Great video mate. Tried removing mine today to fit into a hard suit case but no cigar. Don't want to saw it off though. Will have to see if I can find a bigger suit case.
Wow!!!!! You saw off the stand & More power to you. I have the same problems when I got the iMac 27" 5k Display with all the wall mount stuffs & Found out that the stand don't come off. Called Apple tech & None of them know nothing about the stand coming off or not.
For all those out there that speak out of the Rectum, try gathering correct information first and maybe all questions will be answered if you watch the video in full & have an open mind!!!
But the stand is removable from the inside - undo 8 screws and it's off. You have to remove everything from the inside to get to them and you will also void your warranty - but I can see you're too hardcore to worry about that... Why didn't you fix your old imac with a new hard drive? Much more user friendly and easy to work on.
First, I did replace the drive in my old unit and it still works fine. Second, you know nothing about me. And last, you can change your engine oil by first removing the entire engine from your vehicle. The point is that Apple turns simply things into wasteful projects, the old stand was engineered just fine and was removable very easily!!
Apple is doing more difficult for its customers. First- you can't put more ram Second- they take off the jack on iPhone Third- removed USB en MacBook Fourth- can't remove the stand It's not a dynamic products. You have to conform with the "new products". Or pay more money!
I think it may be time to reconsider other products, because Apple seems to think their are no price limits on their stuff. As for me, I refuse to own an iPhone!!
Maybe 10 years ago. We're talking about Apple here, and they don't want the consumer having any options after they have your money. Take it back to Apple IS my suggestion.

It is a shame that apple is always making these kind of things to newer versions of their computers and devices... nice video though!!

Where did you get the vesa mount for that?
Also, they make it so you can't remove the stand because you actually have to pay MORE for an imac with the vesa mount, which is ridiculous
As mentioned, I spoke with Apple tech and did do a goggle and on this model it is not removable, the earlier ones are
did you seriously saw that off?? what did that even do for you other than ruin your display?
It allowed me to mount the unit within a custom made computer hutch!!

You should have just googled on how to remove it. It is pretty easy. No sawing needed.

I think he made it quite clear that its the older model that is removable and this new model isn't, but if you know something we don't please tell.
