a poor decision for them. Not to mention kids tire of stuff so quickly. And over saturating the market with TTG might make it fade out quicker? Who knows.

  • @carlbloke8797
    @carlbloke8797 6 років тому +8

    honestly, people keep saying the cord cutting excuse but i dont buy it. It really doesn't justify for the sad pathetic state CN is in. the thing is though the rise of streaming in general is not really why CN's programming block is declining. Just because there's streaming doesn't mean the future will make TV obsolete. The problem is how CN fails to add in new creative quality content on their channel. Nick for example is still very successful in their programming block and they're not even pushing their app. Game of thrones, Rick and Morty, Samurai Jack, and The Loud House have proven not only to have massive ratings on cable alone but that TV is still profitable if you actually have some good content and variety for people to watch. The problem here is that CN is so devoid of variety and has no clue whatsoever of what the fans ACTUALLY want. And the shows they have that are ACTUAL quality they don't bother to air much or promote them anymore despite how much money it actually made them in the past. Adventure Time for instance was a huge success and very popular for the network and how did they repay it? By not advertising the show anymore and giving the show so little airtime and so little promotion. Same thing with Regular Show, Steven Universe, Gumball and We Bare Bears. SU is now hindered to just bombs which just ruins the ratings if they don't do it weekly. This pretty much causes that many people to jump ship and turn away from the channel since CN puts no effort whatsoever in their variety and honestly this is quite honestly pretty insulting to the creators of each of those respective shows because they all work very hard on each episode for them to be released for people to enjoy and hope people will like them but nope CN instead just casts them aside for a low budget show that puts the least amount into their episodes who clearly have shown they don't even care about the quality of their content AND THEY'RE REWARDED FOR IT?
    I don't care how much ratings TTG has. It's pretty clear honestly that Miller and Vishnu don't even seem to care anymore if they're gonna make a schedule this lazy. I understand that there is other platforms to watch your shows but we do have to understand that not everyone has access to or can afford streaming. and even if they do they wouldnt always have the shows that they're looking for so you'll eventually end up buying more streaming services until you find the one you see. So all in all, as someone who does still use cable and streaming is that we shouldnt throw in the towel for TV. The streaming isnt the main factor in CN's problems but It's these very incompetent shortsighted business practices which were basically why Konami hit rock bottom. And that's precisely why their channel is declining and losing hundreds of thousands of viewers, because they don't ever want to listen to their fans anymore whether it's in regards to bringing back regular Show or Adventure Time to the schedule or adding new content such as Galactic Kids Next Door which I think could improve CN but they still said no to it. Sure I'm glad that Craig of the Creek, OK KO, Apple and Onion are gonna be around but so far it's not gonna matter if CN still saturated TTG. But other than that though great talk about sticking up for Mr.Enter because i too am a fan of his work and its a shame how often haters, even within the cartoon community gang up on the poor guy

      You are exactly right. Streaming isn't an option for me due to were I live and how slow my internet is. Cord cutting also wouldn't explain the success of other cable shows and specials. Hell ten years ago I thought DVD would be obsolete by now because of Blu Ray, but DVD is still going.

I shouted the same thing at other episodes. And yeah, of course the network is gonna play their most popular show over and over.
    In fact, when videos about its impending finish started showing up, i got understandably peeved. Still, this just irks me.
    And what's with the two showings of Steven Universe? Betting 10 dollars nobody but die hards and fans are gonna sit through all that TTG just to see those two showings. That just hurts :(

    I don't think the Teen Titans Go hatred would be such a problem if Cartoon Network aired their current shows along side TTG.
    I think the bigger issue here is the fact that many of the animators working for Cartoon Network are getting very pissed off because the shows they work so hard on aren't getting seen as much as TTG.
    Sure, there is the app, but I imagine those animators get a better feeling when their show is actually aired on television.
    Plus, it seems like a very stupid decision to air nothing but TTG and kill the network just to bait kids into watching what they want on an app.
    That's unfair to the other cartoons CN has and just seems like a middle finger to fans of the other shows.
    "Where is We Bare Bears CN? Fuck you, heres Teen Titans Go, buy the app to watch the other shows fuckhead."
    Even if the fact that Television is slowing dying is all too true, that doesn't excuse CN's bullshit schedule, because I refuse to defend that.
    If CN Asia can air all of CN's current shows, air them all with equal time slots, while sprinkling in a few older shows for fun, then why can't the North American part of CN do that?
    You don't see Nickelodeon and Disney spamming their highest ratted shows just to force kids to buy an app to watch what they want.

    Well, thanks for giving me a wake up call, Shadow. I did happen to send a tweet expressing my views to Cartoon Network; a very respectful one, don't worry. I didn't attack anyone. But you did bring up a good point; why do I care so much about the schedule?
    I'm not sure, really. Part of it is definitely because of the Christmas specials. Like AwestruckVox said, Christmas time is when a lot of networks take the opportunity to play the holiday episodes of old cartoons that don't get much attention anymore, allowing kids to be exposed to those shows and maybe come to like them. Not only that, but for me, it just felt like a tradition for Cartoon Network to play the holiday specials they've accumulated over the years, along with a couple of new ones. I'm not one for sticking to tradition all the time, but this seems like a bad trade off.
    Not only that, but I believe that just because streaming is growing everyday, it doesn't mean that they should just say "well fuck it" to their TV channel. They have a scheduling department that gets paid pretty decent money to put a TV schedule together, and I don't think it's too much to ask of them to put a little more effort into their job then just "let's play TTG for a straight week. Job done. Time for holiday break."
    Not to mention when they oversaturate the schedule with TTG and Gumball, it feels like they're not showing respect to their other shows. Again, streaming, yeah, but not everybody is streaming. And for the kids that still do watch TV often, how can they be exposed to new shows if Cartoon Network only ever plays TTG and Gumball? How come other shows can't have day long marathons? All of their other shows have enough episodes to play for an entire day. Hell, if it was announced that they planned on doing an all-day Steven Universe or Adventure Time marathon, where they actually played the episodes in order (which isn't that hard to do I fully reject that as an argument when someone says that's why plot heavy shows don't get reruns), I would actually watch that, because that would be cool. Yeah, I have a Hulu subscription, but I would tune in to watch that marathon.

      Christina Hunt I'm really not sure why I care about the schedule either. On AwestruckVox's video talking about it on The Roundtable, I left a comment about how angry I was about this schedule, even though I don't have cable at my house & even when I go to my family & friends' places that do have cable, I barely watch it. Yeah, that was...admittedly kind of idiotic & pointless of me to do now I look back on it. I feel bad now.

    Shadow dude, you know that your my pal right ( I don’t know if I am yours, but whatever) there is a reason that why people complain about TTG and about the schedule, true half of it is because it is okay to hate what’s trending, like some assholes who have not watched the Last Jedi or know anything about the lore they say is the best or worst movie. Then you have person who “hate” because of logical reasons, the main reason those have hate logically, well hate TTG is because of the damage it has been doing to CN.
    I mean if you check the Network ratings, CN has reached the bottom, in part is thu to TTG the other is because people are going to digital... But there is also the fact even thought everyone is going to digital, why is then Nickelodeon not been affected as much, nor adult swim...
    Also you have that TTG has settled the new standards for future CN series... There is a reason why the PPG and BEN 10 received a softcore reboot. Is because since TTG was a success that they wanted to repeat that success and actually it blow up in their face, so that is a reason they stopped airing it (also because the merchandise was not getting sold as much as CN expected). Not to mention that future CN look like more of TTG specially the upcoming Uni-Kitty show (and now surprise there since most of the TTG crew is working on that new show). So basically CN has committed the same mistake that costed dearly to Nickelodeon.
    Also there is the fact that CN by overairing TTG has accelerated their death at the hands of the streaming. Also there is the fact that many shows have been mistreated because of TTG. Regular Show, Adventure Time, Steven Universe and so many more. This has angered the respective fan bases causing the typical hatred for the show.
    Then you also have the fact that whenever TTG breaks the 4th wall is only to insult critics and haters. That is a wasted opportunity considering that there has been other shows that have done creative things when breaking the 4th wall, for example look at Chowder. The fact that TTG has been creative with the rest of their episodes to only see them constantly insult the “haters” just make the show look pity.
    There is also the fact that the transision of CN to digital has not been that great. The you have the fact that if you do not watch the shows on CN they will get low ratings and this will CN the excuse to replace that Cartoon with more TTG. Not to mention that when you watch those cartoons in digital you are really not supporting that show because there is another thing CN cares more than merchandise and that is the ratings, if the cartoon gets less ratings the less it will be aired and the less it gets aired then it will surely be cancelled.
    So those are the logical “hating” reason why people hates TTG.
    Also you want to know why people hate MrEnter, is because he tells the truth. Many fans can not stand to hear that their show is flawed and thus they bash MrEnter. Also it because they consider him too negative... also in the beginning he had a drawing of an old guy that treat MrEnter (a.k.a. Himself) look like a chosen one kind of thingy, that it was obvious he did it for comedy, but people understood otherwise. That is the main reason they hate MrEnter, I know because I was there when he started his review Channel, and just like with you I praised his worked because he was not afraid to tell what was wrong with cartoons.
    As with Phantomstreider they only hate him because he does TOP LISTS, something that Watchmojo made popular (and killed). So they basically bash him for making TOP LISTS videos and also because many say that half of those are unoriginal and bad.
    So anyway I hope this helps you, if I am wrong let me know so I can learn from my mistakes.

It is DUE To Teen TItans Go that the Regular Show finale didn't get a proper ending for the fans. Some fear it will happen to Adventure time too. And I agree that Regular Show was screwed over by the network, completely. However, the option to not watch the network (and hence lower its ratings) is still there, and if people watch their shows on the other platforms, then TTG isn't going to get as much attention AND their other shows will. That's why I'm such a strong supporter of streaming.

  • @robertwright9389

    While I where you're coming from regarding other options like streaming, my personal issue with this scheduling of theirs goes beyond just like liking Teen Titans Go.
    You're right, unfortunately that show does make them a lot of money so it makes sense to air it. The problem with that is? When you're showing so much of one show to the point where its literally the only thing that's on sometimes, that's a problem. I mean its no wonder they're making so much money off of it when its the only show that gets this kind of air time. They're basically in a one person race and getting rewarded for winning still.
    People want to see other shows get a fair shake, you know? Im not saying that We Bear Bears or Gumball or anything should be dominating the schedule instead though. In fact...I don't think ANY show should have this much air time no matter how good it is. Lots of people HAVE turned to streaming...and scheduling like this is why.
    I can only speak for myself, but this scheduling pisses me off because it makes it almost impossible for any new show to come up and get a solid viewership. OK KO is pretty much in this position now. A pretty solid show that not only has more established shows to contend with but the overbloated titan that is TTG.
    Then there's the fact that in the past around this time CN would always play things like How the Grinch Stole Christmas and other fun christmas stuff...things we haven't gotten at all this year.
    Tv is dying but its not dead yet. Something can still be done with the platform but instead of trying to be creative and try something new and refreshing to keep an audience they're just pushing people away further and further from TV and then wonder why their ratings are plummeting. And this is more personal but..it just feels insulting that TTG sees this kind of support. Its a show that tje creators themselves admit that they half ass on, it doesn't even respect its own viewers let alone critics or "haters" and has a shoestring budget.
    But....yeah maybe this is a sign that its time to leave the network behind for good if this its how its gonna be.

  • @SwizzlyBubbles

    Look, I get it that streaming services available and plenty of other alternatives and less and less people are watching television, but...there’s a difference between evolving with the times and technology, and forcing people into it through “network sabotage”.
    As people have said before, people can’t afford television or have no access to them over the holidays. But even that aside, what’ll happen to new shows on, say, Boomerang or shorts from Cartoon Network not available on the app? Not old shows (I’ve accepted that, especially with how Boomerang completely rebranded), like...shorts that only ever got attention through other means. Like Villainous...up until the Spanish episodes got leaked, people only had one promotional image and a bunch of non-CN-uploaded episodes. Even then, the creator had to ask people to mail CN to try and get it greenlit.
    It’s that worry that’s in the back of mind every time I see a schedule like this with TTG!, my dislike the show nonwithstanding, it just doesn’t sit right with me. They have all of these shorts and other shows like AT that are getting new episodes with no fanfare. On TV or on any of the other alternatives. They have Cartoon Cartoons.
    We don’t have access to ratings to know how well these shows are doing on the app compared to television. Hell, we still need our cable providers anyways to use the app (unless they have a free weekend). So, why do this to the network? Even if it is a lost cause...it just feels kinda disrespectful, even if I get the reasoning behind.
    That’s why I get a bit upset when I see this, as they could be treating this transitional period with so much more tact and grace than...this.

    I'm not going to say you didn't make any points, but your points were a little mediocre tbh but I'll get to those in minute as I want to truly explain why this is bad now and not necessarily as bad when it happened on thanksgiving. Now I will admit, I don't watch the Cartoon Network *channel* as often as I do say internet streaming netflix/hulu/vrv ect, however the primary reason I feel this is unacceptable is that Christmas time should be the exception to this business strategy.
    The whole point of the holiday is to get into the Christmas spirit right? I remember being a kid and loving to watch Ed Edd and Eddy's jingle jingle jangle(keep in mind I'm *NOT* making an argument for airing old shows, this is just my personal example) as I to this day, feel it encompasses all the good that is Christmas. That special held near and dear to me and how I'll always associate that episode with Christmas, but is this really what kids should associate with Christmas, TTG.
    I know, I know I'm not a kid and am not going to watch Cartoons on Christmas, but I take an issue with this on a moral stance. It was one thing to have a TTG marathon on thanksgiving, that's bad enough already, but to have a second marathon on a holiday people hold near and dear is just wrong. Anyone remember how touching the Hey Arnold Christmas special was. If parents are going to let tv raise their kids then I say CN needs to do more at *least* during the holidays. So many of their shows have Christmas related episodes in order to get into the spirit so what excuse is there to not show them? The idea of "well you can just watch what you want online" is irrelevant because of this fact.
    You're telling me kids should associate Christmas with loud noises and selfish behavior. Now I don't like TTG at all, I've accepted it makes money and that it shouldn't be cancelled, but this schedule is not acceptable, especially since there just was a marathon last month. Hell even the people who usually defend TTG are angry for these exact reasons. If CN knows they're going to get nothing but casual low views from just kids who need something to do, then it shouldn't be an issue to air exclusively Christmas related content that day, since they know their estimated views aren't going to drop anyway. I'd say the same for Thanksgiving, but Halloween and Christmas are so beloved that Thanksgiving sort of became the overlooked middle child of holidays.
    I'm sorry Shadow Streak, I love your content, but I feel you miss the mark entirely on this one. Its not about not having content available or well kids like TTG so why not, its based entirely on the already over saturation on a time honored holiday.

      +Band1986 Yes, it is true that this overabundance of TTG may alienate some kids from other shows. However, the app is heavily advertised on the network and encouraged, so kids can discover these shows there. Streaming sites are also pretty popular with kids, Netflix and Hulu alike; if they weren't, those sites wouldn't be producing their own shows for the service. I'm not saying that variety is a bad thing, quite the opposite honestly. I'm simply saying that some are overreacting to this issue because in all honesty most of this year has still given time to these other shows despite TTG's dominance, and considering it's a holiday season Cartoon Network's Revenue will be at max with their most profitable show playing. I understand exactly why they're doing this from a business perspective; they're trying to milk this show dry. Cartoon Network is doing this because they want to maximize revenue, I can guarantee that as soon as January rolls around their other shows will come right back and start airing again like they always have been. If not, _then_ there's an issue.
      Gumball is actually dominating this week for Cartoon Network believe it or not, more than TTG is. Lucky for CN, if TTG does become unpopular relatively soon, they've got 6 brand new cartoons coming to the channel in 2018 that have the potential to make up for that, and hopefully catch on. Yes it is unfair to CN's other shows and I do agree completely that they should be given their time in the sun, but they're still all available on those other platforms for those who are interested in them.

      Shadow Streak I personally, see and understand your argument, but I think a few other issues with the network at present is why people are, and will be, so frustrated with this schedule. First general complaint is how little they try to draw people back to watching their network and while not every single show should be tailored for an unintended audience if they manage to draw in parents to watch the shows a 5-13 year old would enjoy then they’d be doing something right at least. Shows like dexters lab, samurai jack, and even chowder all those seemingly great shows had moments where they kept the adults and children entertained but still allowed shows like my life as a teenage robot, generator Rex, Ben Ten,secrecy Saturday’s, Flapjack, all those shows they were heavy kids comedies and actions adventures were still able to draw in there own fan bases because they all were given consistent and fair amount of screen time. further more, if they don’t air their other shows, then other shows won’t get that fair chance to get a start. How can we expect their new shows to hold up if teen titans hogs the lime light. For an example, a show few people remember are generator Rex and the secret Saturday’s. Both were high action and story driven shows following in the footsteps of Ben 10. But because Cartoon Network was going threw a transition from allowing action and focusing on comedy, and neither show had enough toy sales that Ben 10 did, there were both canned mid series on cliffhangers. Yes both those shows got to share in cross overs with Ben 10, the network made a clear effort to make Ben 10 there go too action show of choice. And it’s things like that, that make me worry for shows like Steven universe, adventure time, We Bare Bears, infinity train. While adventure time is ending I feel we the viewers are partly at fault for it as it’s inconsistent air schedule made it seem as though fans didn’t like the show as much. and if Cartoon Network keeps it up , soon I worry Steven universe and we bare bears will all end under the false assumption that it’s fans no longer watch it do to a drop in weekly viewership ratings. While Cartoon Network might not have control over the shows production they do control how often a shows new episodes get advertised to do their best to draw in those fans.
      And about the other media options, Hulu and Netflix, as good as they are, aren’t perfect. Netflix has lost most of its shows making it unreliable for cartoons, and Hulu isn’t as up to date as most would like.. certain shows (mostly the shows that aren’t still airing( are behind in its seasons and or will miss whole episodes. Me personally don’t feel like paying money for per episodes, or per season, of shows on amazon either as that will quickly wear out my wallet.
      I think most of the problem with Cartoon Network is purely fueled by nostalgia, and it’s a hard thing for people to move past and understand just ask any seniors citizen. We all love our fancy new next generation things but we all remember those worn out old gizmos that meant the world to us. Both Disney and Nickelodeon understand nostalgia better then anyone as Disney is constantly opening its vault to resell old movies and merchandise for all the adults wanting to reconnect with their innocence and allowing something parents can share with there kids, leaving its channel a place just for kids as intended. Nickelodeon also sharing that mind of having its 90s block as well as returning things like hey Arnold to help bring closure to a generation that helped give it its place as one of the greats. Before teen titans go picked up, Cartoon Network kept the variety which allowed regular show and gumball to get its running start, and after teen titans go kicked off, new shows came and went without warning like the newest Ben 10, Clarence, and even uncle grampa that got better in its later seasons. If Cartoon Network could just give it’s shows a better chance by not airing teen titans go all the time then they wouldn’t be under such fire and would build that massive collection of shows that it once had to appease the coming generation.

    the problem isn`t so much about not being able to watch your favorite shows. it`s more about new shows NEVER getting recognition.
    Let`s say there`s a new show that people really wanted to get made. Its creative, it was pushed by the fans and the creator has poured their heart and soul into it. if that show get`s picked up by cartoon network it will HAVE to sell toys or dvd`s. it won`t be making any money by bringing in ads on the channel. it won`t get that wider recognition on tv. If it isn`t the most marketable thing in the world it will DIE. Especially since people need to have a cable provider to use the cartoon network app when fewer and fewer people having actual cable. The CN website/app is the most direct way they can communicate with fans and see the number of people who actually want these shows.
    Teen titans go has pushed cartoon network into a new era of the "spongebob standard" If a new show is not as popular as TTG it will be pushed to the wayside and, possibly, forgotten. This sucks absolute ass because no show has the chance to be as popular if cartoon network doesn`t throw money at it.
    The network has no heart. At least not during the day. i still have love for the creative/ experimental nature of adult swim but as far as daytime CN goes i would NEVER feel secure putting my ideas in the hands of that network.

    Good to see a counterargument to the popular opinion, but I think you focused too much on people wanting the classics as people who don't like the unbalanced schedule. I'm also pretty sure that most people aware of this issue know well that they're focusing on TTG because it's a money-maker.
    Sure, I'm not watching CN live, but I will say that it's disappointing that there is little to no diversity in the schedule. It's not about them not showing classics, it's about a lack of variety at all. CN does have an assortment of current shows that (even if I've never seen them) deserve to have time on the air. I'd be surprised if constant reruns of TTG didn't make it stale, though I'm not an 8-year-old. Kids (from what I've seen and experienced) are obsessed over "the next big thing," so showing more new stuff might not only feed the hunger for something new but also introduce them to new ideas and preferences. At the same time, kids also generally don't like change, so it'd be absolutely ridiculous for them to make TTG broadcasts few and far between. I think there can be a balance where kids get what they want but also things they didn't know they wanted. Isn't that the whole point behind commercials? If CN gauges interest based on merchandise sales, wouldn't it make sense to make NEW shows to sell NEW toys? Sure, if it aint broke, don't fix it, but stagnation has killed many classics, and if it comes after that money-printer, the saturation can backfire.
    While I would appreciate a block of classics, it'd probably overlap with my college classes and I wouldn't end up watching them anyway.
    I guess what I'm trying to say is that while I agree that there are alternatives to watch the content people directly want such as streaming and a schedule loaded with one series doesn't directly affect me, both kids, adults, and investors might like it if the schedule was more balanced with other shows.

    I entirely respect your opinion.
    But this affects me because I have to have cable for my BBC shows, (pretty much none of them are available up-to-date in the Americas on streaming services,) and a lot of people don't have both cable and a streaming service. I'm also really annoyed by the CN app. While I don't get commercials, I don't get to watch it on TV, and HD on my TV looks a lot better than HD on a cheap android tablet. Other people have their own reasons for having beef with the app. Like the fact that it's a television network and not a streaming service exclusively for iOS and android.
    But new episodes? The only ones I remember are TTG episodes, and a lot of real new episodes from other series have only aired once or are only available on the app. You don't do that unless you're JUST PLAIN stupid, they should at least air on TV and give the network money. I have the feeling it would get more it it played shows that were actually good, as long as a kid didn't get too bored. While cable is slowly dying out, it's SLOW. If you have an exclusive to your channel that's good and you play it a decent amount with a decent timeslot, people will watch it, the network has cartoons like that but never utilizes them. EVER!. They're killing themselves, not just the network. Their existence in general.

  • @LilyShimizu
    @LilyShimizu 6 років тому +4

    Honestly I understand that Cartoon Network is trying to move their viewership over to streaming on the app, but I just don’t think any sane person, even a kid, would actually like the fact that a channel would play one single show for days and days on end. And not everyone has access to the app, that’s what gets me on this scheduling issue. Most episodes are not unlocked on the app without a cable provider and I think they need to remove that requirement in order to really successfully make the switch.

  • @princedonovaughn1182
    @princedonovaughn1182 6 років тому +5

    But what about all the people who can't access or pay for other services. They deserve a right to view the shows they like too. Disney has it's popular shows and so does Nick but they still have other content. Having other ways to access the content doesn't mean everyone can,what about the kids who really like Gumball or Steven Universe,do they not get to enjoy what they like because parents can't afford it? I really do enjoy your content but I really can't agree with you on this at all. Also lots of people do what tv on the holidays,which is why channels typically air more Christmas centric episodes, I definitely did and do.

    Well the click bait doesn’t necessarily work as you explained it since seeing “Or is it?” tacked on at the end made me curious about how the schedule could be seen as not that bad.
    I thought it was kind of extremely ridiculous that the network would make 99% of their TV broadcasting a single show on their network, but I also know that less people watch television, much less CN. So props for actually providing a legitimately good reason why the schedule is why it is currently and how it isn’t as absurd as it seems at first.
    Clickbait done right or wrong? You decide

    I don't watch TTG, and I don't even have cartoon network. But then again the only problem with this maraton is, that is too long. If kids like the show, cool (even if i would pick something less brainless) but I think most people watch just a few episodes of the same show and get bored. Especialy since those are not brand new episodes, but re-runs. When you put the same show too often anybody, even the bigest fan will need a break from it.

    Teen titans go has almost 200 episodes less than the total times slots given. What other channel has done this to a show of theirs? I don't care that its TTG any show that has this much run time will burn out anyone that watches it. Any show could be given 99% of the run time for a whole week and I'd still be "What the fuck CN, what are you thinking?"

    You seem to forget about pirating the shows, which is another alternative, and free. Thus, more people are incentivised to watch without supporting. The only way to support would be through watching normally.
    Also, a side note, you need a cable provider for most of the content on the CN app.

    Call me out if im wrong but
    As much as I adore the older shows and want them to be aired again, there are those alternatives and shadow you know how i view alot of cartoons and how i rarely watch tv save for when i watch riverdale(which i could stream as well, ironically).
    But even then it makes like zero sense to just air a bunch of 90s shows when kids wont get half the stuff they even mention considering those shows kinda relied on 90s culture. if we dont like watching our parents old stuff and dont get the shows they watch, how are kids gonna get what we watched. like how tf jimmy carter is.

      Archerinspace That's like saying I wouldn't get jokes in older Scooby Doo because I wasn't born in the 70s. I enjoyed the heck out of cartoons and shows from eras long before I was born.
      And being born in a certain era doesn't automatically make me able to understand all the jokes. Pinky and the Brain had many political jokes that I only understand now that I'm an adult, for example.

      Archerinspace I enjoyed watching Chip 'n Dale Rescue Rangers (1989) (Toon Disney) and the old school Tom and Jerry cartoons (1940) (Cartoon Network) when I was like 4 years old and i'm 17 now. Not to mention I didn't grow up in the 90s, yet I loved Rocko's Modern Life (1993) (Nicktoons Network) and Bear in the Big Blue House (1997) (Playhouse Disney). Honestly, I respectfully disagree with you.
      Also, shows like Animaniacs had references to stuff kids probably wouldn't even get. Remember the times they made jokes about Arnold Palmer and Quentin Tarantino just to name a few? They even had references to George Wendt. Yet that show was one of the most popular shows with not just KIDS but PRESCHOOLERS www.nytimes.com/1995/10/03/arts/new-fare-ahead-for-tv-s-youngest-viewers.html?pagewanted=all

    I don't see streaming services as a good thing because it seems like more and more companies are trying to make their own services to charge people money over. For example, Disney is backing out from Netflix and Hulu to have a service dedicated to all the properties they own and WB is doing the same by having their own service which is the only way to watch Young Justice season 3.
    Pretty soon streaming is going to cost as much as it would to sign up for Comcast or AT&T, maybe even more which sucks since these companies are nothing but greedy fucks. So people should be allowed to criticize streaming since now everyone wants a piece of that pie. Also that section where you say you like to make fun of PPG2016 and make videos on it pretty much applies to people who do the same with TTG.
    Nothing wrong with constructive criticism dude even if it is over done. Like how people are criticizing how off model Steven Universe has gotten. There's so much of it, but people always bring up good points that shouldn't be silenced cause someone dislikes it.

  • @poyoho7947
    @poyoho7947 6 років тому +4

    I completely respect your opinion and found myself agreeing with many things that you said. I used to hate on TTG a lot (grew up on the original), but I never stay mad at things for too long, so I got over it after a while (plus, I had school and work, so yeah, definitely on your side in regards to the 'Don't you have anything better to do?' rant). I also don't believe that airing 90s and early 2000s cartoons is not a good idea either. I wouldn't mind if specials rolled around, and I wish they could provide reruns on Boomerang- but nah I agree; you have to strive forward if you want to innovate and make money, not regress.
    I think my only concern with the scheduling is that there isn't much variety on the channel itself now. The different streaming platforms is justified, but it still concerns me that CN only has 1 show that is a cash cow. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but as a kid, CN didn't have just 1 show I liked, it had a bunch (e.i. Billy and Mandy, EE&E, Courage, PPG, Fosters, TT (original), KND, etc.). I guess I'm just a bit worried that if TTG is the only show that CN gives value and dedication to, will this put other shows at a disadvantage? Or will CN not really care about other shows since all they need is TTG? Will CN be able to depend on other shows once TTG begins loosing ground and is cancelled? (I mean, that's the fate of all cartoons).

    • @ShadowStreak
      @ShadowStreak  6 років тому

      Thanks! I agree with a lot of your additional comments as well. I think CN is really starting to push itself onto the streaming market because of how much they advertise their app on social media and in commercials (from what I've heard), not to mention that streaming is starting to soar in popularity over television. My prediction is that they're going to attempt to make an overhaul in 2018 because they have 6 brand new cartoons coming to their channel, starting with Unikitty a just two weeks from now. I can't really say for sure if it'll work out, but I have hope. This marathon is only happening for one week, which is why I'm not really bothered by it. Now if they decided to go ahead and air nothing but TTG all month long, yeah I'd see that as much more of a problem.

    I don't understand why Cartoon Network decided to
    make Teen Titans Go the show with a sea full of airings. Don't get me wrong, i love Teen Titans Go as much as you do, Shadow (maybe not as much), but letting Teen Titans Go air like 20 times in a day is bad, because it wont allow shows like OK KO, and Adventure Time shine because of the fact that Teen Titans Go airs 95% of the time
    I'm not gonna complain about a problem like a 6 year old, but like u said, shows like Gumball are popular by a lot of people. The people in my opinion, need to just calm down, because TTG isnt all that bad, in fact i like it.

    I honestly feel like people are acting WAY too harshly about the schedule (Miller should be fired, TTG needs to die, etc). However, I can find arguments as to why people would be against it. While I myself don’t watch very much TV these days (except to catch new episodes of OK KO and Samurai Jack, when that aired), people might have difficulty exploring other opportunities. They might not have the money to pay for the CN app or other streaming services, so TV might be their only option. I get that TTG is popular, but overexposure, even for those who love the show, can make it tiresome. I love Danny Phantom, but I don’t watch it everyday because I’d get tired of it after a while. The schedule doesn’t affect me personally, I was just moreso thinking of arguments for the other side opposed to the schedule.

      For me, it probably depends on whether or not you can get internet service to watch your favorite shows. Without it, television would be the only option. And when only one show, let alone a divisive one, takes up the majority of the schedule, it can leave a lot of people frustrated. Of course, this is only for when people have nothing else to do and just want to relax in front of the TV.
      That's not to say I want them to bring back reruns of old shows, as much as I love them, but rather just leave more space for their current stuff like Gumball, Clarence, Steven Universe, Adventure Time, etc. Well, that and I guess it's sort of a knee-jerk reaction when dealing with TTG, which I'm not a fan of, by the way.

    My problem with the schedule is because of how I used to watch tv. I remember when I could just sit down and watch shows without having to think about what I exactly what I want. I enjoyed just watching the diverse shows on the channel. I may not be a super fan of what they put on it, but I always watched many stuff. It was nice just to trust that a channel to have shows that I would like instead of going through and researching the billion of shows on the internet and hope that popular opinion matches up with mine. I just miss turning on the tv and being pleasantly surprised.

    I do understand why they keep TTG almost all day everyday, but it still sucks where they don't have any verity as all channels should, not everyone can get 3 or more monthly payments for these streaming sites , plus most of the time they are not all up to date to all the shows that they have, not every episode that have already been aired on TV is online on hulu, Netflix etc, i dont know how long needs to be so they can update it, and with the cartoon network app you need to log in your TV provider to unlock all of the episodes to the shows, witch some, like me, don't know how to do that, and i think people who see and complain who does not watch CN i think mostly just complains because it just looks ridiculous with TTG all day and just think there should just be more verity, actually show that they care about their shows and their creators, but hey that's just my thought on this and there's probably stuff that's just wrong or stupid i said, or like i said nothing about how it could effect the ratings or longevity on different shows and such but that's all i have to say
