Excellent, brilliant idea. Best I've seen yet. Thanks for sharing! 👍
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟🐟. I cook fish on it too. Not for a gang . lol .
Thanks for sharing this. Takes the issue of stability to another level.
I agree . Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
This is perhaps the most Canadian content I have ever seen, outside of "Take Off" by Doug & Bob MacKenzie.
I made a similar grill for mine a few years ago. Works great especially on my Big Buddy heater (a lot more BTUs than the smaller heater). Cook a lot of food on it while ice fishing.
Those big Buddies sure crank the heat! I see the Buddy Flex heaters and Cookers have been on sale for a while. Pricey and cumbersome in my opinion . No need with the other 2 heaters.
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
Best hack I have seen yet thanks and will be doing this
Thanks for watching . 👍 I have the Buddy heater fish fry vid up if interested 🐟🐟
Thank you for actually showing the process of making it and using it for cooking! Most youtubers just show the grate being on there buddy and don’t even turn it on haha
Thanks! I’m new to this UA-cam stuff and try to make it interesting and a little different 👍👍👍
@@sonnenburgoutdoors do you have a stove fan for your buddy heater? Works great for spreading the heat around more!
@@JamesTheAxeThrower no I was looking into that also. I believe the big buddy has the fan built in.
@@sonnenburgoutdoors it does have a built in fan but it has to have 4 huge batteries in it or a wire that plugs in. The heat powered fan makes it own electricity through the heat that it absorbs from sitting on top of the heater so you don’t need any electricity where you are for it to run. Also just one (you can fit two up there!) heat powered fan more then doubles the amount of air that the included fan can push. I don’t even run the internal fan with mine anymore lol
EXCELENT idea. Thanks for sharing . Ontario Canada .
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟 bring on some cold weather !!!
Thanks for watching! Buddy heaters on sale in Canada at Canadian Tire for $97. That's $50 off!!! Till Dec. 25. Can't beat that price here 👍👍
79.95 at walmarts in NJ
Nice!! That’s works out to over $100Cdn. 😢sad! Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
I bought one, best price anywhere in Canada! Dont forget the filter if you are using a 20 lb tank and hose!
This is what I need to do for my Big Buddy Heater! Good job S.O.!!
I never tried in big buddy but should be good . Maybe a little tweaking? Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
Looks like a good way to melt snow.
Thank you. 👍
Outstanding video this will be an asset to my Big buddy heater 👍
Thanks for the kind words👍👍🐟
Brilliant
Also.. a paint roller grid from Lowes will fit right on these. I use it to cook with (with a sturdy pot on top) when I'm ice fishing and it works great.
You have to watch those grates as they have a galvanized coating. Heating galvanized can be poisonous . Thanks for watching🐟🐟👍
Thank you Sir,,,I'm gonna make me one tomorrow.
Thanks for watching!! I tried them all and this is the best one .👍👍🐟
Very cleaver ideal. We have a buddy heater but rarely use it because of the odor and moisture it gives out in our small RV. We've replaced it with the Camco Olympian wave 3 heater that sips fuel and you can barely smell anything.
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
Great video. Stumbled across this and will definitely try it out!
Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
Awesome good job explaining!
Thanks for kind words!! Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
Good project. I may have a similar grate here already.
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
I liked your tip so much that I subscribed.....
Thanks for watching!!!!🐟
GREAT idea, just now, real quick made one for mine. Thanks for the share.
Thanks for watching 👍👍just released the Buddy heater fish fry vid 🐟🐟
Great video, thank you for sharing. I have always wondered why Buddy did not do something like this. best wishes. PB
Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
Just got a mrbuddy I’m gonna build me one thanks for the advice
Good luck!! Thanks for watching. Still working good👍👍🐟🐟
Great video! I will consider this as opposed to bending the grate up. Question, can the "elements" handle the occasional drip of grease on them without damage?
Yes they can . This grate should handle that the same as bending the front grate up. It sticks out far enough . I have dropped sausage grease a bit and no problem . I hope I understand your question correctly . Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
I plan to try this & I had same question so I'll try using aluminum foil shiny side up to reflect heat towards food, & catch splatters.
I've been enjoying beer brats and burgers since the 90's!
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
I like this idea much batter that the others, thank you for sharing this ! 👍
I find this is very solid . Thanks for watching 👍👍👍🐟
What, no duck tape, eh? 😂 Very cool idea. Going to do it too. 👍
No a little too hot !! lol👍👍🍺 Thanks for watching!
Great idea for the buddy heater. awesome video, thanks for sharing!! Merry Christmas 2022
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
Thank you, Nice hack. Will definitely do this. Merry Christmas. God Bless and stay safe.
Thanks for watching !! Same to you👍👍🐟 we need ice here in Northern Ontario to get an ice vid!!!
@@sonnenburgoutdoors Central Kentucky. We just might get some snow for Christmas this year.
Just a suggestion, get a gimble or a tripod, the movement of the camera mounted to your head can make it hard to watch!
Yes I heard that comment almost a year ago too lol. Since then I have way better cameras also. Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟🐟
Fabulous video! Thanks!
Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
Thank you for the video.
Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
Thanks. God bless
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
Solves a serious problem when people are in a bad way. Why waste all that heat and STILL have no way to cook. Thankyou!
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
Turn a 5 gallon can paint grid upside down and hook it to the handles it's an instant fit
Boiling water is fine but I don't know if it safe to grill hot dogs.
The original grate is made for cooking out of chrome plated steel not galvanized like paint screens. Thanks for watching 👍👍🐟
Surprised to see that water boil. Shows how much a/the (depends on model) USB fan is needed to keep all that from just heading for the ceiling when you want it at body core height. Good vid.
Yes it was boiling way harder than that a few seconds earlier but I took the pot off a few seconds before I filmed that part. The big buddy has the fan built in . This heats my otter hub and flip over no problem. Couldn’t fish with out it!!
Thanks for watching👍👍🐟
Heat powered fan doesn’t need batteries/charging, etc.
@@PaEMT_FF9 yes I seen some mods on that . Cool!! Use on full size wood stoves up here👍
I like the part where you showed the hot dogs cooking
Hot dogs are my favorite🌭🌭thanks for watching 👍👍
@@sonnenburgoutdoors I think you did something special by showing the food cooking from the heater. Other vids don't show that.
I’m planing a catch and cook fish soon . Not much ice and tons of slush in Northern Ontario ! Sad
We use a ladder paint tray upside down $8 bucks from Amazon. no cutting or prepping . Works great for kettle & 4 blade Stove fan
I looked at those, but they are all too wide for my heater.
@@Rebekahdavignon YOU NEED A 1-2 GALLON. THEY SELL THEM AT LOWES
@@PICARDY610 I think I'm going with the modified hamburger grill shown in another video. But thanks.
Ya until grease leaks on the unit then your SOL 8-o Love the hack though XOXO
Could always put foil on if worried ? 🐟👍👍
@@sonnenburgoutdoors I have one of these cages and it just seams too slippery for products. Anyway great hack. 8-)
Grease dripping?
I never had a problem as grate sits out in front of burner. If any worries I would cover grate with tin foil. 👍

Don't do it Mr buddy is a heater not a stove their are wonderful camp stoves
1 less thing to haul around . I bring too much stuff already. Lol . Cook lunch while heating the shack. Thanks for watching 🐟🐟
Take off the head camera and consider those of us that are seizure prone. I was highly interested in your video until all that going on. To bad too.
I couldn’t stand to watch more than a minute! All the camera movement was making me nauseous!
I love solid stuff! Made in Canada quality. I made a similar one from a toaster oven rack that was in the recycling bin.
Great idea BUT you need to mount your camera on a base you made me sick from all the movement
Yes . Thanks for the input. New Hero 11 should help 👍🐟
