As a finnish person i declare this act as wrong and weird.
Like even in finland, where it is basically tradition to go to naked saunas with strangers and friends and whatnot. But forcing people to do that? In the u.s? Thats a disaster waiting to happen.
Listen to the Finnish they are sauna people.
Like, pretending tor a second that sauna experience actually is needed... You can just rent the one person a private one. But setting the ridiculous argument aside, yeah no, thats like... Some of the most blatant harrasment ive ever seen.
I do feel experience does help with writing to some extent, but to make it where you have to be with him, that goes way over the line. I wouldn't have an issue with him saying go to sauna and try it out by yourself.
That's not a harassment lawsuit waiting to happen.
It sort of kinda of maybe makes sense but the counter argument everyone should be remembering is… why can’t they just charge it to the company for an individual sauna session? Why exactly does it need to be with other people?
There are so many less creepy ways to ensure your staff are familiar with saunas without forcing them to go naked there with you every week, like: asking them questions at the interview, giving your staff free memberships to the swimming pool as a perk, etc. Can't really believe it's a legitimate concern. Dude should just move to Germany, they like getting naked there 😅

If I'm required to do mandatory sauna sessions then I'll switch my diet to 3 day old Mexican food followed by Guinness.
While his logic makes sense, it's still uncomfortable, unconventional, weird, and unnecessary. He did add female only sessions, but still is very unnecessary.
He offered to start female only sessions after the backlash. He wasn't doing it before and it's unclear if it's started at all. The fact that it has to be naked is also weird. Or the fact that they have to go with coworkers instead of alone.
His logic did not make sense lol. What on earth are you talking about?
If he cared that much about the going to the sauna he could have just give them vouchers to go on their own time

*2 seconds into video* LMAO, tell me about it, i worked security for a country music concert last night, had a guy interject himself in a situation, dude looked like he could fight, but instead his drunken ass caused a scene Worthy of a 14 Y/O girl, screaming about being assaulted because i was leading him out of the venue with my hand under his arm like you help an old lady 😂😂😂 then he did that thing where the karen wips the phone out demanding names😂😂cop ahowed up at that moment told him to be quiet and get in the car as he was intoxicated and causing a scene...damn thats was funny 🤣
It would make sense if the boss or any male figure did not attend with the women. But the fact that the boss HAS to participate with the narrative leads makes me want to throw up

Wrong to make it mandatory. Employers do a lot of that sort of thing though and we don’t bat an eye… until it involves nudity. It should’ve been voluntary, the ones that participated would be more in line with the company culture, the ones who didn’t could just stay in their outside circle.
If each individual can have their sauna sessions (boss not included), not much of a problem unless there's a health condition. If it is WITH the boss, that's inappropriate.
Guys, I just had a terrifying thought. About the possibility of someone from Activision being…inspired by this story.
I'm starting to wonder what culture this game developer is from and if this is a case of ethnocentrism. It may seem entirely inappropriate to Americans and totally normal in other countries. Like nudity in public parks in some European countries.
I mean, it makes sense in the sense of, you cant know it unless you experience it. But why does it have to be manditory naked, and with your boss. This feels like a, go experience saunas, write notes about it thatd be important for the project, and bring it into work, but can absolutely be done as a solo event. Why does the boss need to be there, or it be a group event. Just seems like its rife with excuses to hide the "real" objectives.
I'm a student right now to be a game desiigner and simulation designer at Full Sail University and let me tell you this is unacceptable behavior from anybody in this industry also spent two years in business school in Japan and I can't fathom how disgusting this mentality is. I'm all for unique ways to come up with fresh ideas but not exposing oneself to you your peers has to be one of the most destructive ways to destroy any progress on a game and on building cohesiveness
This totally makes sense for understanding the basics of the game you are creating. Why do you think developers at Epic Games on Fortnite has a 99 to one mortality rate?
Why not let individuals go on their own, or say it is preferred or idk, just consult with a sauna company for parts that need it. It would be better to just have an industry partner to cross promote then, than have employees be required. What a creep.
The exposure makes sense, but not in the sense that you're forced to go with your boss. Instead, offering to cover sauna sessions if employees choose to go on their own would be the correct way to gain exposure. Forcing coworkers to go with you, as their boss, and then forcing them to be nude is predatory.
Like the logic of knowing how saunas are is... an angle but even if thats the reason it is too far. Like if ur gonna have people do sauna stuff for "research" have it be solo or like gendered groups (idk how saunas work)
Especially dont mandate nude sauna trips cuz that feels weird
If the game is triple A amazing and everything then he might have some shred of a point. But, the fact this is how he is defending himself is so suspect and that the game is about being a "saunamaster" already 99% identifies him as brain dead.

As long as every person working on this project was a new hire who agreed to the requirements, it's whatever. If existing employees were coerced that they must participate or lose their job, that's a problem. It isn't clear to me which is the case here, but to be fair I'm not personally "doing my research" on this one, lol.
Writing nor game designing does not require you to be naked, therefore it’s highly inappropriate for the boss(let alone a male one that apparently only hires women for this job) to require nudity for the job. I mean, this sounds like a joke. If it isn’t a joke someone needs to watch this guy closely as he seems like someone that should already be on a registry.
@@aggravatedHart I think almost everyone would agree with you, as do I. I'm just being honest that we don't have the complete story here, and there's plenty of examples of people who wouldn't care about being naked if they're getting paid for it. Again, if there's coercion involved that's not okay. If there isn't, while it's weird, consenting adults are consenting adults. There's plenty of weird jobs done by consenting adults that are perfectly acceptable circumstances yet would otherwise be wholly inappropriate in every other circumstance.
That guy is gonna get “don’t drop the soap in prison bathroom” treatment when he gets in jail for this.
